      Love the positive videos Dusty. I am working on a 3D Shadow Box. Figured the 3D look will be cool, plus the benefit of working on different layers keeps the heat away for the different parts.

    Ran across a video of yours. Loved it. I have been welding for 20 years. Pipe, production. Heavy industrial. I am bored and love growing and learning. Thanks for the new inspiration and hope I can reach as I dive in to weld art.

    Old old saying I only recently understood after years of hearing it,
    "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear".
    I thought this was some mystical thing. It's all about attitude. If you're humble and curious, anyone and anywhere becomes an opportunity to learn.

    Another top shelf video Dusty! I'm really enjoying your channel, I've spent the last two weeks trying to get through your back catalogue. I think I'm about half way there. Great entertainment and leaning a thing or two as well. Keep up the good work mate!!

    My apple taste but dirty, thankful for it tho.😂 your videos are a blessing thank you very much. I am a maintenance technician for a sheet metal shop. When I have time I’m allowed to tig on aluminum enclosures. There’s welded to be ground flush. Your videos are a nice help. And what I realize is honesty hands down. Take a short cut and with tig it will tell on you quickly I’ve realized.

    I really want to get into welding art, I too am a lifelong artist. I have wanted to start my own company selling my creations for sometime now and had finally gotten the majority of my tools together when I was on a job and had been leaving all my tools on site, in a locked shed that had cameras on it, then one morning, I arrived on site, to find a few cops walking around and looking around, only to find out that all my tools were stolen 😢 6-8k worth the tools , my life was crushed and my dreams destroyed .After this happened I went into a serious depression for a bit and almost gave up on my dream , feeling I would not be able to get to where I was again , Ii can’t let them take my dreams tho , so I finally started building my tool collection again , although I’m dealing with health issues and unable to afford the quality of tools I once was due to being unable to work like I was but I’m so eager to start creating my own welding art. I’d really like to start mixing my wood working art with my metal work to create my own personal pieces, hopefully I can build the tools up again and get my pain under control enough to do the things that I once loved. Follow your dreams people , you never know when something will change your life as you know it

    Great videos man, love watching them. So I've been wondering, I'm not sure how often you may make a mistake on a full project but what do you do if you have to make a repair? Let say you're close to completion and you dont step as far as you want on a dab or somthing of that nature, what do you do? I would think by buffing it back down you take a chance of losing the coloring or even your tracing.

    Minimum thickness of material to produce best results? What size tungsten? What size filler rod? I believe these are bigger variables to consider when getting into welding portraits.

    Most important ingredient for art is creativity. You don't need to even be a decent welder. A cool idea and the love of what you're doing Trump everything else.
    Weld bead art, like watercolour painting takes a lot of skill.
    But that's a different question altogether.

    Hey man I got the 210EXT and I just can’t seem to get the colors I get at on my Lincoln aspect at work, I’m using the stock torch I got a new regulator I’m thinking it is a leak somewhere between the tank and torch.. is there any common problems with leaks on the everlasting 210ext? Please let me know thanks love your work!

    I have only recently gotten decent at tig welding. once I mastered flat plate passes, I picked up some puzzles from weld metals online. some of them didn’t turn out very well. but by setting some ground rules ( such as not repositioning the piece unless absolutely necessary) it really helps you get comfortable with your set up, stay loose (ABCs of welding) and thinking outside the box on ways to hold the torch, feed filler, etc and I feel like the same is probably true with art and sculpture, it gets you outside of the norm. I suppose you should be careful not to start any bad habits if you’re looking to get into structural welding in the future, but overall it can be a good skill builder.

    • @Brandon-bl8ko
      @Brandon-bl8ko 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i agree with ya. even if ur just practicing passes, practicing them in an orientation to make something visually keeps you more focused on what your doing, or perhaps changes perspective.

    Hey Dusty, i watch your videos very carefully and i still don't get it! I can make nice welds, no overheating, but I can never get stainless steel to remain flat. I watch you do it and there is no distortion at all, it's like MAGIC!
    How do you do it? 🤔
    And thanks for the videos, you are an inspiration 👍

    What aboot respirators? I always thought you wanted one welding aluminum and what about stainless? And what else is bad, zinc galvanized or just everything? What are acceptable respirators? Do you just use a fume extractor? So many questions, so little time. Thanks for the motivation

    • @JRP026
      @JRP026 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Respirators can be worn for all welding and should be worn for all grinding. Carbon steel isn’t that bad unless it’s oily. I don’t weld stainless or aluminum often so I don’t wear a respirator. If you weld those often, then it may be good practice to start wearing it. Anything galvanized/coated on the other hand, your body will let you know real quick if you breath that in. Again, you should wear a respirator when you grind at all times. Most don’t, and that’s a shame - nothing tough about it... search for 3M P100 respirator pads.

    • @KingBigBabyJesus
      @KingBigBabyJesus 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JRP026 @JP Thanks much appreciated. I always try to wear n95 grinding and cutting but seemed like just a dust mask for welding. I have just been welding a little bit of steel haven't thought much of it beside keep the head out of the smoke. Good ol' google says n95 acceptable for most welding but will definitely invest in a p100 setup, cheap peace of mind. Just see very few people on youtube here takin off a respirator after welding stainless or aluminum or anything about the ill effects doing so.

    I'm years away from doing anything creative in terms of TIG welding art (I say years .. probably decades but I'm old and don't have a lot of them left!) but I'm determined to get there.
    Something I'm considering is artistic plasma cutting .. I see the combination of this and TIG welding as a good pairing. There's a lot of stuff out there on CNC plasma cutting for art but not too much in the freehand space. Do you have many thoughts on this? (Apologies if this is something you've covered in the past, I'm new here).

    you could have easily said these things quickly or just posted a recipe in the description...but no- you sat there and talked about the same thing you talk about in every video and ran your sponsors....great job

    Please wear a PAPR helmet or use some kind of respirator when welding stainless steel. Hexavalent chromium is highly carcinogenic and you don't want to inhale that. Any PAPR system or 3M respirator will protect you from breathing in hexavalent chromium.

    I thought you would help me get started. I’m still waiting for an email. You mention quite regularly that you get hit up pretty hard about those wanting to learn. My question is why not actually teach them something...Showing is good, but without hands on there is just no way to practice the art itself. In fact people like me wouldn't have a clue how to even get started even if we watched someone doing this for a hours. We have to start welding-ourself. But I also see no replies. Perhaps you are busy doing your own thing. Which is fine. But are you here to just advertise your own art? Or are you here to help others get started?
