"Augh... I need a big pizza." Has infected my vocabulary and I blame Mandy for it more than Brendan
Jaws in Norway got translated to "Shark Summer".
When Tremors came out it got the name "Worm Summer"
So the point of Tremors doing to sand what Jaws did to water rang true at the time here.
I think Mandy should release the Melvin cut, with absolutely no explanation, on his main channel
God Tremperor of Dune
6:14 legitimately thought Mandy was reading off the Poo’s adventure wiki when he brought up Chip and Dale
I found out about that wiki from the Makuta page, so fucking confused.
@@agent5333THEY GOT FUCKING TERIDAX IN THERE?
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who went directly to "is that from the poo wiki?"
Gathered friends,
@@freakyzoid3565 See Teridax was ALMOST onto something. Mata Nui was unironically a neglectful ruler. It's just that instead of deciding that the people should come together to rule themselves, he concluded that actually he should abandon morality entirely because might makes right and if he could overthrow Mata Nui, well then he deserved to rule.
HELL YEAH WORMS WORMS WORMS WORMS WORMS WORMS
Deadly Spawn, Squirm, Tremors, All WORM related
They're going to fucking get you from the soft, loamy soil.
So one thing I really love about this movie is the scene just after Melvin tries to fire off that gun, when they're safe Burt checks to verify it isn't loaded before he stows it away. Its such a small thing but there's a bunch of stuff like that with this movie where they did so much more than they needed to. Honestly my favorite movie, in my top 3 consistently.
That's a rad detail I didn't even notice hahaha
That bit about the iPhone being swallowed by the graboids? Yeah, the movies already did that
One of them swallows an expensive watch that does a little jingle, and it becomes like the aligator from Peter Pan where the tune signals the monsters presence
Was that El Blanco? It’s been years since I’ve seen these movies.
@@theoneandonlymichaelmccormick Yea. The one that didn't turn into chickens in 2 and later became a main fucking character in 3 and the fucking TV show
If y'all do a Postal watch you have to invite Civvie 11. Whether he accepts or not is on him.
This may not be the kind of cock n ball torture he's into. Too bad he doesn't review movies anymore. Not sure if he has ever done a podcast. Either wont work with 'the lore', or he's lazy and just won't make the time haha.
Can the next Pondering just be the Whale? Everything seems to boil down to The Whale
Burt’s actor is the only person who’s been involved with every film, after it switched to entirely new production teams he got injured multiple times on set, the man is better than we deserve.
He's just doing what he can with what he's got.
It’s insane that this might be one of my favorite horror franchises. I legitimately don’t know what that says about me.
It says you're a person of culture who enjoys good cinema damnit!
“You must SQUEEZE the big pizza, you must SQUEEZE” - From ‘The Sayings Of The Whale’ by Princess Irulan
I have not yet been enlightened to Big Pizza, but the mystery is intriguing and I will have supreme satisfaction as if it's some big reference that I have heard 1000 times and then finally see the original, in which I will smile, scream, and then point at the screen saying "That's where it's from!?"
I look forward to it
Excited for Tremors in the Hood
The way Brendan describes Once Upon A Time makes it sound a LOT like Kingdom Hearts.
If the Graboids actually had "foreskins", Tremors would have been the "cock vore in the desert" film. Which sounds like a big Brendanism.
As for Burt Gummer, in a way he's probably the Reggie of Tremors. Speaking of which, I do hope that the BOYYYS will tackle Phantasm some day.
Also, I reckon Dagon would be an interesting choice, since Mandy's probably gonna have a fair amount to say about H.P Lovecraft and the Call of Cthulhu squid-cake.
Sandy Cheeks Graboi-
Forever waiting for an episode on You’re Next so the opening can slightly change to say “and there’s a good chance it’s You’re Next”
That Tremors tangent really got in the way of this Once Upon a Time retrospective
47:14 This made me think of the game ILLBLEED and how this one guy wants you to find his long lost companion which turns out to be a Tremors style worm. The cutscene when you finish that mission is absolutely hysterical, if you've never seen it you guys definitely should. lmfao
You know some species of ants have alcohol in their blood.
I'm just imagining a rise in these giant ants and hillbillies hunting them to get a buzz by drinking the ants blood.
I'm pretty sure there's something similar in Helldivers lore. The bugs in that game basically produce oil, so humanity didn't wipe them out but instead kept them around to harvest from time to time.
