I have a 2008 Escalade EXT. I have had it almost since new it only had 30K miles when I got it. It now has 85K miles. In the last year I starting having a really bad clunking any time I turn or start from a dead stop or if the truck down shifts hard. I knew right away the CV axles were shot. In the process of replacing those I found the sway bar bushings gone so I did the CV axles and new sway bar mount assemblies. Took the truck for a ride and 90% of the sounds and clunks were gone. I still had a slight "thud" I could feel in the floor when taking off from a dead stop. I just did the test of putting the truck in gear, foot on brake and slight acceleration and sure enough the engine hops up on the driver side by about 3/4 of an inch. I'll be doing the driver side motor mount this weekend.

It's a lot easier to use a floor jack and a block of wood to lift and lower the motor

Absolutely not. Do it like this and bend the pan at all and ruin the oil pickup.

🤔 mine or his way? There are even more things that can happen the way he he is talking about ....... not to mention the reason I didn’t do it his way is because it could break the part , then what would be the point of even Changing it🤷🏻‍♂️ that’s why I didn’t say anything before I certainly thought video I made would work every time and not cause problems ....... but I don’t there are Millions of people smarter than me

Hello could you please tell me what's the part number or size of the bolts that goes into the block?

I noticed you have the new mount installed without the heatshield. All your bolts are in, and tight. I believe you failed to install the heat shield because it is much more difficult. But, it is necessary. I just replaced my third driver side motor mount because i did not reinstall the heatshield the first time. lasted less than 2 years. take the extra time and put the heat shield on, or you are either hurting yourself for the future, or ripping off the customer.

I can assure you that we put the heat shield back in. But I am also sure that we did not make a video of the installation. the next time I do one of these I will make a video that shows me putting it back in . Because it is not that for us .I’m not really sure how to take the phrase “ripping off customers” That is a pretty stern thing to say. Considering that I make free videos and share them with the public and it could possibly cost me money in the future by not getting their repairs. Because they watch my video and know how it is done . I make my videos to empower others and let people know that anyone can do anything they want to . You are entitled to your opinion and I’m sorry that you think ill of me. I truly do these videos to hopefully make the public a better place it is unbelievable to me that people . Take something good and make it bad and just spread negativity . Good day to you sir

By the way I made Jeff take it back apart and put it in that’s how I knew we did it

As for ripping off the customer, i wasnt sure if it was your car, or a customers car. that is why i said either. The video clearly shows the mount bolted on without the heatshield. there was no mention of taking it back off, and putting the heat shield on. That is why i made my comment. Now that you explained you left the heatshield off just for instructional purposes, and installed it after the video, all is good. As a former service manager (toyota), I have just seen too many mechanics take the easy way, and not install small but vital components. Especially when working on flat rate pay. Sorry if you felt insulted, but details are important.
