    Nice tutorials as always, Omri! And oh, a new Befaco module! After seeing one of Andrew Huang's video, I loved how chaotic the Befaco Burst could get and I hope the VCV version comes in the near future. Currently, I have to get creative with Count Modula's Burst Generator to make it chaotic, but being able to do it in a single module would be convenient.

      Hi! It's still not in the library, unfortunately but have a look here - github.com/hemmer/Befaco/releases
      You can find it under Assets. Just download the file and place it in the plugins folder of VCV. You can find it if you go to File\Open User Folder. Then restart VCV, and it should work :)

  • @poguri27
    @poguri27 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    FYI, unfortunately some of the instruo oscillators are aliasing and have dc offset atm. Can cause subtle issues and listening fatigue.

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Try running VCV at higher sample rates. It should sound much better

    • @poguri27
      @poguri27 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure it will fix the problem (though I'm not sure if it fixes DC offset), but it would significantly increase resource consumption and limit how much stuff I can have in a given case, and there are other modules that do not need oversampling to avoid these problems.

    Hey Omri, this might be a dumb question, but I have noticed that your mixer always has the Auxspander next to it with some cables running to and from the Plateau. What exactly is that doing? I have patched mine the same but it doesn't do anything, is there a setup you need to do first?

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are no dumb questions, only dumb answers :) The Auxspander allows you to add send effects to the mixer so effects, like reverb and delay, that you can then send different track into instead of adding a reverb or a delay to each of the voices separately. For adding a delay, for example, you have to use the Send outputs and send them to the reverb, and from the reverb back into the return inputs. Make sure you have the Wet of the delay all the way up and the dry all the way down so you don't get the dry signal again. And then, you can send individual track into it by using the respective knobs on the Auxspander. Let me know if it works for you :)

      @@OmriCohen-Music I have tried it, and I now realize upon doing some further research that my Auxspander is not joining together with the MixMaster. When I bring them close together they still stay as 2 seperate modules. Is there something I need to do to make them connect together?

    Why do you say that you think Delays and Reverbs are unsuitable Send effects? I may have missed something - do you mind clarifying why you don't like them as Sends, and what you do instead? (just as Inserts only?)

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, this is just what I prefer in my workflow and in the modular environment. I don't think everyone should do this. But, in general, I look at delays and reverbs as instruments and I think that each sound should have its own dedicated settings. Not all sounds need the same delay time and feedback, and not all need the same reverb settings. It also opens up many performative options. Changing delay time, bringing in more or less feedback, changing the filtering on the reverbs, changing the reverb size. There are so many things you can do to add variation and to use and perform with the delays and reverbs live. Of course, another aspect is the possibility to modulate things and use delays and reverbs for sound design. But again, this is just how I see things and I don't do this always. In VCV, I usually have Plateau as a send because it will take too much CPU to have one reverb per voice. But, if I want to use Plateau for sound design, I will add another one in the chain. So yes, in modular they're a part of the chain and in other software I use them as inserts.

      @NICUofficial 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OmriCohen-Music Thanks for taking the time to write this out. I totally get what you mean now. And I feel 100% the same about delay and reverb as their own voices. Pretty much no such thing as too much time/spatial effects XD
      The only thing I couldn't live without is some sort of "master" reverb send (I use my Eventide Space pedal) because for me it makes my brain imagine all the sounds more in the same space together, especially with the enormous variety of sounds that a modular can generate, this gives me a bit of "unification" to the sound space.
      Usually I have (almost) all my final sounds running mildly through the same reverb send for that reason, even though many of them have acquired delays and reverbs of their own along the way :)
      thanks again, wanted to make sure I understood what you meant!