That said, country folk domesticating giant "bloodwine ants" would be a hell of a concept.
@@GmodPlusWoW Huh, I feel like we keep a bunch of bugs around today or used to, to make glues and some other gunk.
Feel like I've read that somewhere...
I've also read that some ants create a type of anti-freeze in their blood to live in colder climates. Hence why you get ants with alcohol in their blood.
Also I know that Bee's share a statistic of alcoholism the same as humans. Though they drink pure ethanol.
@@ShadowFox178 If you've ever heard of the dye cochineal (otherwise known as carmine, E120, or Natural Red 4), that's made from bugs. Specifically, the cochineal "scale insect".
@@GmodPlusWoW Never heard of that. Doesn't surprise me though, there are lots of unpleasant things hidden behind a fancy title.
Just look at our governmental leaders.
I can't believe they actually described the plot of Tremors 3 with the "What if someone used sound to control the grabboids" and Melvin is the evil real estate developer who gets a comeuppance at the end without actually having seen Tremors 3
Also the only reason I've seen tremors 3 is because I had a day of work where literally nothing was happening and we put on the entire tremors series and watched all of them in the break room, back to back
This makes twice that Mighty Joe Young has been mentioned
I love that mandys lil guy is the water tower lol
Tremors is a baller ass movie, idk what Bacon thinking it'd ruin him
Im glad i listened to this on my lunch break. I couldn't contain my laughter during the Big Pizza bit. Work even got us a big pizza today.
Tremors has some X-Com vibes, actually fighting back against the monsters.
The first movie has this the least.
Aliens coming down for first contact....
In deep red gun happy southern usa.
Now that would be one helluva moshion pecture.
What? No...
Tremors is Jaws in dry land.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC Bit more to it than that. Especially Tremors 2.
@JoshSweetvale oh, I'm not saying that in a derogatory way, just as that being a way better way to describe the film than "X-Com vibes", which just don't make sense to me at all.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC Man who has only played X-com: "This is giving me some X-com vibes"
okay jokes aside I think he's referring to the rest of the franchise when Bert starts graboid hunting, which even gave me X-com vibes
Termors is such a creature comfort for me.
IT HAS VICTOR WONG, IT"S A MASTERPIECE
let’s go i fucking love tremors
The "remake" part of the discussion was like listening to a train wreck while having a fever dream
I looked up on youtube and there ALREADY IS a melvin cut uploaded like 8 years ago
If someone draws the Brendan God Emperor of Perfection picture, please draw in the style of the original poster with Brendan’s face underground with the trio of Skunk, Beetle and Perch with they phones out above ground.
The spookiest thing about Tremors is Kevin Bacon.
I remember watching Tremors 2 and 3 as a kid and I really liked them too. I loved how each movie had a new monster with new rules they had to figure out to survive.
And the nanny in Jurrasic World was asking for it. Literally, the actress was a huge fan of gorey horror movies and she asked for the worst death they could do. She was supposed to be more of an asshole to 'deserve' it but that got cut.
Then that actress is a hero. I respect the hell out of that.
Oh god It took me a while to realise they were referring to Zara when they said "the nanny" I think it was the first time I saw a character death in a movie as something sad because usually they either foreshadow it too much or don't flesh out the character enough to make it meaningful
You're right, what the hell gell is big pizza?
Look up "Last Train Outta Wormtown"
It is literally tremors the game.
I remember renting this movie so much as a kid, so much in fact my mom got a second VCR so we could just copy it to a blank and thus why we now have an entire video store of VHS tapes at home.
Ok so Mandy you are 100% correct about Once Upon a Time it started as a failed attempt to make a Fables (wolf among us world) show
And the reason Peter Pan is evil was because he was originally suppose to be the villain in Fables
#ReleaseTheMelvinCut
Dangit, beat me to it.
Its a fart-knock life boios
Tremors and Volcano gave me the worst nightmares as a kid
How many Fall Guy could a Graboid eat? And how many Fall Guy would it take for a Graboid to metamorphose into Shriekers? How many Fall Guy does a Shrieker need to eat in order to produce more shriekers?
I like to imagine Rock Solid Studios was a sister studio to House Of Tales and the Tremors survival horror game had mind numbing puzzles and a salt arc.
