This is the third video of Spencley Design that I have watched with a click bait title that is not addressed in the video at all. I won't be watching any more.
This is the very reason why I have not tried one of these boards. You got way more patience than I do for a cutting board brother. I have to say though it turned out awesome. “ I was board” 😂
Pretty cool. I’ve always been a leader and enjoyed being differently. This board is definitely differently, I give you kudos on your patience with this build. A lot more cuts, gluing, and clamping than people realize!
Did I miss something,or was this title clickbait Little disappointed but the style and warm personality made up for it Goodluck on making this a fulltime gig
The clickbait titles are kind of a thing with him. He seems like a good dude and I like his content but the titles that have nothing to do with the video are annoying.
Clever design and creation of the cutting boards, learned a bit here on how to do that. My shop is in the barn here in MO and glue ups have to move inside for the winter. I do have a wood stove but it takes hours to get things warm and I'm normally done by that time. Have the same planer.
I work out of a single car garage doing the same thing you do. I bought a heater from Amazon. It hangs off the ceiling and its amazing. Working in the winter, no problem. Working in a t shirt. Its 220 volt, but i also wired in a sub panel box to handle this and a few other machines. It solved my problems of tripping breakers too. Keep up the good work!
I like the chaotic pattern of the board. It looks nice. I to have an apartment garage with two outlets. one on the wall and one on the rafters to plug in the garage door opener. Heating the garage is not an option. I pack up shop when it gets too cold to work out in the garage.
So in the video you said you're just doing this as a proof-of-concept, no client requested this..? But the title says you sold it for $700? Which is it? Are you giving us a clickbait title? After a while it starts to get so chaotic it looks like OSB.
yet another cool video where you entice people by calling it something and then not directly addressing what you called it. So you called it "my first ever cutting board sold for $700", but then the video said you weren't making it to sell it... so... did you sell it or not? If you want to keep MY thumbs up coming... please... address these discrepancies. Rock on, brother. Good stuff. And you hit the nail on the head with regard to why I have not yet ever made a cutting bored. However, I go a different route, and have just tried my turn at some hand-chiseled doevtali joints. They're ugly, but I learned a lot.
The random patterned cutting board is personally not my cup of tea, but I applaud the craftsmanship and creativity that went into building this nevertheless.
Ah, I've seen chaotic boards for sale at craft fairs before and couldn't for the life of me work out how they did it! So much easier when you see. They're surprisingly beautiful.
Sitting here in my shop LMAO! The first projects I completed were cutting boards and I quickly lost interest because I wanted more creativity in my projects. The next thing I built was a guillotine style can crusher because I melt cans in addition to woodworking 😂
Looks like you glued end grain to end grain. 😂 that will fall apart. I'm glad you told me that you were using the table saw and track saw. I would never have known otherwise because I'm blind 😂
When you make you next random batch of random cutting boards run the boards through your router table on edge. This greatly reduces the chance of blow out.
Can I ask where you got $700 from? I have a hard time pricing my projects and am genuinely curious how you got that figure. I don't think I could sell that piece for more than $200-$300.. Maybe $400 if I had an established name.
When I first started, I made much better 3D patterns of which there are plenty on TH-cam. This is just junk stuck together without any attempt to make a pattern.
Well I appreciate it man! Which one of those was your favorite? I’m considering doing something similar to that once construction lumber isn’t so expensive
$700 for that basic cutting board, whatever. This guy likes to slap all these ridiculous prices he says he sold something for and i dont believe it for one second.
Why? I’ve sold plenty of boards for well over $1000 With the amount of labour that goes into these types of projects, it is stupid to sell them for anything less. 1 week just to do the glue up… Nvm the rest of the entire project 🤷♂️
Title was about a first cutting board that sold for $700 then 3/4 of the way through the video it was stated that this was a personal test project…? Weird.
I like your channel but I down voted for the unethical dishonest click bait and switch. You claim to have sold it for $700 in title yet in the video you tell us you weren't going to sell and that it might be unfit to sell. Don't make me unsubscribe. Recently, I watched a video on another channel that said something along the lines of he could have made a clickbait title but he isn't Eric Spencely. And your titles were already annoying. Stumpy nubs did a video in ethical vs unethical clickbait.
Eric how did you sell it for $700.00? I’ve looked on Etsy , and I haven’t seen them going for that high. What’s your secret to get people to pay more? Thanks, Dennis
I wonder the same. People in regular towns certainly don’t go to top end boutiques to buy a chopping board, in fact most won’t pay over about 30 bucks even for a pretty one. Big stores sell cheap thrown together Chinese offerings at bargain box prices. Eric naturally values his time and expects to get a good hourly rate for his work input…but how he extracts that at the retail end amazes me.
All these TH-cam clickbait subject lines, vastly overstating the sale(s) price of their products....I'm not sure if they are hilarious or just pathetic. It's the woodworking version of the fisherman's 50lb trout that "just got away". $700 for a cutting board? Uh huh. Riiiiight.
You sold it for $700. I don’t believe it…You also made 2 cutting boards and they were small and not too difficult. Did you sell both? Or did you not sell them? I don’t get it…
I seriously doubt that sold for $700. If that's true, more power to ya but... it would be more useful if you can tell me where I can find fools with money to burn.
Nah, at 6:10 or something he says that he isn’t selling it to a client. But based on materials used and hourly wage+ the countless glue ups. He came to the calculation that if he would sell and it would have to make a decent profit from doing stuff like this, it would have to sell for 700 approx
So you sold an average cutting board for $700 except for you actually didn’t and never even intended to. Clickbait crap that deserves more people unsubscribing.

