I just recently found you while preparing for DoIP. I love the quick flyby you do if each quest in that campaign. As many of us look to start Icewind Dale, it is unlikely that most of us will move through the ten towns that quickly. If it's anything like my current Tomb of Annihilation campaign, my group might make it out of the Ten Towns after a year. Anyway, I would love to see short 10-15 minute videos that hit the high points of each town and the main quests. I also like your idea of limping the wilderness and weather stuff into a short video. @@BobWorldBuilder It's one of the secrets a player can have. They apparently met him once and have a piece of his cloak. Could be fun playing with how true that is. That said, I am only halfway through chapter 2 (plus the appendices) so maybe he turns up somewhere else as well?!
The mysterious rider is, in fact, the corpse of its former master, a wizard called Meltharond. The dragon talks to him as if he was alive and it is believed by many that she's lost her mind due to that. There's a tiny bit about her on Storm King's Thunder, as she's a random encounter there as well

I was just talking with my play group about this campaign and bought it to run it. And man this series will help me so much as a new dm! You’re the best!
Ok, so now that I actually finished the video--I'd love to see a GM video for each of the towns like you did with the DOISP quests. Since you might end up running some of them as one shots for Patreons, I personally wouldn't mind if they're released out of order either (as in, five of the Ten Towns you go through with your group, the rest of the campaign, and then circling back to finish up the rest of the towns). Although I'm not planning on running this anytime soon (I'm only 60% the way through DOISP) so I'm biased there. It's always entertaining and interesting to hear how other GMs plan and run their games though and I'm looking forward to this new series and the time travel! What?! I love the Netherese Empire!
Yeah, currently I'm thinking one video for the two town-neutral starter quests, and maybe like 3 towns per video after that? I still have to read them more thoroughly to see which ones make sense together. I'm just afraid doing them individually will take so long (minimum 10 weeks if I only made videos about this haha)
I really appreciate you suggesting how to make the adventure more fit for smaller parties or single pcs - I always dm just for my partner, so it’s always hard trying to figure out how to balance things without creating and running a cast of NPCs. For this one we were thinking of their character being well not so great and playing up the paranoia aspect to make her adventures either sole adventures or most likely not all of their “party” would return either by the adventure or by them. I think this kinda play fits so well in Icewind’s themes that I think it is totally doable to run for a single person, which is so nice !
Hey Bob, I'm going to "um-actually" you here for just a minute. @11:25 the White Moose. Moose _can be_ incredibly dangerous. They're not normally aggressive but are very big (about the size of a horse, Clysdale even) and very strong. So really, it's kind of the uh... Polar Opposite of the Rabbit here, if you will, haha.
Haha you’re totally right! Something from the description just made me think “carnivorous moose” which may or may not be what they’re going for. Still have to read the quest :P
I'm pretty excited for this book I'll be using it for my first time DM'ing next Friday. Super excited, but also super nervous! Looking forward to your vids!
Good job! You're channel is really begging to grow and develop even further. I can't wait for your future content. DM guides like this are SUPER helpful, and there isn't really anybody else online doing this. St least, no where near the extent as you. I know it'll be a while before you're done with this campaign book, bit maybe you could do Storm King's Thunder or Dragon Heist next.
I'm gonna be starting this soon once my party finished Dragon Of Icespire Peak. Its gonna be fun transitioning them into Icewind Dale! Very excited your doing a DM guide for this 😀
Yeah, chapter 3/4 are kind of plug and play events. Overall, it doesn’t seem too complex, but maybe not too cohesive. Hopefully I can improve that with the guides!
@@laserstarr ouch BE PREPARED. Chapters 1,5,6,7 are tough because if A doesnt happen then B begins. Meaning the party can end the adventure in the Island of Solstice or they'll end in Nercropolis later.
Ive only gotten through Chapter 1, And i LOVE it. this is Open world done properly and right compared to Dragon of Icespire Peak Really looking forward to your future videos!
It's the beginning of a new era for sure! (Though there's still more DoIP coming) And it definitely is going to help with arctic campaign. I think it will be a great resource for many DMs!
