Thank you for explaining that it doesn't need to be super tight and that the auto will compensate.

Absolutely! Most patient's over the years have come in big indentations on there face. Or open sores, and cuts on there nose. Trying to eliminate any type of leakage. I have to remind them especially with these Auto units. Comfort is king I say when it comes to CPAP therapy. Loosen the mask allow the pressure to cause the seal and it will be able to move with you as well. I am glad the video helped that is the intention hopefully. Let me know if anything else is needed, I would be happy to help!

      Hey Daniel,
Hope I did not say in the wrong way, lol! I just do not want people to stress the wrong things. They start with fixing there sleep apnea to trying so hard to stop leakage they drive themselves crazy.

I've tried two nasal pillows and each one has given me scabs inside my nose. I even tried using nasal canula gel and that did not work either. Do you have any tips for me regarding nasal pillows? Thanks for the info

Thanks for this video! I have the nasal pillows and I just started using it last Friday and I noticed a sore on the opening of my left nostril. What do you mean by there needs to be a lip on the nostril? Thanks so much!!!

Absolutely! I appreciate you watching. I always advise patient over the years. If your getting irritation usually inside the back of the nostril just go up a size on the pillow. I just mean it should not be the exact size of the nostril it needs to have a little lip around the outside of the nostril for comfort.

I have a fairly new CPAP user. After two weeks of using the nasal pillow (Lg), the skin around the nares was so painful, that I was unable to sleep at all! I’m going to try some aloe Vera gel and see if that helps.

      Hi,
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, are you maybe allergic to the silicone? If not I was going to suggest you may be jamming them too tight into the nostril. There should be a little bit of a lip around the nostril In those most cases, I advise patients to go up a size on the pillow. Is there a lip around the outside of the nostril or is the whole pillow going into the nostril.

@@Sleeplayground , thanks for the information, however, that issue has been resolved. No longer hurts at all using the pillow and since I put this notice up about a month ago, I’m getting night after night of pain-free sleep with number of the events under 5.

I’ve been using CPAP for 4 1/2 months, and I have never missed a day. I have no claustrophobia and I enjoy the air pressure when I’m falling asleep… it feels sort of cozy. The problem is I do have pain from the mask. Your video helped a lot. The worst and most upsetting thing is that my fatigue (the reason I had a sleep study in the first place) is still making me miserable. It has not improved at all. My pressure is very low (7-9) and my AHI is below 1 EVERY DAY. It started at 30. Would a higher pressure help with the fatigue? Thanks so much!

Thanks for reaching out! Not necessarily, I would say to go back to the doctor to determine if an addition to oxygen or another form of therapy may be needed. If you have been sleeping for long periods with no sleep apnea there may be another issue involved. Let me know if I can help further I will be happy to.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I have my first appointment with a sleep specialist in 2 1/2 months. Could you please tell me, to be called “cured” of OSA, would your AHI need to be 0 or 6? … and for how long?… And do you need to be off CPAP for a period of time before your AHI is checked again?
Thank you so much for being willing to answer my questions! I could tell you are a nice man! 😊

When I loosen my mask, I get leaks. The leak does not bother me, but where the location of the leak bothers me. It happens towards the bridge of my nose and it blows into my eyes and wakes me up. Do you have any suggestions?

I am using the philips dreamwear mask and i am dealing with a sore on the tip of my nose on the left nostril what can i do to treat it?

    • @Sleeplayground
      @Sleeplayground  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi,
Sorry to hear that! That is surprising to hear, especially with that mask. It goes under the nostril unless you are putting your nose in it. The tip of your nose should not be touching the cushion. You can use a CPAP approved lotions and keep the are where the sore is clean by applying petroleum jelly or diaper cream. You might also have the mask on way to tight. Loosen it up make sure your comfortable.

      Hi,
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, that may happen you just need to pull it away and readjust! You do not always have to tighten. Just shifting the mask around might help.
