    Absolutely amazing.. my kids and I (single mom) also work with pallets. So far we have made a bench, kitchen table, coffee table, bookshelf and next project will be garden beds. The boys learnt a lot doing these projects ☺️ I have always wanted to do a deck.. it’s so beautiful and rewarding ! Thank you for sharing ! Also, the team effort you two share is phenomenal ! Peace and Lots of Love from Alberta Canada 💕

      Thank you so much Barb Ara for your kind words. We get a greater sense of accomplishment when we complete joint projects like this. Would love to see some pics of your pallet projects and good luck with your garden beds. We also have garden beds made from pallets. Canada is such a beautiful part of the world, we spent some time camping in B.C. and absolutely loved it! Thanks again for your positive feedback, we really appreciate it.

      What's the reason he doesn't want to use pallets for a deck? Thanks

    • @Hector-cn3rv
      @Hector-cn3rv 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@turo3066 I'll answer for him. Simply the wood used on pallets arent pressure treated which in time WILL ROT. Pressure treated wood have chemicals on them to keep from rotting on ground/weather contact. Please keep in mind that freight vendors purchase the cheapest cost efficient wood pallets that will hold thousands of dollars worth of product. Trust me I know this working for Home Depot. These guys did a great job just skipped on a couple of important factors that would have paid off. 1. The obvious in not using pressure treated wood and 2 not tampering the ground under the pavers and putting some kind of crushed gravel or limestone as well. In time the deck will start to get "spongy" while walking on it and unleveling itself due to wood pallets starting to rot along with soft ground. Nevertheless they did a good job.

    I thought about using pallets awhile ago. Cuts down on the base work. I decided to check out TH-cam to see if anyone was doing this. I'm going to do this using plastic palletts. I live where it gets cold and humid. Then Im going to use deck tiles on top. I can't recall what the black underlayment us. Is it the same stuff used for plant beds? Not sure if youre still in Australia, but that looks like a good place for those Huntsman spiders to live! You have some real scary critters down under!

    • @kinlockskorner6862
      @kinlockskorner6862  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @KAL829 sounds like a great idea! Any type of weed mat would be fine, we haven't had any evidence of the grass growing through. I actually live in S/W Missouri, but i don't have fond memories of the Huntsman, i used to freak out my sister when i would kill them with an open hand smack! Good luck with your project, sounds very cool ✌

    Love it. Thank you. Consudering decking some of my space that is on gravel.. The wood needs to be saturated with a preservative in my case. However, this would be ideal if you need for a season or occassion. For longer, strongly recommend digging out organics at each concrete spot and pouring and packing a pint of crushed stone into the earth. Consider covering the grass with a bag of diatomaceous earth to reduce wood eating insects. When things get rotted, bigger critters start to move in!

    Awesome job you guys💪. Just one question please how far apart are the pavers would you say? I can always count on amazing people to help those like myself make these awesome projects😁😁😁✌️✌️

    • @kinlockskorner6862
      @kinlockskorner6862  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for that Tara. The center of each paver is 48" apart, which allows both pallets to be on the one paver. This would apply to any size pallet you intend on using for your project. Plus it makes it easier to level out your pallets and ground surface by placing two pallets on the same paver. Hope this information is helpful. Good luck with your project and feel free to text back if you have any further queries. Thanks again!

    Great video! I am hoping to do this myself. I am a new homeowner and tool challenged, so forgive me, but how were you two reattaching the boards to the pallets? Was it a drill to start the hole for a screw and then screwing it in with the other drill? If so, what size screws? Also, How did you get all the pallets to stay together?

    • @kinlockskorner6862
      @kinlockskorner6862  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Chinea. We did drill a pilot hole for the screws, this prevents the boards from splitting when screwing into the boards. We used #10 x 2 1/2" screws. The sheer weight of the pallets once butted together keeps them in place and are secured once you screw the boards into the pallets. I hope this is helpful, if not, feel free to contact me. Will be more than happy to help out if needed. Thanks again and good luck with your project. ✌

    • @kinlockskorner6862
      @kinlockskorner6862  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All the pallets are connected by all the pallet boards that run diagonally across the pallets as shown in the video. We didn't feel the need to connect each pallet individually as the amount of screws connecting all the pallet boards to the pallets is more than enough. Believe me this deck is definitely secure.

    Love the deck! How did you make the pallet fence?

    • @kinlockskorner6862
      @kinlockskorner6862  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks Katherine. I dug out a trench and laid the pallets (66 in total) on their sides giving it that picket fence look. Each pallet was attached with a metal cleat (they are metal plate about 3"x 2" with spikes on the underside) The cleats are shown in the DIY pallet deck video. Each pallet also has a 2' long pallet board hammered into the ground where the pallets butt up to each other and screwed into the pallets for added support. This was done on both sides of the fence (inside and outside) I hope this information was helpful for you and thanks again for your feedback, we really appreciate it.

      That's correct Gloria, i purchased 400 pallet boards from a company for $50. The company sells them shrinkwrapped to a pallet which stands about 6' tall. So that's a lot of pallets i didn't have to break down. For $50, i thought it was worth it.

      Thanks Helen. We bought the Chep pallets for $3 each from our local grocery store. We also bought a pallet load of pallet slats (4' x 4' x 6') which equated to approximately 400 slats, from a Pallet Company we found on FB Marketplace. Those 400 slats cost us $50, which was quite reasonable when you consider how many pallets you would have to break down. Glad you enjoyed our project!

      @@derek5 i bought a pallet(shrinkwrapped) of pallet boards already dismantled from a local pallet co. But to give you a rough estimate, an average pallet is approximately 4' x 4'.
