Kudos for being the first review out! Great job on it as well, appreciate the info!
Dude your videos never miss! You're the only person who clearly touched on ELMB vs ULMB2 and explained it perfectly. I am currently running a PG27AQN 360HZ with ULMB2 and I love it. Seeing if this is a worthy upgrade for me. I am extremely sensitive to text fringing and have returned two previous gen 27" OLEDs from ASUS because of that. This might be the one....
Thanks brother! 🍻

Been waiting since they announced this monitor at CES for it's drop, thank you so much for the great review. As I mostly play games that could definitely push 480hz (some not even in naitive resolutions) it definitely seems like my next (and hopefully endgame) monitor, providing the prices are as expected.
Thank you for being the literal only person who talks about using 24.5 inches mode when reviewing these GAMING ESPORT MONITORS

I've been waiting on this guy for about a year now lol. I'm rocking the Asus ROG Swift PG258Q since 2017 so I'm ready for the upgrade.
I don't want this to come off as this monitor not being a beast because it 100% is, but according to my testing, using DSC compression slows down alt-tabbing significantly. Even with HDMI 2.1 you're at 41.92 Gbit/s and the data rate without DSC compression requires around 56 Gbit/s to even manage 1440p 480 Hz so yes as already mentioned, you'd be forced to use DSC. I feel like that is a huge turn-off for me which is why I ended up going with the Asus 1440p 240 Hz version at 8 Bpc color depth since Displayport 1.3 and above handles it without DSC compression. But again, if you don't mind alt-tabbing being slower then it's absolutely a killer monitor with great features. The point with this comment was to simply share my findings after researching why alt-tabs were so slow for me. Edit: The easiest solution is of course to avoid Exclusive Fullscreen and run Fullscreen Windowed although I can't guarantee if that's going to affect input lag and you'd be forced to run the game on native res.
Don't use exclusive full screen
@@CriminalGameplay Sure, that works, but for competitive FPS games like CS2, which this type of monitor is primarily designed for, not using exclusive fullscreen can significantly increase input lag.
You will probably lose some features but I bet it is possible to set this monitor to run at 1440p 360hz 10bit without DSC when using HDMI 2.1 and 1440p 430hz 8 bit without DSC.
All you would have to do is download Custom Resolution Utility and make that resolution.
@@MrMaxim Most of the time windows handles this seamlessly, could you check with NVIDIA tools to see the input lag in both modes?
But you want to alt-tab or game with the monitor?

QDOled ftw, better colors and no stupid matte coating.
Im glad to see its WOLED with a matte finish because that means its just like the PG27AQDM which i own currently but with 2× the refresh rate and thats exactly what I want. The PG27AQDM has been the best monitor I've ever owned so I wouldn't want to make changes to it aside from it just being faster. I'll be buying the PG27AQDP as soon as it hits shelves. I've been patiently waiting for this one. This is my end game monitor. I will likely be keeping this one for the next 4-5 years.
What W-OLED monitors are coming out with the new sub-pixel layout? I'm 100% holding off for that, because I want the monitor to be a daily driver for everything. Also, your review was extremely helpful and on point.

BFI at 240Hz is what got me to change my order from the 4k 240 / 1080p 480 to this one in a heartbeat
the PG32UCDP also has BFI albeit at 240HZ-1080P or BFI at 120HZ-4K
@@RaffaeloVAL nobody mention this in the review thanks you just made it easier for me I am going with that just because I still game at 4k sometimes and the lg model can't run vrr at 1080p 480hz mode
Logically speaking the dual mode monitor should have 1080p 240hz bfi, it's an arbitrary limitation by Asus. At least they are doing BFI unlike other useless companies excluding such useful features.

Just ordered one today :) Was on the fence about going for a 360Hz OD-OLED and then saw my local store had this Asus 27" 1440P 480Hz listed. It arrives next week and will be the perfect addition for my recent 7800X3d RTX4090 build. The Asus PG27AQDP will replace my current main monitor which is the LG 32GQ850-B as I find 32" at 1440P is just too big for competitive FPS and I'm able to play much better on monitors sized between 24 and 27" Currently using Acer Nitro VG240YS 165Hz as my secondary display to play Warzone until the Asus arrives.

Just shows how good backlight strobing on LCDs is. Yes, OLED gets similar motion clarity if it runs at like 480fps or 240fps with black frame insertion. But LCDs can get that kind of motion clarity at like 120fps (of course without the smoothness of higher fps), which makes it more viable in a lot more games. This is also why VR with strobed LCD screens has so much better motion clarity than VR with OLED screens.
MiniLED is the future. OLED is just a stepping stone
No. MicroLED is the future, not MiniLED which exists already. And NO, watch blurbuster videos or RTINGs test. There is no way an LCD with 120 HZ is better than OLED with 240 hz strobing. There are miles apart. 240 HZ strobed vs 240 Oled the oleds STILL wins by miles.
@@1mm0r74l MiniLED will surpass OLED before MicroLED becomes mainstream
No, LCD with strobing DO get better motion clarity than OLEDs. Blutbusters have lots of content on this topic. Do some research
@@Violet-uiwell, I did my research, but you didn't. You are still spreading false information. Oled is much faster, much better response time and much better motion clarity when running at the same hz as LCD. When running the same hz strobe VS bfi then oled is MILES ahead.

