I saw that on the DVD extras. I'm glad they removed it, it feels really out of place. It's mysterious, but not relevant like the actual intro we got. The other deleted scene, I wish they kept. It's the one where Peggy tries to leave the newsroom after getting her money and Dorian throws her into the newspaper machine like he was going to do with Stanely before turning him over to the police.
The music was always so foreboding contrasting the fun sense of humor that the movie actually had. It kind of made the mask appear as a more enigmatic artifact with possibly a dark origin. Maybe it's a nod or hint at the violent nature of the comics.
It actually did have a dark origin from what I can discern. According to a deleted scene, the Vikings brought the Mask to what would later become Edge City _just to get rid of it._ And considering Dr. Newman's analysis of the mask in the middle of the film (possibly connected to Loki, who was banished by Odin), they more than likely had a good reason.
It's great to hear a full, extended version of this song. If the Mask was truly possessed by the spirit of Loki, one can truly catch a glimpse of the majesty and essence of Valhalla itself! Superb.
This really brings me back to pre-school and Kindegarten honestly. My parents tell me that I used to watch this movie a ridiculous amount of times, so it always holds a special place in my heart.

Against the constant, recurring theme of cartoons, bright colors, whacky mayhem, and stupid, cheesy, one-liners, I love how THIS piece of music, right here, reminds the audience that the mask is not something to be trifled with, since it gives the user these incredible abilities. Great, epic music.

I love this soundtrack especially the origin of the mask, I know it barley had anything to do with the comic but I love how it just brings our the Tone of the movie. It's dark in some cases but overall is a comical movie, Jim Carey was a EXCELLENT CHOICE! I don't know who could play the role better then him tbh. The practical effects that they used instead of CGI for the mask where amazing, to this day it still looks amazing. I would love for them to make A REAL sequel to the mask instead of that piece of shit son of the mask.

Movies like Robocop, Predator, and Warriors, projects that weren't surefire successes yet got so much love put into the soundtracks. The nostalgic feelings this song induces while the new line cinema logo goes on screen is an uncanny pleasure that makes me feel so good and puts me back in the 90s when VHS tapes were the norm
0:27 is the moment I get chills. That is the theme that captures the mood of this movie so perfectly. Kind of cartoonlike but with a dark and threatening shadow over everything. I like to think that the story is mostly funny and goofy only because the mask was found by a guy like Stanley Ipkiss. Had it been found in the first place by Dorian or someone like him, we’d have a horror movie in our hands. 🥶

I love this movie from the bottom of my heart, but the atmosphere of darkness and mystery that this theme has makes me wish that there was a more fateful adaptation of the original comics.
The world hadn't chewed us up amd shat us out yet. When we heard this music we were filled with excitement for the unknown. The mystical possibilities that must be out there waiting to be discovered. And then your 38 and you realize there is no great mystery or magical story. Just the same thing everyday. Work eat sleep.

If it was real life Jim Carrey's character would have been sent back to jail for assaulting a police officer and taking a police officer hostage.
So moving. Even as a child I felt stirred by the themes in this. To me, this music really conveyed the magic and seriousness of it all.