Hi Bob, I just checked this video out and it was really nice! Your SEO within youtube must be pretty good so far because I got this video after racking up some Icewind Dale cookies on some amazon and google searches. I'll probably end up getting the book so I'll be glad to use your affiliate link. Pretty awesome to see you have that going despite not being as large as some DNDtubers who don't use them.
Thank you! Yeah, that was a lucky fluke on this video. It's my best performing video in the short amount of time since it's been published, so for some reason the YT algorithm really pushed this video big time! And I'm glad it's allowing so many new people to find the channel :) I appreciate your support!
Finaly another of your DM guide, yes! I'd want you to do them all! All of the adventures in 5e! I'd also like to see your rating on each of them. PS. Do the Divine Contention before, just to finish the saga you started with the essential kit!
forgot to answer your question in the video, sorry : I'd ratter have short videos for every segment/locations. It was perfect for me when I needed a refresher for my own campaign : I just took the video I needed, no searching involved and 100% that video was devoted to the section at hand, making it more deeply explained and adding more details from yourself to enchant the experience. Keep building : your videos are awesome, your voice is soothing and you and your wife look charming.
Purchased the book. Hope the affiliate link works as I am in Canada. Love the video. Good things. Great even tone, easy to understand review. Very nice and concise. Easy to follow. Good job bringing attention to the creators. It is awesome they are pulling from DM Guild for new content. Sounds like a good chance of getting your content official too. That Town breakdown is awesome! Looks super fun! The art alone is making me drool. Love the milestone versus experience. One shots sounds fun! I will resist the urge not to jump in RIGHT away, but I am a sucker for more campaigns. Covering up the gore for the kids. Good job man. I think maybe two towns per video? And maybe a supplement on monsters. Small nit picks. When displaying the shiny book cover, maybe prop it up on a display and then lay it flat for page flipping. Glare from the book was really noticeable (especially watching it on my tv). All in all. Great stuff again man! I am really looking forward to what you come up with!
Thanks, Jaime! I'm glad you liked the video and are excited about the book. I agree about the shiny cover critique. I didn't notice until it was too late :P I like the idea of two quests per video. That could be a good balance. And I hope you'll join some of the one shots! :)
Great intro to the new book. Really looking forward to your content for this campaign, found it really helpful for DoIP. I hope that you do similar content for this campaign, especially the DM Guide where you point out some balancing watch outs in the written adventure.
That's the plan!! DM guides will be very similar for the quests. Not planning to do gameplays right away though. Probably recaps and maybe I'll publish gameplay for the two starter quests later on.
Amazing video! I'm about to start this campaign after finishing Descent into Avernus and this information is perfect for me. I'm going to watch all the videos about Rime of the Frostmaiden
Can't wait for those videos connecting all the towns! It's great help even for homebrews in the setting, or a similar setting. I love the Necropolis overworld map! It gives me old comic book vibes, hella nostalgic.
Would love to see in-depth guide/tips on how you can really flesh out each city so don't hold back on content there! The more the better IMO. Ps. great video!
So I'm new to this tabletop rpg stuff but not new to role playing, and I gotta say homie I like your passion for this genre. I'm a console gamer but after finding Numenera I got hooked and yeah I just bought my first tabletop rpg to play with friends and my kids hopefully. Also just stumbled your channel and definitely made another sub bro and again you got a good passion and energy with this video and I like it.
I really appreciate that! If you're looking for a specific D&D adventure to play with your family/kids, many parents have commented on my videos saying Dragon of Icespire Peak from the D&D Essentials Kit has been a lot of fun for their children. Glad to have you aboard!
However you'd like to structure the videos, I don't mind. They'll be helpful either way. I don't have a ton of DM experience (I'm usually just a player) but my DnD gang bought me Icewind Dale for my birthday and I can't wait to get into it.
