Wot makes you feel scary...in Malaysia Health care is/are for everyone; local and foreigners alike. It's dirt cheap for Malaysian and very affordable for foreigners.
After day 5 your eyes back to normal and beautiful as always . As long as you stayed in Malaysia don't worries about medical treatment fee because you gets what you pay and it's quite cheap compared to Singapore or other nations .

Being a Malaysian citizen, I only pay RM15 or 3.17USD for surgery of fixing my broken jaw, including sewing my gums back into place. This was done in government hospitals.

Glad you had the right advice for where to go about your eye, and that it healed relatively quickly I’m guessing it was either an insect bite and you didn’t realize or something you allergic to however, if it was something allergic to, it would seem like it would be both eyes. I like your information about finding a community wherever you travel. I need to follow that advice more, I do go on meet up, when I lived overseas, I organized hikes, book groups, and walks, but I didn’t think have the Facebook idea. Good to know.
Thanks! It wasn't a bite. I discovered in Vietnam I'm allergic to Mango and that's what causes the reaction. It doesn't happen in both eyes at the same time. That day this happened I recall eating mango yogurt. Never would have guessed it until one day I had a delicious mango smoothie and immediately my eyelid got sore/red, started swelling. I had medicine so it didn't get like this time. I've eaten mangoes all the time in SE Asia. At least I'm not allergic to passion fruit 😋. Glad I figured it out. Yes, Facebook groups are great for connecting with travelers or people with same interests or for resources.

One of important procedures that i know about Malaysia medical protocol was if any private medical had any problems with child labor they need to let the government hospital managed that case😮. Just wow
This is true.. if the private hospital cant handle the case it will usually transfer to goverment hospital.. people go to private hospital or clinic because the environment is more pleasent, shorter time, comfortable room, less crowded event though the price is more expensive than goverment hoapital or clinic..
I can understand that because it's the same in USA. The public hospitals are also use to extensive trauma cases and some are know for specializations. Growing up we had a public hospital with a great reputation for taking certain cases and that's where they would send patients. Thanks for sharing!!
OMG! Im sorry sorry you experienced this. However, going to the hospital in KL is not a bad experience. I had take my son the 3rd week after moving here in KL. And the prices are alwats the BOMB 💣
Yes, my experience and treatment in KL have been nothing but the best. The quality is top-notch, and the prices are unbelievable! Turns out, I’m allergic to mango 🥭-and I realized this day I ate mango-yogurt. Wild, considering I’d been eating mango for nine months before this happened. I’m glad healthcare isn’t an issue for us in KL!
There's a flying insect which its bite could cause similar swelling. You won't feel it when it bites. The swelling usually would disappear on its own a day or two and putting ice on it could heal the swelling faster. I'm not sure this is the same thing. Just sharing stuff.
WOW!! Dr said it looks like a bite but I didn't feel anything and at this point can't rule it out. It was out the blue and instant swelling 😩. Thanks for sharing because I don't recall being bit. Darn bug!! Ugh
In Malaysia you can just visit any clinic to get treatment. I remember my daughter had to make appointment few days ahead when she had flu during her studying in Australia. She was coughing badly and had fever. A lot of questions had to be answered before they gave her appointment to see the doctor.

Try to resd the ingredients if you buy any packed or canned food, sometimes these have preservation that you might be have allergy to...also always check the due dates to make their current ones..do take good care of yourself ya ...peace n love ❤️

Love the RoadiD tag for my watch. I had one that I wore at home that had a line to say "Dog home alone" plus the name of my co do complex plus a girlfriend's phone number. And I have a second one that I wear when I travel that says "Canadian Passport" and gives 2 of my sister's phone numbers. Both have my allergy to penicillin at the very bottom. Great investment since I'm a senior solo traveler.

I don't leave home without it and the price is nominal. When this lady lost her wallet and the police couldn’t locate her using the information on her ID, I realized that having just an ID on me isn’t enough-an accessible contact phone number can save precious time.
You actually went to one of the more expensive clinics. But yeah, medical care is affordable here. Health insurance don't even ask for co-pay. They generally cover 100% because it's not overly expensive. You only need to co-pay if you get warded and even then normally only if you ask to upgrade to a higher class
That's just wonderful not having to worry about the exorbitant expenses of healthcare. It's a stressor in the States. I guess location in city impacts cost but I was grateful for the access and as an American anything under $100 for healthcare is a miracle. Thank you very much for watching and sharing insight. 😳Specialist for RM5!!! Unbelievable!! In USA I pay a deductible or certain percentage until deductible met. They reduce cost for in network doctors but it's still cost way more with insurance. Lawd we are not going to even talk about dental!!! 😩🥶