Yeah it's pretty bad. I've been following him for a while but the clickbait is actually driving me to unsubscribe
Clickbait is the same as lying. He has no credibility and lost a subscriber.
Well you are dumb, because when I clicked on the video I instantly scrolled to the end and only wasted 10 seconds of my life.
That makes 4 he lost right here

Who in their right mind would pay 700 for a cutting board
This is the very reason why I have not tried one of these boards. You got way more patience than I do for a cutting board brother. I have to say though it turned out awesome. “ I was board” 😂
Haha it’s definitely not anything I want to do again. There was A TON of downtime during all of the glue ups!
Pretty cool. I’ve always been a leader and enjoyed being differently. This board is definitely differently, I give you kudos on your patience with this build. A lot more cuts, gluing, and clamping than people realize!
Thanks! This one was pretty brutal to do. Took about a week just for all the glue ups 🤣
@@SpencleyDesignCo I believe it!

Yeah i tend to never watch creators again if they clickbait like this

exactly!!
The random patterned cutting board is personally not my cup of tea, but I applaud the craftsmanship and creativity that went into building this nevertheless.
Definitely not my favorite style, but it was a concept I had stuck in my head that I just had to get out haha
I currently live in an apartment. Do you get any noise complaints?
That turned out beautiful... I'm all for creative uses for scrap wood. Any woodworker has LOTS of it... I need to give this a try sometime.
Ah, I've seen chaotic boards for sale at craft fairs before and couldn't for the life of me work out how they did it! So much easier when you see. They're surprisingly beautiful.
Yeah they’re really easy but they take A TON of time since there are some many glue ups 😀
Nice reference to Shaun Boyd at the end... the music and the pun
Thanks for watching!
I’m very new to woodworking. Where is the best place to buy lumber to make cutting boards?
Masking tape on your bar clamps keeps the glue off. Awesome to see what your doing in you little shop.👍🏼✨👍🏼✨
Sitting here in my shop LMAO! The first projects I completed were cutting boards and I quickly lost interest because I wanted more creativity in my projects. The next thing I built was a guillotine style can crusher because I melt cans in addition to woodworking 😂
Can I ask where you found the humming audio track at the end?
they turned out great, have to give this a try one day. looks like a lot of fun! 😀👍
Thank you! Yeah it’s kinda fun to see what you can come up with but there’s a lot of downtime with all the glue ups!
I looked are for a natural chopping board but it is like looking for a needle 🪡 in a hay stack
Looks like you glued end grain to end grain. 😂 that will fall apart.
I'm glad you told me that you were using the table saw and track saw. I would never have known otherwise because I'm blind 😂
5:30 "I'm not selling this board to a client"
Dafuq is that title then?
I'm shocked that didn't blow out the back of the planner in chunks!
I actually liked the randomness of the boards.
I. You want to send them to me in the UK, I'll gladly keep you updated on them?, 😉👍🇬🇧
Good effort mate (I certainly wouldn't have the patience or the glue to go that far lol!)
I'm really curious how this held up? Could you give us an update, please? I've been wanting to do something like this.
I don't know anyone on planet Earth who would buy a $700 cutting board. This is ridiculous!
When you make you next random batch of random cutting boards run the boards through your router table on edge. This greatly reduces the chance of blow out.
? How so
What is an apartment garage? Is it like a garage you rent that you have turned into a wood shop?
You forgot to put the decimal point between the 7 and the first zero.
Where did you purchase the power supply board look great
I’m not sure what a power supply board is
How to turn a lot of wood scraps into a even more wood scraps, a ton a sawdust, and a very small cutting board, lol
That came out nice.
Not bad for my first cutting board I’d say 😀
What kind of wood?
Ned’s attitude adjustment

That’s what my materials and labor came out to
How did you find a buyer at that price?? I’m guessing you knew them already?
He said in the video that he didn't make it to sell, which I think is him just admitting that the title is clickbait
Clickbait
Who ever purchased it for $700 bucks was a sucker.
When I first started, I made much better 3D patterns of which there are plenty on TH-cam. This is just junk stuck together without any attempt to make a pattern.
What a shitty thing to say. Coulda just kept scrolling.
Love it!.. Great creativity 👍
Good stuff bro! Some say “different”... I say Unique! Keep up the creativity!
Nice board, great video
You indicated that you weren't selling it, but the title clearly states otherwise? Nice cutting board though!
Turned out really great! 👏
You’re too kind! Thank you very much!
Can really see the artist in you come out on this one
Haha thanks, James! I’ve never really considered myself an artist, but this was a fun one as a little change of pace!
@@SpencleyDesignCo I would based on some. Of your standard lumber builds. With modern twists instead farmhouse

"I have no plan" 2 seconds later... "I'm gunna stagger these at approx 45° angle and you'll see why later"
Definition of a plan.
Just sayin 😄
So what about the $700 cutting board?
Bravo, good job :)
Thank you very much for the support! I really appreciate it!
No one pays $700 for a cutting board, pretty and you know how to use a planer.
Salamone would be proud of the ending.
Gotta love puns!
I don't know anyone who would spend that much on one cutting board.
Looks neat.
You’ll probably not care about this post, but your inclusion of high prices in the video title is trashy click bait, and as such, you’ve lost me.
Cool board but you say you sold it for $700 but didn't make it to sell - confused!
Just clickbait BS. TH-cam has become the Alibaba of videos and guys like these don't help.
Well done.
I’m starting my cutting board project thanks bro
Are you saying that board sold for $700? This was never addressed, or was this click bait?
Nothing but outright lying clickbait. He even says towards the end of the video that he was never even intending to sell it.
Send me the contact information of your buyer. I’ve got some toothpicks I’d like to sell for $50 a piece.
👍😀
**Sees scrap lumber**
**Use scrap lumber to make fancy board**

All that sawdust would go great with some epoxy and then turn it down into something else.

Awesome! I’m a little further south than that