You have a really nice, calming voice, perfect for a slow evening over dnd. I was wondering if I should buy Icewind Dale since I have Strahd on the shelf, waiting impatiently to be played but... Well. Anyhow, thanks for the excellent vid! More power to your elbow! :)
@@BobWorldBuilder Tbh you convinced me to buy it with that review - i'll probably wait for black friday or cyber monday to see if I can get a better deal on bookdepository! Till then I'll keep watching your take on the book :) Poor Strahd will have to wait even longer~
My DM started this campaign and I was super stoked for it, my second-ever campaign and the first that wasn't homebrew. DM ended it after three sessions to start another homebrew thing instead; I was so disappointed.
I really hope you take your time and make lots of individual videos rather than trying to pump them out quicker because I really love the detail in your videos they really help my dming so I'd rather the quantity of information
I think I’ll only be combining the two starter quests because they’re very short and people are naturally going to compare and contrast them. The overwhelming opinion seems to be for individual town/quest videos even if it means they’ll come late 👍🏻
For Xardoroks fortress i think it will be more like when demogorgon rises in out of the abyss, where the dragon leaves while they are fighting Xardorok. When they are right about to be able to destroy it, it flies off
I like this a lot. The dragon leaving when they're close to finishing Xardorok-- then having to decide whether to take out the mastermind or or creation!
I have started to read the first chapter so far. I am currently reading the Ten Towns. From what I can see there are a few quests involved that don't have any maps. I expect theater-of-the-mind as a way to get the players involved. Perhaps bunching some of these together may be a good idea. I think one video for the two starter quests would be fine. Frostmaiden has a bunch of stuff to work with so this will be quite interesting how you do the guides. All I know is that you will rock this out like your last guides. Perhaps keeping in mind that this is darker and not as light as DoIP. Have fun with this! I know that my players are currently working on their characters now and seeing how to get them involved will be so much fun! Oh and the secrets? I love this concept so much! A video on these would be fantastic as well.
I'm glad you're invested, Ruben! After a video on the wilderness, I'll be making a guide about character creation for the module, and I plan to keep a heavy focus on the secrets-- many people seem to be interested in it! And as much as I will dabble with the horror, I'll probably end up keeping it light haha
That’s not Drizzt on Arveiaturace. It’s the skeleton of an old wizard that used to ride her. She has kept the saddle and occasionally will put the skeleton in the saddle to fly around.
I think two or three videos on 10 lbs makes sense. without getting any spoilers for players, there are some plot arcs that only seem tangentially related, maybe some suggestions for patching those together in a way to tell a more cohesive and narratively consistent story?
Nice! There will definitely be spoilers for players because the town videos will also be about the quests, and like you said, how to tie them together. Overall I’m thinking it will be a case-by-case choice where some towns will need their own video and some will make sense to be grouped
Can you please finish the final part of the dragon of icespire peak? I’d rather have the last guide on Divine contention before anything icewind dale tbh
Excellent overview Bob! I wasn't that excited for Icewind Dale initially, but this preview changed my mind. Also, what's up with these little gnome mind flayers? They're adorable.
Bob World Builder please do, I’m running my campaign and have been struggling to piece things together lmao. But I manage. I just got my copy of Icewind dale so I’m definitely gonna make use of this video.
I love the idea / setting of this book... Waterdeep too, but OMG, what a daunting amount of info. Just like CoS...I've picked up... glanced through it, and put it back on the shelf. I certainly appreciate this channel and series and have watched others' DM guides on this. Still not making it any more appetizing to attempt to devour 300+ pages. Yikes!
I appreciate this and I'll check your other videos out too! I picked this up as a resource (sounds like same as you) for a game after CoS and feel better about the choice after this overview.
I personally wanted to leave the Auril's domain as last. As it would make sense to end the campaign on good note. They could fight against Auril or talk. I think talking with Auril and passing all quests should result in an additional end-game-ish fight against an Auril's sworn enemy and with that Auril would praise them and give them rewards for killing his rivalling god/enemy.
Facing Auril is definitely a more natural end for the campaign than the exploration of an ancient city with no connection to the rest of the story haha
Hey man fantastic videos, def the most helpful with setting up campaigns. I was wondering if you will do more like this maybe on some of the older ones like “out of the abyss” or “ghost of saltmarsh”.