I can’t decide whether to get this or one of the 32” 4k 240hz monitors, my real only concern not using 4k is I make videos in Assetto Corsa and I have always had a 4k panel and obviously the recordings look best in 4k however I also spend a lot of time playing shooting games mainly COD so having the performance of this monitor would be insane, currently running a 7900xtx atm planing on going 5090 so that would get me up to the 240 on a 4k panel but I just can’t help but feel like this might be the move, I currently run the Aorus FO48U 120hz so either is going to give a performance upgrade from where I am at with the refresh and latency, the dual mode LG definitely peaks my interest but I just feel the image quality in the 1080 setting is gonna be to subpar in COD for my liking
Great to see they improved the pixel scaling but another reviewer pointed out it was still blurry (compared to what native should be).
Another issue is that the 24.5″ simulated mode also apparently added 3ms of input lag - Any chance you can verify whether it adds input lag or not ?

That wallpaper is from Wallpaper Engine in steam. Its called like “cyberpunk city apartment” or something close but its almost always in the Top Rated list.
7:37 Great video!. But let me tell you, CRT's back then had 300hz refresh rate and we played games at 60 up to 100 fps at that time. It doesnt matter if you hit 480 Fps or not, its All about Clarity performance on motion. Competitive FPS will Know...
You're so wrong. If you are only putting 60 frames into a CRT the only thing you're getting is less flicker at those higher refresh rates and a bit less input lag with severely diminished resolution for a crt to push to 300hz.

Badseed, do you know when OLED 4k 240hz (in a 27inch format) will come out by Asus ??
Hey! Off topic here 😅 what LED tube lights do you have behind you leaning up against the walls?
My rig will be able to play XDefiant near 480hz at 1440p at medium-low settings and thats all that matters to me.
Something I would like to see in your reviews, can the ai gaming features be used with a console? Personally the only one I would want is the crosshairs. I feel like I get better hipfire in fps games using a static crosshair versus the one in game that shakes and usually stretches out to account for the recoil. And with one of the new features being a crosshair that adapts its color to what’s on screen I’m excited to upgrade my monitor experience to 4k @ 120hz on a monitor with hdmi 2.1.
The only bummer about this monitor is the matte coating, I just hate it.
i own the rog strix oled with the matte coating and own the glossy version , and there is absolutely no difference . lmao. The glossy on TVs are different to ones used in monitors. The rog glossy isn’t glossy like you’d think. the matte coating is completely unnoticeable in a dark room to me

When is this going to be on sale?
Badseed, do you think its worth buying this monitor with future proofing in mind considering how fast oled/monitor improvements happen each year?
you will have to ask this every year with this approach and never buy anything
What would you even be future proofing? Most games can't hit 480 fps because they are limited either by the cpu and/or the engine itself. 5 years from now you're not going to be playing PT cyberpunk or alan wake 2 at 480 fps. The types of games that will be running at 480 fps 5 years from now are extremely likely to be the same games we have now, or the same type of games. The only possible future proofing argument i could see being made is if frame generation techniques start generating multiple intermediate frames (dlss frame gen is already technically capable of generating 2 frames, it just isn't being done). I personally think that is the future we are heading towards, but who knows when that will be common-place.
The 4K 240hz dual mode is better future proofing if you don't mind matte. Non-competitve games will never hit 480hz no matter what black magic Intel and AMD do, which GPUs are making higher resolution more accessible each year.
Do you happen to know why ELMB locks aspect control? They are completely unrelated features and I bet a lot of people would want to run them together, so why limit it that way?
We need a 1440p. 24inch 240hz monitor …
hey! could you please compare this to the LG variant
ASUS DESERVES more
I understand that input latency differences are usually negligible, but given the quirks of alt-tabbing and with Nvidia features disabled, I was hoping that this display would support DP 2.1. I'm assuming the upcoming 5000 series from Nvidia will support DP 2.1. It doesn't appear that the this model has MediaTek's new G-Sync scaler. I'm curious if any of the upcoming 480Hz WOLED variants will have DP 2.1 or the new MediaTek G-Sync scaler. Does a dedicated G-Sync module (or the new MediaTek G-Sync scaler) bring any benefits to OLED monitors? With LCD we'd see variable overdrive, any benefits for OLEDs?
Also curious for those that hate DSC from a performance perspective to see benchmarks or data supporting that. I don't disregard it, but I think BadSeed has measured it on/off before with no difference.
I would love a monitor like that for gaming. But since I work a lot from home I won't buy one

If you don't play FPS the 4k 240hz monitors are MUCH BETTER in every way.

You wouldn't. DSC is one of those IYKYK things, doesn't bother most people. I break it down pretty easy in the video I just released about the Sony INZONE M10S monitor.
