    One of the things I love most about your videos (besides the fact that everything you do is gorgeous) is that the videos are long and we get to see the mistakes. The mistakes (a poor cut, too much liquid clay, clay not holding together, etc) are inevitable and it helps so much to be able to see how you handle it. You always seem to make it work in the end, and it helps so much for you to talk us through it. (Because we will have the same problems.)

    Kia ora from Aotearoa (New Zealand). Before I watched this I was actually watching another video of yours & saw this to side before I full screened & I was like ohhhh those look like Maori craft. Then I clicked here lol. Wow you are amazing, I truly love your work. We call them paua over here tho not abalone, but hey either way it's the same lol. We use paua shells alot in our Maori carvings & our crafts, also we use ponamu (what everyone else would call Jade or green stone) in our jewellery. Any hu I just really wanted to say thank you so much for making & sharing your beautiful artwork & I will be subscribing & looking forward to seeing more from you. I hope my message finds you & your family well 💌

    beautiful! I am a new zealander, married to a maori near 40 yrs and its great seeing an english womans take on maori designs. The wood grain effect is a great idea as this bit would generally be string but originally flax thread as would be the ties for round your neck. I love the modern approach on the 2 cutters with the swirly bit known down here as a koru but the turtle is not maori or from nz...more indiginous australian or the islands around rarotonga, fiji, tonga etc. Maori design of colour are black, red and white all 3 or 2 of these colours with red always in the mix though other colours are in recent times being slowly added, your abalone is our paua and used alot for eyes in bone and wood carvings. How do I contact you... if you would like and customs allow it I can send you some paua shell bits or whole shells plus some pupu bling lol, its the cap thingy that sits inside very small sea snails. I love the white resin. ty for all your tutes, im a big fan

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I said they were Māori inspired, and the turtle was just an example of what else you can do in that similar style. I really don’t know much about anything Māori, and only get inspiration from pictures I see. All of the ‘Māori’ jewelry designs I saw were white bone with abalone accents, and the thread for the necklace part. I decided to add the wood effect. I wasn’t trying to replicate an exact Māori design, just a representation of it. I also saw many turtle ‘Māori’ designs, so I’m not really to know what is authentic.

    This was the perfect, relaxing way to end my day. It’s Midsommar here in Sweden, and that means a fun day of family get-together, so now I’m wiped out 😴
    Not too tired to watch a Deb video though! Nope. That’s a treat, and I love treats.
    Am I rambling? Yes, yes I am. Sorry. Might not be too tired to watch, but maybe I should’ve waited to comment until tomorrow… but then I might forget, and that’s not fair to your TH-cam rankings. Not that my comment is important, but getting comments in general is important and I really want to support you.
    Someone please take the phone away from me so I stop embarrassing myself!

    Wow! That white resin really adds even more beauty. I don’t think I can use resin anymore. Had an awful allergic reaction to clear resin and my hands were a mess for weeks. (I’m a musician) sigh. If anyone has any insight on this, I would so appreciate any info you would share.

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m also allergic to resin. If I get it on me, I’m in trouble. I know I didn’t wear gloves in the video, but for the most part, I do. Still, even then I can get it on me. Other than covering yourself up, head to toe, there’s not much you can do. Gloves help, though. In one of my videos, you can see my messed up hand from getting resin on it….i just don’t remember which video it is.

    • @lindalopresti389

      @@clayboutique yes, I saw that you had your fingers covered with those rubber tips. I, literally, could not work for a couple of weeks, (although I did anyway) it wasn’t fun. I’d used resin before with no ill effects but this time, it might have reacted with something I use on my hands for arthritis. Dr. Gave me cortisone cream, the only thing that worked. My fingertips still feel weird, I think I heard you say that as well. Hope you’re really all well, you videos have taught me so much. I’m one of those brave beginners! Maybe this time, I moved too fast. Nice talking with you.

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s called contact dermatitis. I used resin for a few years before I got it. It can happen at any time, and once you have it, you will always be allergic to it. I had really severe, one time, but at that time I didn’t know what it was. My fingers were thick and crusty (gross), and my hands and arms were a red rash. The mess on my fingers was there for weeks, and it kept cracking open.
      Anyway, keep away from the resin, or use it minimally. And if you do, wear gloves and long sleeves. ❤️
