    I cycled bicycle via Iron Knob on my way from Sydney to Perth and slept one night in there in 2007....it was beautiful road....

    I last stopped there n 1998 on my way out to Lake Gairdner, with a Toyota Coaster towing my race car behind me. A bunch of us would meet up from around Australia before taking the track out to the salt. Even ran into a bloke from Long Beach California .. Sure has decayed massively since then .

    Was first at Iron knob in 1997 then last in 2016 when the roadhouse was still intact. its so sad to see the township get smaller year by year.

      Definitely a shame to see how it’s declining, I had a few stops at the pub there in the 90’s and it was going strong back then.

    Crikey - there is a blast from the past. We went through there in 1969 and it was a pretty happening place then - haven't been there since then though. I hadn't even heard the name since then until I came across your video - that is what prompted me to have a look at what you put together - impressive.

    It's sad to see these Roadhouses go like that..I remember over here in Central Queensland, two going like that on the way from Rockhampton to Mackay, it was Kununurra and Claireview..and they'd be ⛽ n Toilet 🚻 stops for my kids and I going to Townsville to see family.

    Sad mate, the closure of the mine destroyed the town. Guess that's another thing we have to thank the Greens for, on the plus side there's some dirt cheap houses there if you don't mind living 50km from the nearest town.

    • @ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide
      @ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it’s a damn shame as it was a nice little town when the mine was going, some great facilities that went to waste.

      There’s no real business left there now, just a caravan camping spot with toilets and that’s about it. Very sad for what was once a nice town. Pretty sure the pub stopped doing anything once covid restrictions kicked in. Not sure If it got going again since then.

      Yeah I remember stopping in there around 2000/2001 and the local pub burnt down a week earlier so the locals were drinking at the roadhouse until there was a portable building setup on pub site.
