I had my dealer drain/fill my GSF at 35k miles. The down shifts are night/day smoother. Fluid was reported to be super clean but I feel the difference 👍
That's because the level was too low when you took it in. These gearboxes are extremely sensitive to fluid level. When it is right, putting fresh fluid in it makes no difference in operation at all. I didn't change the fluid in my IS F until 150k miles, and even then Blackstone said the fluid was still good. Changing the fluid didn't make even a small difference in operation because I'd set the fluid level at 120k miles and eliminated the flare it liked to exhibit when it was cold, and the groan from the oil pump when it was cold. The wife's GS F just started making a light groaning noise which tells me the clutches have worn a little and the fluid level is a little bit lower than it should be. Topping it off tomorrow, but won't be doing all this from the video for a while to come.
My 2013 IS-F with 42K miles AA80E is a little more auditable now after 11 years, even though the car performs flawlessly. I have an appointment to get this done too, as I feel it's needed. I was curious if anyone tried Amsoil instead of the Toyota WS fluid. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video! I dropped the pan and changed my filter on my 007 IS350 with a 153,766 today Monday June 14 21. It took four quarts of WS fluid and a OEM filter. Magnets and pan where cleaned thoroughly before replacing. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video bro... My 2 cents for everyone doing the air compressor trick.. make sure you have an inline water separator/trap to avoid any contaminations!
Why didn’t you hang the return line from transmission and start the engine and have the car flush out about 3-4 quarts then fill up and repeat until all the old fluid is flushed out? I have a 2014 LS460 F Sport with the same transmission and setup. About to do this first time lol good work though.
Wow! Nice job. Thanks for taking us through all the tranny fluid replacement. Funny when the fluid shot out unexpectedly. I have a 2007 LS 460 with 157,000 miles. Bought it used and i can’t find any documentation ( car fax and Lexus service history) of the tranny fluid ever being changed. So I am very wary about trying to change out the tranny fluid at this late stage. But thanks for the entertaining video.
You can remove the straw on the check nut. That will drain down the pan to almost nothing before you drop the pan. It’s the same size hex as the check nut.
I also own a Lexus RCF,just turns 50,000 miles and I've been doing alot of research regarding to ATF and comes to the conclusion that it is best to do drain and fills every 30,000 miles. Drop the pan replace the filter and gasket, clean the pan and the magnets throughtly.
There's no evidence to support a 30k mile change. I have direct evidence from Blackstone showing WS fluid with 120k miles is still in good shape even after a half dozen track weekends. It's posted on Club Lexus.
@@lobuxracer on the same transmission filter ? I just picked up a ‘15 RCF with 62k , not sure if I should just do drain/fill or transmission filter w/ gasket
@@lobuxracerWell it's a good idea to do it starting at lower mileage because changing the entirity of the transition fluid requires alot of drain and files so you will never have really changed all the fluid ever in the car. Good to hear that at that milage it was still considered good.
My RCF is at 80k miles & it wont go into reverse at all, i just had the old fluid flushed & replaced & still no reverse 🤧 i think it might be the transmission filter. Yall think this would be the issue?
Bro I wish we where neighbors we could basically do all our own Lexus work between the both of us lol . No need for a dealership other than warranty stuff haha .
What are your thoughts on using the Amsoil over the Toyota WS? I saw one of your previous videos where you used the Lexus/ Toyota WS to service the transmission. Any reason for the change ? Thanks.
@@chiragchovhan9425 There's a procedure in the service manual to set up temperature sensing for this task. It's stickied on the Club Lexus IS F forum. Using an external temperature is dicey at best. The level setting procedure depends on using the factory temperature sensor installed in the transmission.
@@BulletsGarage Flare is when the engine speeds up, but the car doesn't move. It's like a false neutral. It's common with these gearboxes when the fluid level is even just a little low.
lol I have a caddy Cts v-sport and had to find this video for the information i needed with it having the same transmission, the stealer wants $1000 to do this job SMDH 😕Thankyou !!!!
I asked my local dealer what the cost would be to change the fluid and they told me they wouldn't even do it because how the fluid is supposed to be lifetime. lol Looks like I might have to just do it myself.
@@BulletsGarage I got 5.5 out of my IS F without "draining" the coolers. So, an extra half quart for all that effort. And as I said above, there's still 6 quarts in the torque converter.
If you jack up the front of the car and drain you'll get more than 6 quarts out of the system. That's a 50+% change on a system with 11.8 quarts total volume. Besides, if you jack the front up, the cooler will drain by itself, same as the air/oil cooler for the engine does.
Great video, very informative as always. Much respect that you don't edit out the mishaps we make as humans. Thanks again!
Glad u enjoy those lol.
If you ever sell your GSF, the next owner will be lucky to have a maintained car like yours!
Appreciate that.
Seeing you bring the pan down was the greatest thing ever, not a drop spilt.
Lmao right. Not a drop but then it All slipped on my table lmao.

My fluid the first time I did a drain and fill was dark brown!!! And that was at 20k

Really I didn’t notice thank you.
There isn't one to remove. The AA80E doesn't have the same features the 6 speed gearboxes do. The check tube is welded into the oil pan.

Excellent Video , Detailed and Informative. Thanks for your time.
Your welcome
Great video! This isnt the guy you lifted this Lexus on the sideskirt is it?
Is the crush washer in overflow same as the drain plug washer?
wait where did you get the funnel/hose thing?! need to get that to fill my transmission...fuck pumping the fluid in
Love the videos. Learned a lot from the good and the bad haha
Nice man
Sweet video. I’m doing mines on my next oil change.
What about the torque convertor
What about it? You can't take out the converter u need to drop the transmission
Exactly. No matter how hard you try, there's still 6+ quarts in the converter out of 11.8 quarts in the system.
Nice video, just make sure the air you are blowing in is dry. Don't want to introduce moisture or water into the fluid system
True.!!
What temperature do u check the transmission
Nice job 👏 I can't believe the dealer wanted to charge me 800.00 😡
800!!! Wow
Hey doesn't this step same as flushing the ATF instead of changing? Thanks
Flush is different gets more out. Needs special dealer tools
Hey man I went to a local mechanic with Amsoil ATF and he refused to do a drain and refill for me lol
Local transmission shop**
Why??
That's prob. Because he was a Amsoil Dealer & Realized He could not charge you his 60% comm.on the Fluid,w/ You having your Own. Lol
It’s similar going to a restaurant with your own food. Part of how an auto repair shop makes money is by providing/selling the parts or fluids.
Is the 2008 Gs350 the same procedure?
Very similar
What are your thoughts on using the Amsoil over the Toyota WS? I saw one of your previous videos where you used the Lexus/ Toyota WS to service the transmission. Any reason for the change ? Thanks.
Had a good discount on the amsoil so went with it and they are one of the best.

Thinking of changing filter n fluid on 2015 GS f sport at 80,000 ..what kind of tranny fluid tho the amsoil fluid
On a F sport use oem fluid
