    1st time for me. I won’t have a problem after watching this video. Socket will be a trick. Some of my friends use a torch and I was going to against my better judgment single I have a lot of extra grease lol.Thanks for posting

      It will work but you need to cut down one side of it with an air hammer with a spot weld breaker on it. But, once you get it to the last bit of a hard ring switch to the torch and just nick the edge and then switch the bit out on you're air hammer with a long punch and just knock it off remember you already cut one side of it where the clutch brake rides on the input shaft. Just take you're time 4 psi acetylene and 20 psi oxygen.

    I've got one to do, unfortunately its not a two piece. I'm gonna try this method and see how it goes, anything has to be better than a torch up there. I use to always cut them out with an a/o torch. Thank you.

    What causes those ears that fit in the slots on the spline to wear out. I put one of those exact parts on my Freightliner and within about 5 days it had worn those to ears right off smooth. What am I doing wrong to make that happen?
    I appreciate anyone answering this question and it would be great to have you make a video on this subject.

    best bet is a 3/4" gun and just grind a slot in the 3/4" extension. snaps it in under 5seconds and comes right out

    • @TANKERMONKEY

    What's up Chris I'm looking at buying a 78 Peterbilt 3406b just kind of wondering if you got any pointers or things to look for as far as motor wise or anything else

    • @TANKERMONKEY
      @TANKERMONKEY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 3406B is or was one of the most reliable cats ever but you still want to check for blow by it’s normal to have a little bit but if it’s shooting out a trail of blow by smoke then it’s ready for rebuild... I would test charge air cooler for leaks and other than that if I runs smooth and sounds good you’re probably in good shape as for rest of truck man you write a book on things to check but air leaks/drive line ujoints/ differentials/hubs/king pins / trans fluid would be major stuff I went over my new Pete for a week finding little things here and there

    New subscriber here and thank you for the outstanding tip on removing this. Just bought my first semi (2007 W900 C15 Cat/13 Eaton) and the last time I drove it as I’m getting it ready for the road it was hard to put into gear. I was at a 🛑 and had to force it into gear to get it home. I was not happy. I haven’t looked and hope that it’s just the clutch brake. Once in it shifts fine. My question for you does the socket trick work for all CB or just your style? Thanks in advance!

    • @TANKERMONKEY
      @TANKERMONKEY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely any clutch brake with pin’s always try and break at the pins since this video we have broke a one piece that my buddy tried torching first not sure how much the torch helped but we did snap it

  • @brkbt93

    I have milwauke m18 impact with high imput batteries. Do you think it will break it ? and do you think it will damage the shaft that comes from the tranny ? I’m scared it is my first time

    • @TANKERMONKEY

      even a one piece should break

      Do you think it can cause any damage on those splines on the input shaft ?

    • @TANKERMONKEY

      negative if the clutch brake needs replacing then the two tabs that touch the splines are snapped off already@@brkbt93

      thank you so much. Today i replaced a one piece clutch. M18 Milwaukee broke that thing like nothing and use half inch impact grade extension and socket 3/4 size with 1:2 drive grade .Pittsburgh brand. I believe you saved me few hundreds of dollars. 👍👍👍

    • @TANKERMONKEY
      @TANKERMONKEY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes yes but the one time I did a one piece I used a 4’ 3/4 breaker bar… if not it’s time for the torch

    • @TANKERMONKEY

      One piece is a torch job this works for two piece with pins or hinged

    • @TANKERMONKEY
      @TANKERMONKEY  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never tried to break a one piece like this it may be possible with enough torque
