Barbie The Welder is an American metal sculptor, published author of six books, and an advocate for the skilled trades from Pompano Beach, Florida.
Growing up in a deeply creative home, Barbie’s Mom is a published cartoonist and her Dad a jack of all trades, Barbie was encouraged by both parents to work with her hands and mind to create. Inspired by the movie Cast Away, starring Tom hanks, Barbie attended an adult welding program at Elmira, New York Boces in November 2007 and was hired at Cameron Manufacturing And Design in Horseheads, New York in March 2008 where she learned the art of welding and fabrication from the brilliant craftsman she worked with. Barbie took her fabrication skills home and taught herself how to design and create art in her garage after work at night and on the weekends.
Barbie quit her job she loved to realize her dream and become a full-time artist September 1, 2014.
Because of the influence Bob Ross had on her growing up, Barbie began teaching how to weld art through her TH-cam channel in 2015 after not being able to find resources to learn.
Soon after she was invited by a publisher to write a book teaching how to weld art, and How To Weld Horseshoe Art; 30 Projects You Can Easily Weld At Home was born. Barbie went on to write and self publish five more books, How To Weld Scrap Metal Art; 30 Easy Welding Projects You Could Make At Home, How To Weld Silverware Animals Metal Art Welding Projects For Fun and Profit, The Inspiration Blueprint; How To Design and Create Your Inspired Life, Fuck You Fuel; How To Turn Shit Into Sugar, and The Artist Guide To Branding, Marketing and Selling Art Online.
Working with Bogi Latiner for a month in 2017 on Bogi’s Girl Gang Garage all woman’s frame up build of a 57 Chevy pick up later unveiled at Sema became a mentorship for Barbie that continues to help her grow herself and her business. Barbies other inspirations include Indian Larry and Billy Lane both who caught her attention through the TV series biker build off in early 2000. The craftsmanship and creativity of both men spoke to her soul.
Barbie started out riding on the gas tank of her dad‘s Honda motorcycle because she was too little to hold on sitting behind him, so when she was asked by Jesse James Dupree, lead singer of Jackyl, to design and create two sculptures for Harley Davidson she jumped at the chance driving the 24 hours to Sturgis by herself from NY and sculpting HOGs 35th anniversary sculpture live at Sturgis motorcycle rally at the Pappy Hoyle Campground and then she returned home to sculpt Harley Davidson’s 115th anniversary sculpture in her garage which was later presented to Harley Davidson on stage during the Jackyl concert at the 115 anniversary celebration in Milwaukee.
Barbie has welded live at Americade Motorcycle Rally, SEMA show in Vegas for Miller Welders, Harley Davidsons 115th Anniversary, and at shows and events up and down the east coast.
Barbie has designed and created sculptures for Miller Welders, the American Welding Society, Chicago Pneumatic, Carolina Shoe Company, two cities and clients in many countries.

Thank you so much!
Nice work. Jus saw your video with welding tips and tricks. Love what you I’m watching all your videos and gonna do some scrap art tonight. Thank you for the great ideas. Can’t wait to watch the rest of your videos.
Thank you so much! I love that you were inspired to create! What did you end up making?
@@BarbieTheWelder we are working on some of the key chain art. Me and the wife starting to do some side art for Christmas cash and so on. Also. Working on a siren sculpture
You are great Barbie!
Barb, you're a riot! Cute and funny are valuable commodities. You chasing that kid on the bike was hysterical! And, love ur shamrock!
Thank you!!!
When I grow up, i want to be a barbie welder..you Wock....rock...
LOL
hit them with the clear coat hahahahah too funny. great video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lots of puns today. Your humor make the videos more fun to watch.
"Hey Kid!" LMAO!!! Love it!!
You can also get a chain tool from a bicycle shop which will push the pins out anywhere on the chain.
I bought one when I started doing a lot of work with the chain. I really appreciate you putting this out there so others know they can do this easier!! Thank you!!
Thanks Barbie. I always wondered what it was called technically. Top knob. That was great. Lol
Great vid. Excellent material acquisition.
Great shirt I love watching your videos come up with some nice stuff
Today I repurposed some silverware and made a pair of cool headset stands. I also turned some scrap metal into a remote & phone holder for my elliptical machine.
I've got something planned that involves chain, lots of chain.
Hi Barbie good looking work and a great thing to make.
Once Again Barbie ..
