One of my favourite subtle magic thing is stitching sigils and symbols on my clothes. Usualy in same-colored thread inside of them: a protection charm in the lining of a winter coat, a prosperity sigil inside a pocket, a little something for confidence inside the cuff of your best interview shirt... There's so many possibilities!
-leaving offerings for the nonhuman world (birdseed, squirrel feeders, etc) -meditation -ritual showers or baths -setting intentions and tracking the moon cycles -visualization -grounding yourself by walking barefoot or lying on the ground -enchanting your jewelry or wardrobe -don't underestimate the power of a broom for cleansing! And almost every home has one! ☺️
Not sure if this is considered subtle but I enjoy boiling cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and star anise during the Fall/Winter in water for a long time. Then once liquid is cooled down I pour into bottles to use for protective hand rinse and even for negative energy banishment. It makes my entire home and outside my home smell amazing!
I love to put orange peels, whole cloves and cinnamon sticks in a large pot of water on the stove simmering. The scent is wonderful. I also buy fresh sage at the grocery stove and put it in one of my dehydraters. I feel so wonderful breathing in the scent.
I actually had a friend ask if I liked the mortar & pestle I ordered online "to expand my cooking repertoire" because she was interested in trying fresh herbs. One can hide all kinds of behaviors in the kitchen if one so chooses... LOL
My everyday practice is meditation and drawing energy from the earth or the planets . Also I love making sigil for everything and also I am an artist, so I tend to create a lot, drawing a lot and cooking also with intention every time.
I draw runes on myself with my lotion before I rub it in. Whatever correlates for the day. Ex: If I'm having a rough patch with mental health I draw a protection rune and a rune for happiness.
Beautiful, Annie. Thank you! You've reminded me to pin herb bundles around my house, and this year I've decided, since I have opened my practice to my loved ones, and live alone, I will expand my already witchy/nature style and just surround myself with what nature I can, especially coming into the snowy season. Sending love to you and Hazel and Grimmy. Thank you for you.
I'm not Wiccan, but there are a lot of Christmas decorations that can do double duty. A tree topper angle and a nutcracker can be goddess and god. Lots of star tree decorations look like pentacles, I know I have seen some at the Dollar Tree made of wood on a plaid background. Willow Tree figures are popular with evangelicals, and they have many that can represent the elements, sabbath and so on
I was out of practice for quite awhile, due to health issues and the serious bout of depression and anxiety that came with not knowing what was wrong with me. I finally got a diagnosis of gout, and another unspecified autoimmune issue that my doc suspects is sjogrens disease. I received treatment, and it helped, but my own herbal medicine and the practice is what resolved my issues. I am entirely out of the closet now, and determined to help others with these kinds of issues. Thanks for your suggestions, they are a great way to ease my family and friends into a better understanding of how magic can help them.
Drawing sigils with moon water is a great hidden practice. Protective sigils on doors and windows, sigils for peace and harmony on walls, sigils on yourself or your pets… It doesn’t show or smell, so it’s completely hidden. If anyone asks why you have a bottle of water in your space it’s obviously just water for drinking. You can even take a sip and show them. If you want you can use water from different moon phases for different sigils. Also, cleaning your space physically is a great way to cleanse it. Again, you can use moon water or just regular cleaners. Work anti-clockwise through the room and wipe the surfaces in an anti-clockwise movement. Clean with the intention to also get rid of stagnant or heavy energy, and put some extra care into the spaces where very little movement happens: corners, nooks and crannies. Sing or hum if you like, to fill your cleansed space with some happy energy, or listen to music that makes you feel good. No one can call you out for cleaning!
I was thinking of plant magic and moon magic, and sort of combining them like for example gather moon water and then water or spray plants with it, i think it's a wonderful way to honor the plants you take care of and implement moon phases into your life
Hanging crystals My “salt collection” Dried flowers My “motherly intuition” when someone needs something. “How did you know?!” 😏 Creating a calm, soothing, peaceful and positive atmosphere in all spaces in my home.