Talking of wolf among us, once upon a time is the "original" idea that the studio make after the cancelation of adapting fables(the comic origin for wolf among us) so they decided to not pay to create an adaptation of fables but still copy some of the ideas and a lot of the setting
I hope they get to see Dagon it's solid small budget Lovecraft inspired movie, which I'm pretty sure inspired parts of Resident Evil 4.
There does exist a tremors-like game, it's quite fun, "Last Train Outta Wormtown." You can play as the worm as well.
When I was a kid me and my friends hated Melvin so much it became shorthanded for nerd or dork, like "wow that kid Steve is such a Melvin he stole my pokemon cards then told the teacher I took his" lmao
Also the end of the Mist is the best movie ending ever and no one can convince me otherwise, literally every movie gives you a shred of hope or uncertainty but not that one lol. Plus I'd argue the end of requiem for a dream is waaaay worse
0:04:30 I'm pretty sure OUAT Mulan was actually in love with Sleeping Beauty herself rather than the prince.
Brendan you forgot the part about Once Upon A Time where Red (Riding Hood) and her grandma are werewolves.
This podcast could really use the clangers treatment. They do inserts a couple of times, but all of the ancillary refernces like the movie theater chairs would be a great add.
38:00 200% I'd trade Just Cause for a Tremors game. I'm not even a Tremors fanboy and I can agree that would've been a good trade-off for most of society. Just Cause 1 and 2 were lightning in a bottle in their own unique ways, but at the end of the day I can't say that Just Cause 2 was a world-changer. In fact, it was quite derivative, and I'm surprised more people didn't stir up drama back in the day because of this.
Mercenaries 2 came out in 2008 and was basically just a worse Just Cause 2, which came out in 2010. They were made by different studios and published by different publishers. I get the feeling that JC2 was so good because the devs were able to play Mercs 2 and learn from their mistakes, which is a bit parasitic and borderline getting into the realm of legality concerns, but I could be totally wrong. The timing and circumstances always seemed really suspect to me though.
But anyways, yeah, a Tremors game if done well would've been epic, especially if they added a Horde mode, that would've slapped on co-op back in the day if the game wasn't bad (edit: I have no idea if the game would've been good based on Avalanche Studios' Wiki page alone, but a man can dream).
You have to do the 2nd Tremors, it's arguably even better. And the 4th, and maybe the series....or Just the melvin cut
What if I told you Burt has a son who shows up in the last two movies?
Jamie Kennedy got weird.
Such a badass movie. The bunker scene is so good
The Once Upon a Time tangent awakened my memory of having watched that entire show. Show was nuts.
I almost peed in a trash can while listening to this
I actually loved all the tremors movie

It would probably be a terrible idea, but I hope you never stop bringing up big pizza
Speaking of Tremors video games. Theres a really neat Tremors inspired game called Last Train Out of Wormtown, super fun, highly recommend.
Holy fuck this gave me some much needed laughs, great stuff boys 💙🤍
49:00 Yep, hi. This was my first episode of your podcast 😂
this episode made me realize i have no idea what happens in the whale
I still need to watch these movies. Ive only seen the first one when I was a kid. I remember being scared of going outside and running across the yard for like a whole day
I didn't realize until just now the horrible things I would do to watch an hours long video of Brendaniel scripting out an explanation of the entirety of Once Upon a Time.
The kid in that is literally, like, his own great-uncle or some crazy shit due to time travel shenanigans.
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ahem, sorry, I just really like the first Tremors
Melvin cut on Patreon would get me signed up to the highest tier immediately
Love these movies. I my family just had a dinner and talked about them as someone new to the family is being forced to watch them. Sadly Melvin is a major part of the cannon but I still need to watch movie 6&7.
I need Mandy's Melvin Cut! Please make this available.
I want them to do a podcast just going through Once Upon a Time, the beginning of this episode was riveting.

the graboids just become worm versions of pizza the hut in the remake
I was worried you weren't gonna talk about the TV series.
So that's still literally just me who's watched it but hey.
Melvin returns in Tremors 3 and is a reoccurring character in the mid 2000s sci-fi series. Same actor too.
His character becomes a semi successful real estate agent trying to build houses in perfection valley. He goes from being a teenage degenerate asshole and becomes a rich businessman asshole.
I am not making this up.
He almost gets eaten by a graboid because his Beeper goes off.
HELL YEAH BOYYYYYYY
You didn't even mention Kevin Bacon's best role that being balto
