"I don't understand why people put seals in backwards." If the seals primary purpose is to seal the engine (and it's left side crankshaft bearings) from contamination by oil or debris from the primary, it is installed correctly. If the primary is open or otherwise run dry, then the seal would be installed incorrectly. I suspect that HD would rather have the engine oil contaminate the primary, than the primary oil (and any debris from the primary) contaminating the engine and its crankshaft bearings.
sounds great until you know that harley use to suck all that dirty oil into the motor by using the suction off of the engine breather. harley does not like to change things once they did it. don't over think it, harley sure didn't. tatro
@@TatroMachine I was under the impression that all of the big twins that did that were equipped with an oil filter in the system. I seem to remember a fibrous "toilet paper roll" that was inserted in the oil tank. That filter would capture any crap from the primary before it went through the motor. Anything passing through that seal would be "unfiltered" with uncaptured primary "debris".
@@marvindewyer528 I have the engine in a 2006 roadglide. No issues whatsoever. Great power. Definitely needs a large oil cooler! Over 1 year of running and no valvetrain issues either
I've got the same motor here in england and I can say that the chrome is shit on these engines, mine has flaked off and it looked awful am now try to find someone who will relate it but it's gonna cost a fortune. Maybe go the powder coat route
get a clue, all the aftermarket parts have the same bad chrome. even the oem harley chrome goes bad too, it just takes longer. techline coatings makes a clear coat that will protect any surface from the ail and moisture. that is what causes the surface damage you don't like seeing. just go look at the bike at the end of the 1983 fxrt video playlist to see how good it works. tatro
Had a 127, overall reliable, ran cool, lots of torque… but will break other shit in the drivetrain and was not the best street manners at low rpm around town. If I did it again, I’d happily go with their 113 or 120
Actually I did not know where Ultima’s came from. Never knew they were made 40 miles from me. I always learn something from your videos.
Where so they come from? I thought they were made in Taiwan, or something like that. I didn't hear Keenan say anything about where they are made.
made in china, finished machined and assembled in the usa. just like chevy does.

Tatro, we need some videos of these Ultima twinkies running… and maybe even feedback after they come back with some miles… dynos even 🤙🏽
Beautiful Exhaust Port Work.
Whats the biggest problem id have puttin one in my 05 ultra? Thanks love your stuff!!
your back. you will need a good clutch.

I think that round hole is for the crank position sensor. 😊✌️

Straight up rocket science

Notice the fins are bigger. Should help some keeping it cooler
120hp in an FXR style frame should rip pretty good.
Did you ever deploy?
Just curious.

3rd new motor in the last couple of months, what are you building?
real harley motors. not this late model crap.
tatro
Would these twin cam Ultima heads bolt onto s-s cycle 4 inch big bore jugs.
not sure, i think the dowel pins are different. the bolt patterns are the same because i have used the cases ae replacements.
tatro
Are the bottom ends timken style bearings ?
yes, just like they should be. these are way better than anything harley built.

Very nice!

Hey buddy I’m thinking about a evo project next. Would the ultima 127 be ok on long trips ???
not for me. go with the 120ci motor. i did a video on one of those too.

Awesome motor. Pipedreams
I bet it'd push a Karmann Ghia.
A CV44 carbinator works best on this motor 48 pilot 220 main. Don't do anything else with it
Why do you prefer Mikuni over S&S?
maybe they work better on the street.

What is the price of this motor about?
the price and availability changes all the time. email me your wants and questions.