I got my first book around 1985, Buckland's big blue book, and found home. One of my first spells was a protection bottle. I found a Jagermiester nipper bottle, cleaned it, and brought it to the beach. I put a little sand in the bottom, a tiny shell and some bladderwrack. Filled it with sea water, and charged it. It's been sitting on my bookshelf looking like just another knick knack for many years. Many times magic can hide in plain sight.
Beautiful video! I work a lot with herbal teas and long-simmering broths. But recently I’ve been trying to build a morning routine that includes grounding and centering my energy for the day. I’m a sucker for high quality all-natural candles, I look for ones that match my intentions. If someone asks, I just say I only want natural fragrances in my house. All these things would likely fly under the radar in strict environments but if you want to test the waters, start tracking the moon phases. Don’t worry about doing rituals for them, just observe them as they happen 😊
I have been a closeted green witch for a couple of years, and tend to love the earth and the kitchen more than anything. However, I'm trying to reach out and explore because winter time is draining my positive energy because I miss my green 😅
Yeah... Those things kinda go hand in hand, don't you think? Like us gays (whatever flavour gay) are always in a witchy limbo reaching out for something that makes sense to us...
I love hanging found objects on driftwood pieces or tree branches and making a mobile or wall hanging. (Some may call them witch’s ladder). I also have herbs tied to a wooden handled spoon (it sort of looks like a broom) but these are herbs I regularly use in cooking and simmer pots. It’s handy, it’s decorative, and I think it a nice way to have a “broom” without having a broom, you know? I just replenish herbs as needed. I am a therapist and an herbalist first and foremost, so everyone knows I always have “something cooking”. Like you, Annie, most of my herbal creations are made to support my counseling. It’s amazing how many people associate using herbs and hanging out in nature a “witch” thing?!? Let them think what they will! ✨💚✨
Something I like to do as a Caribbean/Hispanic is prepare an infusion with the herbs that matches my intent and live it to boil for a while and then filter to use it as a floor wash and mop my hole house with it 🤗 also a really cool one is just making tea or coffee and whisper or think my intent in to it while I move clockwise simple but effective 😉 also " shower " magic just enchant all your products or put them out with the moon of your intent
I use candle magic and those essential oil diffusers a lot. Also wearing infused oils such as protection, healing, creativity, money drawing oils, etc. 😊
I made my first floral syrup today! You have inspired me so much to deepen my relationship with the plants surrounding us and a massive delve into preparations! Thank you for your beautiful energy and sharing it❤
Hey I just got fully out of the broom closet the other day, thank you for the help when I started practicing 3ish years ago, I still check up to see if there's new things I need to know every now and then
Can you do a home flow for the green witch. Like a walkthrough of your house and how to best have a functional practical house. Where you keep herbs where. Like the fungshway house but green witch house.
For each season, my wife (who is Wiccan) uses a tobacco basket to make a decorative wreath for our front door. It usually has some flowers, leaves, herbs, and ribbons of color that she associates with that time of the year and what she hopes to have happen for us. Annie, I do have a question. The herbs you hang on the wall. Are they just for decor and spirituality or do you use those for cooking?
Kindest greetings!! I wanted to leave a comment thanking you for such an intimate and gentle introduction to your personal practice. You have been such a pivotal starting off point for developing my own solitary practice and inspired me to pursue my curiosities. You have provided a graceful approach to a more private and personal path. I really enjoyed how you push beyond just spells and intentions and incorporate writing journaling and studying. Its truly inspired me to discover my own deep connection to ancestral slavic paganism. I appreciate you and am sending all the warm and loving energy your way
Hello dear I'm your new subscriber and i really like your video and I'm interested in the Herbs also this time i work on my magical powers and your video connected me a lot keep growing dear 💚💚💚
pines! last spring i felt all the different trees, closest i felt was with pines, willows and firs. now i don´t even remember anymore, i haven´t touched a tree in months, they´re all half wet from the rain. in december i slowly start get back into it, after the snow decides to stay on the ground.. pines they go like half snowy here, half of the trunk is covered with snow. but it´s more a summer tree for me, i love how they get all warm and sticky in the summer, i put my hands on that stuff with purpose! i actually changed my name to that stuff when i was younger, but everybody still calls me with birth name, oh well (you can go against tradition but it doesn´t mean the others will accept it).

