    The reason I watched those dramas (Peaches, Tobi, and Creepshow specifically) was because I watched all those creators way before the dramas started. I wanted to be informed about everything because I do believe holding people accountable is important, but not in the way cancel culture "holds people accountable". I want people to improve and be their best selves, because when they're at their best, so is their content. But there are also times where I can understand not wanting to continue watching someone, such as Creepshow. As much as I hope she gets better and that she's not being hurt by her husband, I also don't know if I can personally watch and trust her again.

    My favourite thing about youtube dramas is going back 6-12 months after the thing has resolved to laugh at how badly some people screwed up, especially if the drama kinda started with very little information and more was released over time.

      yeah for most drama youtubers they try to get into the heated drama so fast for view counts and dont have time to do research since they dont want the drama do die out before they make a video on it

    That part about issues being more accessible to discuss and the crushing knowledge that they’re too big and numerous to find a solution for hits hard, every other tiktok is about someone in need or a reminder about an issue we all want fixed. I’ve found myself getting compassion fatigue and skipping past those tiktoks because my brain is so tired of hearing about the problem over and over again, it’s not that people don’t care people are overwhelmed and don’t know what to do about it so we just slink back into our everyday lives. When it comes to art commentary I find I compare it to reality TV shows since they tend to heavily lean towards the fantastical and crazy while seeming more real then they really are. Creepshowart is this big bad dragon that all involved are raising their pitchforks up to and since we get the sense that they’re real people the immersion into the drama is amplified.
    Hope y’all are taking care of yourselves here’s a cookie for reading 🍪

    As someone who is part of one of the most toxic fandoms ever (Friday Night Funkin' Fandom) I absolutely despise drama; it tends to not only cost us good creators, but good mods as well. I can't get how people can be so stupid because of a little drama. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I don't particularly have anything to add as I personally don't watch any drama videos at all, but I just wanted to let you know how pleasantly surprised I was by all of the points you brought up, especially the part with your mom's take on the issue, it was really enlightening

    Nice points! How about this also resulting from the distraction from others’ artistic inferiority? Many artists put down others bc they’re intimidated as well

    • @DuchessCelestia
      @DuchessCelestia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      oh, yeah, that’s absolutely a big factor! i think that becomes really evident when someone who’s been cancelled suddenly gets tons of people saying “and their art wasn’t even good anyway”. like now that the person has lost public favour, it’s acceptable to tear their art down too to make the people saying it feel better about their own.
      of course, that isn’t always the result of jealousy - i know in some cases, it’s because people like the artist more than their art, and only hold back their criticism of that art because of their positive opinion on the artist. so when the artist gets cancelled, they feel justified insulting their art and sharing the opinions they had about it all along. but still, i do think that a lot of cases of people doing that results strongly from jealousy, and agree completely with your point!

    What’s funny about some people is how they say that the art/art commentary community is in shackles but all they’re looking at are just the “mainstream” people or people that kids are more drawn to. There are so many artists that I look up to that aren’t even mentioned or thrown into the drama with the intensity of what I’ve seen here.

    I usually watch art drama videos as a way to stay up to date with situations and people- though if a TH-camr I like makes a drama video I'm likely to click on it regardless of whether I personally care about the situation or not.

    for me personally, i just find it entertaining, even if it makes me angry at least it makes me feel something and gives me something to think about, and dark as it may be, the world would be boring and meaningless if we didn't have problems, we all have to struggle at one point in our lives so getting validation from that from the internet can help cope with the depressing nature of it. and some people just like seeing "bad" people meet their downfall, its like a gratifying moment of just desserts. until, of course you discover that the "bad" person wasn't actually all bad, but no one wants to think about that.
    and drama is like an easy access to youtube success, if you wanna entertain people in the art community without drama, you'll have to rely on some form of unique, appealing and attention grabbing skillset, you make paint? you draw beautiful pictures? you have a never seen before style that is just soooo mesmerizing? great! but if you don't have any of these exceptional skillset, you likely wont gain attention and will be drowned in the sea of people who can provide the same service as you, and since drama is so universally recognized and consumed.... welll the option is usually the easier way out. anyhow, this is my take on how things are, i obviously indulge in drama, i wont defend myself for it, and im not here to preach about how good a person i am but since i am capable of enjoying both commentary and drama, i might as well pick the more harmless option.

    I like watching these videos because I would like to be in the know as I work to start my own channel and business soon, despite the fact I've been creating for years. and in truth, I'm not sure where else tells this information. Keeping an eye on things that happen with platforms, which ones artists prefer... etc. is a great thing for me.

    To me I am the type of person who go " you do the poopoo, you deal with it", same goes with drama about someone I'm with or I got involved in some way or another. I just go " if you have problems deal with it with your own."
    is not being I'm drama free person but because I dont do well when drama happens and all my life is literally Kdrama at this point. But if someone started to get out the line I have no choice but to get the law involved if they wanted to be extra with me. Me and drama are enemies lol

    Drama is personal anger over something (maybe not even related!) being given some self righteous excuse to be allowed to manifest in real life instead of just in your thoughts and emotions.
    Sometimes it's justified, but it's more the fact it gives people an excuse that matters more than anything else.