Smart Savvy and Simple !!!!
Love your Craft !!!
"Down Under Mike"
You broke a chain breaker? Brutal!
Yeah Im tough on stuff!
Great tips Barbie! Right on time too. I just had someone ask about bike chain art.
Very Cool!! Awesome idea Barb....👍👍
Fun video!
to clean the chain get a bike specific degreaser.
Those r really cool
If you hang the chain above a fire the oil comes out and you can was them with dish soap to remove the greese. And there a magnet for making 90 and 45 degrees corners. That magnet can hold the chain on the table so it will move less easy. Great ideas though! I like it
What ever you do, don't put it in the dishwasher. Don't get me wrong, it does a great job cleaning it, but it's difficult to get it unwrapped from around your neck before you pass out.
These are fast sellers at local craft fairs, Barbie. I think you'll find your chain key fobs to be a great source of supplemental income in your Etsy store. Nice to see you've decided to join the "chain gang."
Your the best!!!!!!!
Love this video n vibes
Thank you kindly!!
I toss my chains in a good wood fire...it cooks out the grease and colors them...I wire brush and mig weld...I also bead blast which gives a nice silver finish...theres more than one way to get from here to there too!
True!!!
Nice to see a cute woman (blacksmith) sharing knowledge
How many volts did you use for micro-wire welding?
OMG. You're killing me. You crack me up! I'm totally blaming you for me getting arrested for chasing down a kid for his bike chain! Lol! ;-)))
😉 He’s mine and he’s used to my shenanigans
I love your corny humor 👌
Spartaeus Cassinera I thought it was potatoes humor👌👐🤳😂
I found an entire motorcycle chain on the freeway. I'm thinking about making some foot pegs and shifter, brake pegs for my Harley! Whatcha think?
That would be awesome!!
Might or might not be helpful but for those small sections of chain wd40 may be the ticket with that wire brush. Excellent grease cutter. Might give 1% more "duty" cycle outta that mig 😃.....good vid !!
Liked the vid. Heard about you on the Welding tips an tricks podcast. It is always nice to see another welders point of view and technique. Just a suggestion, use a copper or aluminum rod for an alignment tool. That way if you tac it in place it is easily removed. Thanks for sharing.
Great advice!!
Was thinking the same thing a piece of Romax scrap worked awesome on my newly made key chain art.
New chain🙈
Could you do the same with a timing chain from an engine?
Any chain I believe just different links!
I wonder if a motorcycle chain would be good to make coffee table legs.
It would in my humble opinion!🤘🏻💙👩🏭
Great video, great idea. I only have a stick welder. Will that work?
I have zero stick welding skills. If I was to recommend what I feel is the best welder for art I feel a gas MIG is the most versatile.
@5:50 Hit'em with a clear coat! Hahaha... Best-est corniest joke on TH-cam ;)
😉 You’re welcome!💙👩🏭
that face 😍😍
Wow. I was wondering what I could do with all my old motorbike chains. Are you using a gas mig or flux core ? Great vid btw, awesome thanks.
Gas MIG thanks!!
Saw where you mentioned using .030 wire but would like to know what feed rate and current settings you use on the chain.
It depends on this size of the chain. Also different welders have different settings.
Barbie Doll,
You stole the shoes from the neighbors horses now your moving on too taking kids bicycle chains. geesh whats next?? lol
SegoMan 😂😂😂
Have you checked for your car's brake rotors?
Stay tuned!
Why not use TIG instead of MIG and get rid of the wire-hitting-the-chain problem?
That works as well but my Harbor Freight TIG blew up...twice😔
BarbieTheWelder At least you’re not tied to a stick welder, like me. :-( Getting my mig machine next week!
Chain mike stand
Hey Barbie,
Is your welder Flux core?
Thanks
Gas MIG .030 ER70s wire
BarbieTheWelder
thanks , I've been making a little bit of everything in my garage but for some time now I've been thinking about making a coat hanger with bicycle chain but my welder is a Flux core. Not sure what's happening but the welds goes through the chain.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Too hot. I’ve found flux core hard to see the puddle but if it’s melting the gain try turning it down.
No ground clamp??
Now how could I weld without one? That’s a shocker😂😘
@@BarbieTheWelder 😁 I didn't see a clamp/ground
Sorry kid! ......she needed a chain, you understand rite? Its all part of research and development.