and of course pet names too.. as long as there has been descriptive words those have existed, and before words it was loving sounds, like the animals make when they´re happy (or unhappy sounds when unhappy). so many traditions on top of each other :) (the oldest ones, the ones you do without thinking)
Mine is lighting candles to saints which I am drawn too and do petition. So I am able to do petitions and it flys under the radar:) I infuse my candles write petitions.
You really don't need a specific recipe. You can choose the herbs and spices you use according to your intentions and their specific properties, or just because the fragrance is delightful. Orange peel is used for protection, and it is wonderful mixed with cinnamon sticks, while cloves, nutmeg, and allspice.
I love watching you make oils and infusions and such, but it often looks to me as if you make far more than enough for just one person? Do you ever have problems with wastage or do you make exactly as much as you need typically?
Palo santo sticks are like spiritual bleach. Use the same as sage but replace the residual vacuum with pre made positive vibes, totems etc so the neg can’t return. Easy Peasy 😊
I burry my Ash or left anything left over from a ritual under big Cedar in my yard. Ill Often offer Crows or Ravens food And intentionally let them know its for them. Some odd lil unnoticable ish things.
You spoke about anti-inflamatory herbs any you an recommend to make tea from? So far I have only found chamomile t have this beneficial effect.P.S. Great tips, as a closeted witch, I follow all of the above and no one bats an eye ;)
If you can't light candles because the people in your household would get suspicious and if you're a student you can say that you can't just live something burning in your room and go to another room to grab water every 5 minutes.
Hello! So I have a question. I am left-handed, and I tend to grab utensils and stir or motion counter-clockwise(this is natural for a lefty). I've heard how you shouldn't work spells this way, but I was wondering if there I'd a lefty exception haha. Any information is helpful!
I've never heard anything about not using the left hand. Stirring clockwise is used to stir intentions in, drawing something towards you. Stirring counter-clockwise is used for banishing, to push something away from you.
So I have been thinking of making a salve for protection for myself...I am starting a new job with a lot of new people and want my energy and self to be protected...is there any specific herb that I can infuse into the salve that might help the best?
The number of herbs that have protective properties is incredibly long. You might do an internet search for "magickal correspondences for protection". That will probably direct you to your choice of correspondence charts, which will give you dozens of possibilities. From there, so some more research to make sure that you are choosing something that is skin safe.
Always! Ground cinnamon, cloves, pumpkin pie spice, etc can bee found in good sized bottles at the Dollar Tree for $1.25. if your school lunch includes an orange, save the peel. Fresh or dried, orange peels are wonderful in simmer pots, and they are considered a protective herb. Dried apples or apple peels can be simmered, or dried and then kept in a bowl, alone or with citrus peels, with a sprinkling of fragrant spices. The Dollar Tree also has teas, which can be a really economical way get chamomile and other herbs and spices. You just can't beat 16 or so tea bags for $1.25. The more you learn, the less that you'll find that you need to buy stuff for your magic practice. If you want, and are allowed to burn candles, you can buy them at the same place. This is definitely a time when even more families than usual are having a hard time making ends meet. Although it definitely shouldn't have to fall on the shoulders of kids to take care of their family, perhaps you can learn to do some inexpensive (or free) money workings to draw money towards your household, or to help your family to hold on to more of their money. The things I use most often in my practice are inexpensive tea light or birthday candles, plain paper (or brown paper grocery bags that I repurpose, a sharp object to carve into the tealight candles, a lighter or matches, a pen, and a couple of markers. It doesn't cost anything to create a protection or prosperity sigil and draw it on yourself or your door