Just heard you playing this. You have made my day. What a wonderful interpretation of this Standard Jazz Tune. Play this sound on any radio station today and get rid of Heavy Metal and Rap and we will once again learn to Love Music the right kind of Music. thank you
Matt, this amazing tune, as always impeccable interpretation. Thanks for all the videos of 2012 and Happy New Year. Hugs from Brazil in particular this your fan.
Thanks, I record the sax on top of a good quilty backing track into Apple Logic software. I am videoing myself doing this on a digital camera. The resulting video is muted, and the audio file from logic is added to this as a soundtrack.
Hey I just wanted you to know, if it is the last thing I do in my life, it will be to play that song, mimicking your arrangement ! Just beautiful man. Beautiful. Peace.
Beautiful playing of a beautiful song. I have an Otto Link Tone Edge 7* and I can't get it to sound the way you do. But I'll keep trying after seeing/hearing the sound you're able to coax out of it. Thanks for putting this song up.
Hi Ian, good to hear from you, and thanks. Yes, I use logic express too, its great, have you found that adding a little compression works wonders to the sax? Not too much... but it makes it stand out a little more. This is a Hal Leonard play-along, part of a set that makes up the real-books. Amazon sell them for about £16 a set of three CDs. Four sets make up each real book (Vol 1+2, no music included). So I guess I spent £100+ on them, but well worth it for practicing.
Hi Matthew, yes I found that a touch of compression improves my sound. I'll have a look at the Hal Leonard material. I use mostly Band-in-a-Box Real Tracks to make my own backing tracks. I was using Aebersold before that. I'll maybe Ebay my Aebersold stuff and buy some Leonard. Happy New Year!

Hi Chris, this is a stock Otto Link Tone Edge 7* with a rico jazz select 3M filed reed.
Hi Mathew, Nice job! I use Logic Express to record and combine my sax stuff too. Are you using Aebersold backing tracks?

Matthew may i ask what mouthpiece your using.
How do u that wispy tone...Is it the reed.?
Its called subtoning. lots of technique videos up on youtube if you wanna try it
Matt, you get a very nice sound from that Link. What happened to the Jody Jazz you were using awhile back? What horn are you playing?
Hi Mathew, Stan Getz and Paul Desmond are coming through you. I love your voice like interpretation. Sonny Stitt destroyed this song.
I like Paul Desmond's rendition better.
