Isn't the knowledge we believe most sincerely also the stuff we should question most ardently? For me, this is the best proof that religions do not seek truth at all. Respect has no utility whatsoever for anything genuinely worthy of respect. It has great usefulness to the fraudulent however, because it is what stops us from questioning and scrutinizing the knowledge, people, and institutions we cherish. Thus, things like the first commandment seem like "red flags" that should give us pause.