with water you've charged, or draw a sigil under your doormat, or inside your backpack. Amino is a free app for pagans, witches, and other occult practitioners. If you find a forum to join there, I'm sure you could get lots more suggestions for free or very low cost ways to practice magick. I haven't ever specifically searched for it, which is pretty weird since I'm a disabled witch on a tight budget, but even an internet search will probably turn up a lot more budget friendly ideas. The bottom line is that the most important magickal tool of all is yourself and your focus and your intentions. I wish you much luck young witchling, and never been afraid to ask questions! 🖤🖤🖤
Cleansing spray for room and most items: Salt and water. 1 tsp salt to 1 cup. It doesn't take much. Cleansing salt scrub: Add a little water or preferred oil(coconut/olive etc) to 1/2 cup epsom salt. Hands first, then head to toe. (Don't scrub your face. Just neck down then dissolve remain salt in water to dump your head to finish.) Dollar Tree- Emergency Candle 6 Pack. Melt bottom of Candle to stick to the surface of a plate. Or tea lights. If you burn incense or sage/other plant material, save the ash in a jar. You can use it to imbue salt with more intention or properties. I keep a salt shaker with left over ash and salt to sprinkle in the corners. Go to the library and borrow books on recognizing common plants in your area. You'll be surprised how much you can gather and dry on your own. Depending where you live, you may have pine, hibiscus, dandelion, mullein, sage, yarrow, mint etc. growing wild. You can make your own tools. Just go outside into some nature and you'll find stuff.

Love your videos and appreciate these tips! However, I personally object to the term "broom closet(ed)". Choosing to follow this path is not at all the same as being born queer, and I find appropriating the terminology is inappropriate and even disrespectful to those of us who have actually had to live in the closet.
I am gay myself and had to come out of that closet and continue over and over again as we all do in life. I hear you and I respect your feelings on that. It is certainly a very different thing as it is a choice to practice. Personally, as a queer person, it does not carry that same feeling of disrespect for me as it does for you and I first heard this term from the mouths of other queer practitioners. Having said that, though, I do not speak for everybody and I will keep in mind that this may be an inappropriate phrasing for future times.
@@TheGreenWitch Firstly, thank you for this thoughtful response! I can totally appreciate that we have different experiences with this! I certainly don't mean to invalidate your queerness or imply that you "can't" use the term, or even that I feel disrespected by you specifically. There are absolutely correlations and it makes sense why the term is used by private practitioners. In my personal experience, I've only ever heard it out of the mouths of straight white women for whom witchyness is purely an aesthetic (I'm sure you're familiar with the type) and that's more generally what I was trying to point out. But thank you for considering my comment, I look forward to learning more from you!
Yes
I love this! I will 100% be putting this into my practice. Thank you so much for sharing!
I did this to my yoga mat. Sigils, bind runes... that mat makes every time I use it extra special
this is a great suggestion, thank you for sharing.
-leaving offerings for the nonhuman world (birdseed, squirrel feeders, etc)

im not in the closet, ill let people know if they ask, but im the type that prefers to not draw attention to myself if possible, this was lovely 💛
If anyone else is having a difficult time after this eclipse season: You are not alone, and this will pass❤
I feel like time has frozen and I'm inside a bubble like existence, which isn't so bad but that's how I am feeling right now.
Oh good so it’s not just me
Not sure if this is considered subtle but I enjoy boiling cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and star anise during the Fall/Winter in water for a long time. Then once liquid is cooled down I pour into bottles to use for protective hand rinse and even for negative energy banishment. It makes my entire home and outside my home smell amazing!

One of the first things I would do would be staring directly into the moon and chanting words or affirmation and love.