I have swollen eyelids on both eyes for over 10 years. I went for a biopsy and doctors kept asking me to take different antibiotics. My doctors still have no clues. What medication did you take? Did the doctor say what caused the swelling? I can't do cataracts and eye lasers because eyelids can't be opened. I appreciate your feedback.
Oh wow!! I'm so very sorry to hear that you're dealing with this difficult issue. She gave me Kloraxin eye ointment and allergy pills. She thinks something bit me. I've never experienced this before and I have no clue. A friend sent me a post with a guy from is in Malaysia and experienced the same thing which was attributed to some type of allergy. I pray you can find some relief so you can get additional treatment you need. You're welcome!
@@QueenofDC I know this happened sometime ago but next time you are in Malaysia, are you able to obtain lavender oil easily because if you put lavender oil on your ankles and round your wrist and neck, it keeps away mosquitoes and maybe it keeps away other insects. I think it’s almost certain it has to be an insect, because if it was an allergy or from a food preservative, it would seem to affect both eyes instead of one.

usd18.50? kind of expensive even for KL. most clinics charge about usd6-7 (~myr 50-myr 60). but maybe it was special medicine or due to the KLCC location. but am glad you're doing better. looked like a bite from a tungau / tungo (a kind of mite) but like you said, could've been due to an allergy.

Glad it all went well - btw, if it helps to clarify, Malaysians never really think about clinics or hospitals whether they're in or out-of-network coverage (mainly because of legislation+market pressure created a condition where private insurers can't really practice the way they do in the USA esp since even private healthcare has a cap on costs) and clinics double as the pharmacy section of the CVS anyway, so that's why you got comments about why did you go to this or that clinic/hospital. The more typical Malaysian mindset (because of the above conditions) means that ppl just decide on proximity and available facility (e.g. if you need an xray done). In fact, unless they really want to claim insurance, ppl don't seek a referral either and just go straight to a specialist. 😂
Thank you for explaining! Way back when that's how it was in US system you didn't need a referral for specialist but now a lot of plans require it; although some don't. It varies and it's never a uniform price since it's employer sponsored etc. It's just a onerous and expensive system for us. Fortunately, I've been in countries where I was able to afford the care and grateful it all worked out with prescribed medication. The good ole days of not needing a referral....memories 😆.

Yes, sun poisoning is severe sunburn and inflammation of the skin with blisters due intense ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. It's very painful 😭.
As a blood donor in Malaysia I get the benefit of totally free healthcare. I had several elective surgeries and I don't have to pay anything.

I paid rm23 to remove my keliod + madication. The nurses and surgeon were very nice.

I had the same allergic reactions, my left eye will get swollen, that happened when I take some painkillers medicines.

All I did was wash my face and BOOM 💥. I was fine all day. I traced what I ate and those items seems fine. Maybe something nicked or got in my eye. 😩

One of important procedures that i know about Malaysia medical protocol was if any private medical had any problems with child labor they need to let the government hospital managed that case😮. Just wow

This is true.. if the private hospital cant handle the case it will usually transfer to goverment hospital.. people go to private hospital or clinic because the environment is more pleasent, shorter time, comfortable room, less crowded event though the price is more expensive than goverment hoapital or clinic..
I can understand that because it's the same in USA. The public hospitals are also use to extensive trauma cases and some are know for specializations. Growing up we had a public hospital with a great reputation for taking certain cases and that's where they would send patients. Thanks for sharing!!

OMG! Im sorry sorry you experienced this. However, going to the hospital in KL is not a bad experience. I had take my son the 3rd week after moving here in KL. And the prices are alwats the BOMB 💣
Yes, my experience and treatment in KL have been nothing but the best. The quality is top-notch, and the prices are unbelievable! Turns out, I’m allergic to mango 🥭-and I realized this day I ate mango-yogurt. Wild, considering I’d been eating mango for nine months before this happened. I’m glad healthcare isn’t an issue for us in KL!

