Nice! I was a bit confused why I can't raise P90s on my guitar- glad to find confirmation that some manufacturers use foam instead of springs to mount them. They do have a bit of give, but it feels like the foam is glued to both pickups and the body, so I was a bit worried about just ripping them out.
So, thanks for the video! Now that I know how they're mounted, I can swap the foam pads for a fresh ones, springs, or maybe a combination of both:)

Soapbars are not the only type of P90... you completely ignored dogears.which are confusing to many people because the only way to adjust them is with spacers. You also didn't talk about the affects of pickup height or adjusting the pole screws... Well maybe your third P90 video will be the charm.

We’ll break down that more into the future where needed. We ignored them because this video addressed specific ones in the guitar. Maybe the third one will be acceptable? We tried to cover a lot of topics in this one and there more to go for sure and cut it down because people complain about the length. All we’re trying to to is get content out there, always open to improvements and reasonable suggestions. Glad you took the time to watch, take care!

use a manual driver. you'll have much finer control and be able to dial things in far more accurately (we're talking fractions of a turn)

We've done this a lot so we're used to it and how it works, but in general yes, use something with less power if you're inexperienced.

I have a soapbar P90 scenario (on 2 diff guitars) where they will work their way up while playing...the 2 height adj screws will end up touching the strings & the pickup itself will also be higher than what i set it to. Is this a foam vs screws thing? One is a Duncan and the others are on a Revstar std.

Interesting. Maybe they slowly worked their way back up? The threads on many p90 screws are quite small so they may not trip into the wood much, or you might have more dense foam that is trying to expand back a bit. If the hole is larger for the screws it might be not as secure as you screw or down to lower the pickup. Just a guess but I could see that contributing to it possibly

@@PorterPickups kinda odd for it to be happening on more than 1 guitar...it only takes like 5 or so minutes after i start playing, guess the 2 screws vibrate out of the mounting underneath. thx for reply/thoughts!

@@musefan69 that is strange for sure. We’ve not seen it happen to any shop p90 guitars or customer ones for that matter

I won’t solder this way (making a hook) because it’s very boring if you need to change your pot !!

as long as you have good contact it's usually fine, and yes, pulling things back out can be a pain!