Drawing sigils with moon water is a great hidden practice. Protective sigils on doors and windows, sigils for peace and harmony on walls, sigils on yourself or your pets… It doesn’t show or smell, so it’s completely hidden. pines!
last spring i felt all the different
trees, closest i felt was with pines,
willows and firs.
now i don´t even remember anymore,
i haven´t touched a tree in months,
they´re all half wet from the rain.
in december i slowly start get
back into it, after the snow decides
to stay on the ground.. pines they
go like half snowy here, half of the
trunk is covered with snow.
but it´s more a summer tree for me,
i love how they get all warm and
sticky in the summer, i put my hands
on that stuff with purpose!
i actually changed my name to that
stuff when i was younger, but everybody
still calls me with birth name, oh well
(you can go against tradition but it
doesn´t mean the others will accept it).
luckily both my birth names
are also from nature, one means
the river, to which i have a
big connection to, the other
one means the bird cherry tree,
to which i have a connection
for about a week in may (white
flowers), other than that i
don´t even notice those trees
(strange smell also).
most of the traditional names
here are either nature words
or descriptions of animal / human
characteristics (originally the
two were considered the same).
if it was just one name it
would be easier to understand but
because (at least in later times)
they gave multiple names (one
at birth, other one at teething
or other sign, for the child´s
protection spirit) it becomes
complicated.
i would say originally it was
either no names or secret names
only, protective names, you would not
say those names aloud, unless need be
(you would instead use the relative
terms, like people still do for
close family).
also what´s interesting is that each
tribe had their own general name
for children, that´s why even from the
late folklore you can tell to which
tribe they originally belonged to
(if you call your kids tenavat
then it´s the elk tribe, but if pennut
then bear or wolf tribe).
it´s the same as with the tribe names,
there was no general word for humans,
because only the people from your
tribe were considered humans, the
others were "others", sometimes friends,
sometimes enemies.. probably why they
invented the inter-totemic marrying
customs (it´s always two or three
totems that make up the larger unit),
from enemies to kin :)
and of course pet names too..
as long as there has been
descriptive words those have existed,
and before words it was loving
sounds, like the animals make
when they´re happy (or unhappy
sounds when unhappy).
so many traditions on top of
each other :)
(the oldest ones, the ones you do
without thinking)
Thanks for the video…lots of great tips…stay warm…take care!!
I have a sheperd too. They are the best 💜❤️
Thank you 4 the video I'm a beginner
Thank you…. You’re videos are wonderful ❤

Awesome video I do simmer pots often.
Love your ideas. Thank you for sharing. Where can I find your prosperity cookie recipe?
Needed this, thank you!!
Thanks for the video
Loved your video today, thanks so much. Where do I find recipes for simmer pots? It sounds so good and I'd love to try. Thanks so much friend.
You really don't need a specific recipe. You can choose the herbs and spices you use according to your intentions and their specific properties, or just because the fragrance is delightful. Orange peel is used for protection, and it is wonderful mixed with cinnamon sticks, while cloves, nutmeg, and allspice.
I love to leave honey and candy on my altar, and I like to enchant my jewelry!!
Also my parents have started to question why I use garlic in my food so much 😂
I love watching you make oils and infusions and such, but it often looks to me as if you make far more than enough for just one person? Do you ever have problems with wastage or do you make exactly as much as you need typically?
Lovely
Palo santo sticks are like spiritual bleach. Use the same as sage but replace the residual vacuum with pre made positive vibes, totems etc so the neg can’t return. Easy Peasy 😊
We should change 'broom closeted' to CLOAKED!
I like that a lot!
Are you still only cooking for other people? Beautiful video!
Thank you! 🥰
I burry my Ash or left anything left over from a ritual under big Cedar in my yard. Ill Often offer Crows or Ravens food And intentionally let them know its for them. Some odd lil unnoticable ish things.
Can you please give us your prosperity cookie recipe?
You spoke about anti-inflamatory herbs any you an recommend to make tea from? So far I have only found chamomile t have this beneficial effect.P.S. Great tips, as a closeted witch, I follow all of the above and no one bats an eye ;)
Lovely.
Love the puppy bombs!
What were those small red berries? please, Thanks
Can you do cheap alternatives? I don’t have much money, my parents said we won’t have a good Christmas so it’d mean a lot:)
Just neck down then dissolve remain salt in water to dump your head to finish.)
Dollar Tree- Emergency Candle 6 Pack.
Have you been a Green Witch for a long time 😀😀

- KaRTAPHILUS- the only person left of the Roman Empire!!! Don't leave your broom in the closet too long? It might fly away without you?
