I'm not sure Wizards is a huge fan of The Professor. He's definitely not clean when it comes to criticizing them HARSHLY. Wouldn't have it any other way of course, but that might be playing in here haha
@@ImSquiggs I would respect WOTC more if they looked beyond the criticisms or... Actually took them to heart... And then still supported the Prof as their largest community content provider.
As a consumer of WOTC products, them not giving the Prof the light of day only tells me that he's right on the money and they're too wedged in Hasbro's money grabbing ass to think about improving any of the criticisms levied at them.
@@ryanmajka885 Yeah I sadly have to agree with you friend. The past two years have done nothing but forecast the death of Magic for me. Pushed power levels, Yugioh-style rarity boxes, and crossovers with The Walking Dead are enough to let me know that this game just isn't the same anymore and probably never will be.
I never thought I'd be afraid of WOTC's decisions and how they might affect my ability to enjoy Magic throughout my entire life because every decision they made before Hasbro seemed to be in the long-term interest of the game, but now it looks a lot more like "burn it to the ground in five years and run away with stacks of cash". That's the problem when a board of 70 year olds controls everything that happens to your product -- they don't care if it exists in 20 years cause they'll be flippin' dead. They just want a payday as fast as possible.
Really sad stuff, and Mark Rosewater's blog really reinforces that this is here to stay so I think it's just time to realize Magic will never be the same.
@@ImSquiggs it might never be the same, but it could potentially get better. there's always hope and there has to be at least one Uber rich Magic player out there that wants to rip WOTC from Hasbro's grubby little hands.

Fab is cheap to play, it really is. Dont fear greatness. Prof mentioned it for a reason. Wotc will do wotc stuff, and trust me, u are not wotc stuff.

@@Chimpey gameplay is excellent. The better you get, the more the strategy reveals itself. Like a rabbit hole, the complexity just keeps going the further you dive into it.

I have been playing it since the Arcane Rising set released and it is such a fun experience! Every hero’s play style is so flavorful you can feel the archetype embodied by the cards and it’s such a fun, fair, duel-esque experience! I am eagerly awaiting your Monarch preview!

The fact that WotC snubbed the prof out of pettiness is shameful. By far the most balanced and fair voice in the community, the prof should be the go to guy for WotC to promote their products since he’s such an important gateway creator. Very disappointing move from Wizards.
When hasn't wizards made a disappointing move in the last few years? They were downsizing GPs (no more coverage, not paying artists, etc), cutting costs on card quality, jacking up prices of reprint sets while "not paying attention to the secondary market," and decreasing dependence on the lgs
@@Higley1234 I don't recall wotc ever making great moves when it comes to being consumer friendly. Even 20 years ago they were considered the pinnacle of greed to the point that their mtgo draft system had double the fees compared to poker in online casinos. There are even employee interviews regarding mtgo's pricing along the "we were unsure of the pricing, but we had an idea and then we doubled the price just to see if we could get away with it" lines. Nevermind their "payment" of judges via promo cards which pushed the borders of legality.
Sure it has gotten worse in the last few years which products piling up on products, but really it was never good to begin with. Sometimes people forget this, or haven't been following for that long.
What happened? I don't pay attention too closely to this type of stuff in regards to mtg. Guessing they disavowed for some reason?

Yall, If ur tired of WotC these days and just the general state of magic, I cant recommend Flesh and Blood enough. Besides the market going to the moon like most other TCGs these days, the game is incredible. Can't recommend it enough to either jaded magic players or just folks looking for something fresh. Kudos to you Prof for giving it some screen time.

Go Professor! I can see you absolutely loving Flesh and Blood. From the amazing gameplay to great monetization. And the fact that Legend Story Studios genuinely cares about LGSs and the players. Of course greed can creep up on anyone when succes blinds one, but at least for now LSS is doing phenomenal job!

Flesh and blood is Magic 2.0 it beats magic in every way.

@@DreadedEnding FaBs philosophy is prioritizing offline play, players, LGSs and collectors.
When COVID hit, they allowed a Tabletop Simulator mod so people could play the game in the short term (best way to get into the game atm) and officially supported Webcam play via Discord. They even allowed stores to charge up to $20/head (for webcam play) and LSS (the publisher) randomly mails out promos to participants. Demand is so high one promo is worth $1k atm.
When they banned a card, it was because it violated design space philosophy, and they removed it from all future printings of that set to prevent feel bad moments when opening packs (ironically causing the card to jump in value).
After the first two sets they adjusted rarities, combining their rarities that were rarer than MTG rares into one rarity with an equivalent combined pull rate.
Since the cards are both resources and playable cards you very rarely have "dead" hands (usually it is because you build with a ton of powerful, expensive cards and didn't add less powerful but high resource producing cards).
The legendary/fabled (think mythic) cards are either collector chase cards or equipment, meaning you only need one if you play a certain class.
Each pack guarantees a foil too.
I only have a couple issues with the game:
1.Speculators/investors have severely undermined the secondhand market of high demand cards. This has caused some moderately rare cards such as Enlightened Strike and Command and Conquer to be significantly more expensive than others of the same rarity in the set. (combining rarities helped with this but doesn't apply to the first two sets).
2. LSS partnered with US distributors Southern Peach and Southern Hobby. Distributors notorious for mistreating actual LGSs and prioritizing big spenders such as CFB when it comes to stock distribution. This in turn allowed CFB to corner the market of supply and charge 250% MSRP for 1ed Monarch product with little competition. They only charged less when a competitor with access to a noticeable supply quantity, Star City Games, was taking pre-orders at $220.
3.LSS uses Cartimundo, the same production facility MTG uses - expect Pringles.
@@DreadedEnding It has a lower mechanical complexity while having VASTLY higher strategic depth. Pacing is great because starting turn 1 both players are at maximum potential, and hands are filled every turn. There are very few non-interactive turns. In MTG you are often playing with yourself, and the opponent is just kind of "there," but in FaB opponent interaction is very high, and mandatory. It's just simply a very well designed game.

Love that you are joining us with FaB prof! I love your videos but find I watch all videos not because I care about Magic, but simply because I enjoy you. WotC is a poorly run company, who has lost touch of reality in exchange for pure profit. I have no problem with profit, but when it goes before the people, the people leave which take the profit with them. Glad to see LSS saw the opening and kicked the door in!

As an old (1994) and former MTG player, FaB does right what is missing from MTG. Mana is no more (Goodbye MANA burn!), for one thing, you have to use your own cards to cast spells. There is also equipment like head, chest, leg, and arm pieces all of which can be very important. My first time playing FaB it got down to 1hp vis 1hp and I lost yet it was the most fun I had losing!
