I have a self-confessed somewhat unhealthy obsession with Paul. He was just so freaking adorable back in the day. and then that deep voice paired with the accent and.... yeah. Such a shame the music business broke him because he's such a genius on the guitar.

I love these guys STILL here in 2024! I met a 1st cousin to Mike Score who was working at this big shop in Toronto .. back like ..2011 2012? Anyways .. I told him how I saw these guys at ALUMNI HALL at Western University in London Ontario , 1986.. that was a good year for live shows actually cause I saw the CULT and Tear for Fears at same venue also in '86.. Lucky for me London was just big enough for allot of really awesome acts to come.. otherwise we had to truck down to Toronto to catch them.. or God forbid Detroit!

@@TylerDurden-oy2hm That's ridiculous. I agree that Andy Summers is way ahead. But of course the Edge is a guitarist. He's been playing the guitar for the past 50 years.

@@spurv I think that is just Edge's humility. He probably genuinely thinks that. He probably means that he is not a 'technical' guitarist like these blues and metal guitarists are. But to me, Edge is far more interesting to listen to than the 'technical' guitarists, who mostly sound 'same-y' to me.

Paul has said he started playing when he was around 10, so he had not been playing very long when he joined then band in early 1980 when he was just 17. To have that kind of talent & technique at that age... definitely a prodigy/musical genius.

Added to that, he is one of the most unique and creative artists ever to play the guitar, having created one of the riff's that will last long after we depart the scene.

I liked Flock of Seagulls but what helped kill bands like this were silly things like the stupid haircuts. But what all killed more innocent music like this was that society became very violent, probably because of drugs like crack, so rap became the soundtrack for this crap society.
