    Do not forget to add in the license fee for each vehicle, motorcycle or trailer you own in ADDITION to the personal property taxes and Va DMV registration fees as well.
    One thing that they do in this state is look for anyway possible to squeeze another nickel in taxes out of the residents here.
    I have attached the current additional "license fees" the city of Lynchburg imposes on your vehicles or trailers on a yearly basis which you are billed and pay on your personal property tax bill.
    Passenger Vehicle (4,000 pounds and less): $29.50
    Passenger Vehicle (4,001 pounds and over): $34.50
    Motorcycle: $21.00
    Travel Trailer: $29.50
    Trailer (1 to 1,500 pounds): $8.00
    Trailer (1,501 to 4,000 pounds): $18.50
    Trailer (4,001 pounds and over): $23.00

      True!
      I don’t know how the numbers would work out, but I’d love to just pay 10% sales tax…and stop taxing my property / house / cars / etc

    Here in Southern California gasoline (regular grade) is currently $4.19 per gallon (at Costco). California gasoline prices are always significantly higher than most other areas of the country.
    The January bill for home energy use was $377 for natural gas and $266 for electricity. Again, some of the highest prices in the country.
    Property taxes are fairly low, usually on par with Virginia. This is little consolation to someone interested in buying a home. In the San Diego area a single-family home will cost around $800,000 !!!
    Maybe I should move to Virginia!

    As someone who has 3 kids and raising them solo, where would be the best school district to move that’s the most diverse and the best for IEP? Moving to be a student at Liberty University. Want a few acres

      @Living-In-Lynchburg-Virginia  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a great question! I have a daughter who is currently teaching in one of the local districts, and she deals with IEPs. But I don’t have any true first hand knowledge about the different districts.
      I would suggest contacting the different districts to ask some specific questions. Or maybe getting into a Facebook parents group from each district.
      Send me an email if you want to discuss more.

    Hello JD! Build a six pack, I've never heard of that. It must be a Virginia benefit. Have to love VA!

      Just got gas at Sam’s…for $2.99.

      We have the build a 6 pack in Mississippi. Depending on store, it could be as cheap as $8.99 to as expensive as $17.99

      @jdmillerYT ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnniemartin4798 I guess that makes sense. I'm thinking tose $17.99 ones are for micro brews or specialty beers, right? Or is that just the price if you're grabbing something from a gas station or convenience store?

    • @johnniemartin4798
      @johnniemartin4798 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jdmillerYT yes, the higher the price, the more local the brewery. I’m able to pick it up in the higher priced grocery stores (usually not Walmart, sams or target) but I usually don’t buy unless I tasted a glass from the brewery tap so I know what I’m getting.

      @@johnniemartin4798 Right! Don't want to drop a lot of coin if you don't like something. My son is an IPA fan. I am not. 😄 I think they all taste like grapefruit.

    I find it interesting that the first comment is from someone who lives in San Diego....as I do, however the cost of things can vary greatly within the same county. The cost of gasoline aside, I live on 10 acres in a rural area of north San Diego County. I live in a 25 . travel trailer so of course my mortgage payment is quite low as are my energy costs; $65 p/month for propane and zero to the utility company for electricity since I have a 6.5 kw off-grid PV system. But to be fair, my energy system was $12k so if I estimate a cost of say, $90 per month, my system will require 10 years to pay off, BUT will be "free" after that. I wonder if solar is a viable option in VA ?? I find the only significant item is the cost of real estate. I must admit the I had never heard of a tax on personal property and find it truly outrageous and have to ask, how can folks in VA tolerate such a thing ? That could be a deal breaker for me when considering a move to anywhere in VA. And property taxes are especially high in the city of Lynchburg....how do they justify that ? As the other commenter mentioned with the $800k average here, I've come to the conclusion this place is not sustainable, at least for me for the long term since I want to essentially retire and be able to live on my SS....not gonna happen on So Cal ! I really appreciate your channel !

      It was the first time I had to deal with personal property taxes myself. Personally, I wish we could come up with some kind of tax system that did NOT tax real estate and did NOT tax personal property. (It just feels like you never “own” it.) I’d be up for an increase in other taxes if we could eliminate real estate and personal property taxes.
      Solar is an option here. I see homes with solar panels on. You have weigh the cost and benefits and how long you plan to live in a house.
