To be honest, ഈ പറഞ്ഞ psu hpcl, iocl, ongc അവിടെ ഒന്നും core മെക്കാനിക്കൽ ഒന്നും അല്ല ഭൂരിഭാഗം പേർക്കും കിട്ടുന്നത്. അവിടെ work ചെയ്യുന്നവരോട് ചോദിക്കാം വേണമെങ്കിൽ. അവിടെ ഒക്കെ repetetive jobs ആണ്. Engineer ആയിട്ട് വളരാൻ ഭേദം IT sector തന്നെ ആണ്. എന്നോട് ongc ഇൽ ഉള്ള ഒരു ചേട്ടൻ പറഞ്ഞു തന്നതാണ്. പിന്നെ ഇച്ചിരി എങ്കിലും core field ഇൽ work ചെയ്യാൻ പറ്റുന്നത് ISRO, DRDO, BARC ആണ്. Even barc ആയാലും nuclear engineering degree എടുക്കണം അവിടെ ചെന്നിട്ട്. അതും പക്കാ mech എന്നൊന്നും പറയാൻ പറ്റില്ല. ചുരുക്കി പറഞ്ഞാൽ core field ലെ work ചെയ്യൂ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നാൽ അവിടെ ഇരിക്കും. Iocl, ongc ഇൽ ഓകെ മാനേജ്മെന്റ് work ആയിരിക്കും കിട്ടുന്നത് കൂടുതൽ. എല്ലാരും ഒരു കാര്യം മനസിലാക്കണം engineering എന്നത് interdependent ആണ്, softwares usage അഥവാ programming is inevitable. Even Testing on Prototypes has been replaced by softwares. In my opinion people should start trusting IT sector and private sectors, because as an engineer growth is superb. പിന്നെ core ഇൽ തന്നെ കിട്ടാൻ വേറെ ഒരു വഴി isro ആണ്. അവിടെയും core ഇൽ തുടരണം എങ്കിൽ തുടർന്ന് mtech പഠിക്കണം, പിന്നെ phd ഉം എടുക്കണം. ഇതൊക്കെ എനിക്ക് പറഞ്ഞു തന്നത് isro and ongc ഇൽ work ചെയുന്ന 2 പേരാണ്.
പിന്നെ private ഇൽ തുടക്കം 25k കിട്ടുള്..അത് സത്യം ആണ്. പക്ഷെ ഒരു 2 വർഷം കഴിഞ്ഞു salary hike കിട്ടുന്നത് വരെ ഒള്ളു അതൊക്കെ. Govt സെക്ടർ ഇൽ തുടക്കം high pay കിട്ടും, പിന്നീട് അങ്ങോട്ട് പ്രൈവറ്റ് compare ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ salary growth കുറവാണ്.
പിന്നെ job security, as a good engineer, we must improve our skills. Learning is a continuous process. If our skills are good enough then there is no way a company can terminate an employee.

But what I meant is many of us have a bad mentality towards IT sector ( I also had that while my gate preparation after btech). It should change. What changed my mind is the words from the people working in isro , ongc organisations. Even in IT companies you can work in mechanical wing ..ie softwares like cad, 3d modelling, matlab etc etc..