    Honestly I would rather not get involved in it even if I listen to it. If anything we are just giving the person negative attention and negative attention is still attention. Some people might be like "hahaa seee they are spending time to research on me just to hate me imo"

    Omg ur so smart ily
    I said before how I gelt about the peaches drama but dang it still irritates me sometimes how blind people were being. Peaches made mistakes. I love her but she did make mistakes that effected people. Shannon may be an absolute manipulative jerk, but she could also very well be in danger with the way her dirtbag of a husband is treating her. In the end I can only find myself wishing the best for both of them. That they will be able to move on and find help. So far it seems peaches is finding a better way with rebranding as Rosie and focusing on things that make her happy, but dang, I am actually worried about Shannon. I haven't been paying much attention to drama lately. I found it just makes me feel sad and angry, and I don't need that because it's emotionally draining. I wish it were easier to find more channels like yours that are less drama focused and more focused on the positive good stuff. It breaks my heart to see so many people just.. Ignore the fact that creators are human. That they feel emotions and make mistakes like everyone else. They act as though a creator is supposed to be flawless, but truly no one is flawless. I know I certainly am not.
    Even though the time I spent watching drama content was emotionally taxing, I don't regret it because it was an eye opening experienced, for learning more about myself, and how people on the internet act.
    I can only hope that little by little people can try to treat others with patience and understanding. It may be an impossible dream, considering the internet is the internet, but I believe it's better to be the one to do something you want done, than to sit there and wish someone would do it, so I'm going to try make sure I gather all the information I can before making any conclusions on anything, and to treat people with respect, kindness, and patience.
    You're amazing celestia, never ever stop being you 💕

      @DuchessCelestia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      no u ily2
      exactly - every single person involved in every drama has both made mistakes and been the victim of someone else's mistakes, because that's just the nature of any altercation. it's deeply upsetting to see that fact forgotten and disregarded in favour of furthering one-sided narratives with absolutely no regard for the damage that that does.
      that's an amazing outlook on all this, and i hope more people are open-minded and kind enough to see things the way you do

  • @HelplessFangirl

    If there's anything positive on the situation I can say, I do have hope peoples' interest in commentary will start to die down. Considering the dumpsterfire pipeline that was Tobi Drama -> HopelessPeaches Drama -> CreepshowArt drama, I do think people are either burnt out with the whole situation or even disillusioned. While I don't think interest in commentary will dwindle completely, I think tolerance for more petty situations on TH-cam will start to lower. I saw it happen a bit when people begged HarleyTBS to not make another video on Kai Weiss during the aftereffects of Hopeless Peaches. And this is all excluding the fact commentary itself has taken a loss in credibility with the previous mentions before and other situations like the John Swan situation.
    So all in all, hope for the best, expect the worst seems the best approach for this

    • @DuchessCelestia
      @DuchessCelestia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yeah, agreed completely! i also noticed that re: the kai weiss/harleytbs drama, and it did give me some hope that people were starting to either lose interest in the topic or see how harmful and unnecessary it was becoming (or both) - hopefully you're right, and it's something that will continue long-term!

    As someone who always looks at every aspect of a story, doesn't judge immediately and tries to find the solution that helps the both sides, no matter who I'm biased towards, i have to say that i still have that part of me that loves drama and loves judging people, but I'm very aware of it and i choose not to act on that because of what i hold to be morally good. I found a subreddit amithea, and it feeds my brain's need to judge what's right or wrong or to problem solve. I think if anyone reading this and relating to some part of what i said above, if they didn't hear of that subreddit, should definitely check it out. I like watching youtube videos where people read the stories and most popular answers, or give their own opinion. Harmless drama content in my opinion. I understand how it's not the same as TH-cam drama videos and that it's not its equal, but I think some people may enjoy it.

    I watch. ALOT of drama videos it's not even funny. I watch them because they are interesting and helps me understand wrongs and rights people make and to not do the same type of stuff they did. It helps me take notes of things that could potentially destroy reputations and hurt everyone else so I could avoid it. And yes I agree that some people can change even it they did the worse thing possible. But there is a fraction of people who are stuck in a loophole and just continue doing the bad things they shouldn't do. But there's one thing about me. If I subscribed to a channel I wouldn't just subscribe for the drama videos. I subscribed mainly to support them. I have a clusterfuck of TH-camr's I subscribed to. And even tho it's unessesary to subscribe to so many people and the like button- exist and just viewing it helps. I still would subscribe. A video is a video and I don't wanna watch a certain genre

    Judging from some of the things you say in your videos, I see you're a bit of a Thumin supporter.
    Not here to harp on you for that, no no. But what I am here for is... well, I think you might wanna watch this video: th-cam.com/video/hBIT0ZQG1rE/w-d-xo.html
    Goes into detail about some of the BS Thumin has done. And as a bit of a fan of Thumin myself *(her art at least)* we shouldn't ignore it.
    Again, not trying to attack you for supporting her or being a fan of her, neither am I trying to stir harassment towards Thumim herself, I just think more people should know about her toxic past, especially her fans and supporters.
    Feel free to respond if you have anything to say.

    fomo. I bet many fear that if they dont also "act", people will call them out for it, or if the person does turn out to be horrible they feel dumb for doubting.
