      @@alessandro_inno I disagree. We truly don't know what Kurt's voice would have sounded like this late in his career had he not passed away. He was known by his fans for sharing his heart, his pain and his soul in his songs by doing vocals like this. Kurt didn't do it to be 'proper' nor 'pretty' or 'glamorous,' etc. It was meant to be ugly.
      As far as this video is concerned, it isn't fair to compare him to Freddy Mercury in this stance. Freddy was a different type of vocalist than Kurt. Each have their own place. Just my opinion, both are great vocalists though🤘😊

    For the Kurt Cobain vocals, he actually blew out his voice during the end of Territorial Pissings, which is the song those vocals are from.
    The story is they were having a hard time getting the sound of Lithium the way they wanted, so they took a break and did Territorial Pissings (got my history mixed up here, they took a break and did Endless Nameless, sorry everyone!). Kurt plugged his guitar directly into the Mixing Board and the band played it live in studio in one take.
    What you hear at the end is Kurt getting so into the song he screams the vocals and the last few second are the sounds of Kurt's voice giving out.
    They had to stop recording for the day, but the result is legendary!
    Correction: As a few people pointed out below, while taking a break from recording Lithium, the band ended up jamming and recorded Endless Nameless, the hidden track on Nevermind, which is where the guitar got smashed and that is the weird guitar feedback you hear in the last 40 or so seconds of Endless Nameless. However, Kurt still blew out his voice for Territorial Pissings, the guitar was plugged directly into the Mixing Board and the band performed it together live, in Studio in one take.

      @tickbox_ ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@klocke5247 Speaking as both a recording musician and a sound engineer, claiming that the tracks “must be recorded separately” is just not true. Plenty of modern band still record together in the room. They then possibly add other multi-tracked layers on top, but the skeleton of the song at the very least is live. It’s down to the preference of the band and the sound they’re going for. You’re right, most bands probably record separately nowadays, but it’s not everybody. Besides, you can record live in the same room with completely separate recordings very easily today. In my band I play the drums and me, our guitarist and our bassist record live in the room together. They run straight to the desk so there’s no room noise apart from the drums, but we can hear each other in our in-ears. We don’t need to record that way, but it helps us get the energy of a track through more effectively. Then later we go back and add other elements, such as vocals and additional guitars.

    • @joleneloveland8911

      The past can be very useful especially in cases where it repeats itself. The past has a purpose or it would have never existed and no one would remember it. There are a lot of uses in recalling the past. It's not Dead, for you maybe, but at its very least it is a point of reference to envision a person's progress, which is very important when evaluating personal or professional growth.

    I'm by no stretch of the imagination, a vocalist but I know that singing in this way causes the vocal chords to rub against each other, this, in turn causes nodes to form on them. The end result is surgery which could cause one to not only lose their vocal ability in relation to singing, but also can cause one to lose their ability to vocalize all. There is actually a name for this type of thing, it's called the giraffe syndrome.
    Robert Gansert wrote about it in the classic,
    The Gantone method. 🤟

    If it was up to vocal coaches EVERYBODY would sound like they’re in a musical, opera or singing jazz. They’re completely oblivious to this themselves. They usually think they can sing rock blues and soul just as well as the greats but it always becomes a cheesy musical number.
    If you wanna sing at weddings or whatever, take these guys advice. If you want to create something unique, proceed with caution.

    Listen, I certainly know how popular Nirvana and Kurt was/still is, but (there’s always a but 😊), Freddie was in a league all of his own. Different kind of music, different voice. None of these grunge guys can match Freddie. They broke the mold after him. But still, grunge had its place and it changed and evolved Rock music forever.

    My husband and I have been booking local/regional bands for over 20 years now. I am constantly amazed by the fact that untrained players/performers have ZERO problems achieving allegedly 'impossible' feats simply because no one has ever told them that they couldn't do them.
    All of the most amazing performers just kind of shrug and say, "Yeah, I guess." when you point out how amazing one thing or another that they do is.