There's a flying insect which its bite could cause similar swelling. You won't feel it when it bites. The swelling usually would disappear on its own a day or two and putting ice on it could heal the swelling faster. I'm not sure this is the same thing. Just sharing stuff.
WOW!! Dr said it looks like a bite but I didn't feel anything and at this point can't rule it out. It was out the blue and instant swelling 😩. Thanks for sharing because I don't recall being bit. Darn bug!! Ugh
That was my suspicion as well. It could be an allergic reaction, nevertheless it must have been scary

In Malaysia you can just visit any clinic to get treatment. I remember my daughter had to make appointment few days ahead when she had flu during her studying in Australia. She was coughing badly and had fever. A lot of questions had to be answered before they gave her appointment to see the doctor.

Travel insurance is a must! Other places in the region,non citizens will get a bill you won't believe!
I wholeheartedly agree! I have travel insurance, but fortunately, I’ve never had to use it here because all my healthcare services have been affordable out of pocket. Try to resd the ingredients if you buy any packed or canned food, sometimes these have preservation that you might be have allergy to...also always check the due dates to make their current ones..do take good care of yourself ya ...peace n love ❤️

Love the RoadiD tag for my watch. I had one that I wore at home that had a line to say "Dog home alone" plus the name of my co do complex plus a girlfriend's phone number.
And I have a second one that I wear when I travel that says "Canadian Passport" and gives 2 of my sister's phone numbers.
Both have my allergy to penicillin at the very bottom.
Great investment since I'm a senior solo traveler.

When this lady lost her wallet and the police couldn’t locate her using the information on her ID, I realized that having just an ID on me isn’t enough-an accessible contact phone number can save precious time.
You actually went to one of the more expensive clinics. But yeah, medical care is affordable here. Health insurance don't even ask for co-pay. They generally cover 100% because it's not overly expensive. You only need to co-pay if you get warded and even then normally only if you ask to upgrade to a higher class
That's just wonderful not having to worry about the exorbitant expenses of healthcare. It's a stressor in the States. I guess location in city impacts cost but I was grateful for the access and as an American anything under $100 for healthcare is a miracle. Thank you very much for watching and sharing insight. I'm very happy for Malaysians and wish the same for everyone 💕. Even our copays can be costly depending on the plan and then deductibles. Gives me a headache 🤕 thinking about it LOL!

I have swollen eyelids on both eyes for over 10 years. I went for a biopsy and doctors kept asking me to take different antibiotics. My doctors still have no clues. What medication did you take? Did the doctor say what caused the swelling? I can't do cataracts and eye lasers because eyelids can't be opened. I appreciate your feedback.
Oh wow!! I'm so very sorry to hear that you're dealing with this difficult issue. She gave me Kloraxin eye ointment and allergy pills. She thinks something bit me. I've never experienced this before and I have no clue. A friend sent me a post with a guy from is in Malaysia and experienced the same thing which was attributed to some type of allergy. @@QueenofDC I know this happened sometime ago but next time you are in Malaysia, are you able to obtain lavender oil easily because if you put lavender oil on your ankles and round your wrist and neck, it keeps away mosquitoes and maybe it keeps away other insects. I think it’s almost certain it has to be an insect, because if it was an allergy or from a food preservative, it would seem to affect both eyes instead of one.
U should consider moving to msia. U can blend in nicely.

usd18.50? kind of expensive even for KL. most clinics charge about usd6-7 (~myr 50-myr 60). but maybe it was special medicine or due to the KLCC location. but am glad you're doing better. looked like a bite from a tungau / tungo (a kind of mite) but like you said, could've been due to an allergy.

Most likely caused by insect bite, mite or spider. Sometimes you dont feel it. Food/product allergy doesnt happen to 1 eye

Glad it all went well - btw, if it helps to clarify, Malaysians never really think about clinics or hospitals whether they're in or out-of-network coverage (mainly because of legislation+market pressure created a condition where private insurers can't really practice the way they do in the USA esp since even private healthcare has a cap on costs) and clinics double as the pharmacy section of the CVS anyway, so that's why you got comments about why did you go to this or that clinic/hospital. The more typical Malaysian mindset (because of the above conditions) means that ppl just decide on proximity and available facility (e.g. if you need an xray done). In fact, unless they really want to claim insurance, ppl don't seek a referral either and just go straight to a specialist. 😂
Thank you for explaining! Way back when that's how it was in US system you didn't need a referral for specialist but now a lot of plans require it; although some don't. It varies and it's never a uniform price since it's employer sponsored etc. It's just a onerous and expensive system for us. Fortunately, I've been in countries where I was able to afford the care and grateful it all worked out with prescribed medication. The good ole days of not needing a referral....memories 😆.