Thank you! The other campaigns currently on my radar are Lost Mine of Phandelver and Dragon Heist. Might do more general (overview-only) guides for other campaigns in the future!
@@BobWorldBuilder I watched the lost mine and icespire as well and they were also great so thank you for the fantastic videos, anyway I was just curious and look forward to more content.
Would love a video like this Icewind Dale series for Tomb of Annihilation :D I have both books and will most likely run them between my upcoming Masks of Nyarlathothep (would also like your thought on this Call of Cthulhu campaign :D ) campaign.
I guess if you are here it's not a problem, but SPOILERS WARNING! * * * * * * * I'm reading through the adventure and the only thing I don't like is the dragon just automagically flying out no matter what the characters do. Even if you chase the dragon back and beat it, the result is the same: ignore the Ten Towns, do this other thing. I like to think at that point the players would feel sort of involved in the survival of the Ten Towns and the character (Vellynne Harpell) that gets forcefully shoehorned in at that point wouldn't have much grasp on the players, it would feel extremely railroaded. I think you, as a DM, need to replace both Tali and Dannika (Both smalltime researchers characters that don't amount to much) with Vellynne Harpell from the beginning creating a connection with the players, then, I'd make the fortress open up and the dragon being in the final stages of assembly, with a timed forge battle as the Duergars rush to power up the dragon construct. I'm also going to mix RotFM with SKT, so I'm still figuring out how to do it, but I want the Duergars to be under the influx of the big bad of SKT, which I won't spoil here. IF and only IF the characters completely fail to follow the Duergar track and do anything about it, then at that point have the dragon fly out and show the characters the human cost of inaction. That's fine. But forcing the chapter to play it that way no matter what would feel SO HEAVY HANDED after so much time spent in the Dale.
I completely agree and I really like the idea about introducing V earlier in the campaign. Basically everything from chapters 3 and 4 (and some from 7) needs to be seeded earlier on. I’ll be looking for good points in the town quests to plug these latter elements!
Hey, thanks for this overview, it's been the most informative I've seen so far! I understand no one has actually run tmodule through, but from your first impression, how would you say RotFM fares in terms of difficulty to run and prepare? I'm not a highly experienced DM leading my first big campaign to the end, so I'm currently looking for a new pre-written adventure and this one looks like my group will like it, but I'm a bit concerned since I usually don't have much time to prepare for each individual session. Otherwise I'm pretty sold on pourchasing the book after your video though!
For a first campaign as DM, the Essentials Kit or Starter Set adventures will be much more simple. Not that this book is actually overly complicated, there’s just a lot of information. Those other adventures are
what i dont get is why WotC insists to always start their adventures at lvl 1. the frost maiden is a lesser god, and you finish the campaign at level 12. what? Start at level 4 and balance it all for 4-15.
Good point! I think the only one that doesn’t start at 1 is Dungeon if the Mad Mage, which picks up after Dragon Heist. Maybe as we run out of rules and environments to explore in 5e, they’ll write sequels to every campaign!
@@357Dejavu yes, but its still a continuation from a level 1 campaign. why not just start a campaign at a higher level to begin with. nearly everyone skips the level 1 parts of such adventures, or plays through it at level 2 or 3. level 1 is so oddly balanced, unless you are a barbarian, fighter or paladin its quite easy to die to a single roll.
Palo Kan “nearly everyone skips the level 1 parts of such adventures, or plays through it at level 2 or 3.” I’m not sure I agree with that. I have literally never done that or seen that in any adventure I have played or DMed. I believe I have even seen way more online live plays that start at level 1 than not. It makes me wonder why we feels so compelled to always start at level 1 in D&D? I do agree that I would love to see an adventure that starts at level 5-10 and goes well into tier 3!
The horror part of the book works much better at level 1 through 4 where your character is about the level of a "local hero" and can actually die from trivial stuff.
Awesome video! My players love some dark and dreary horror - curse of strahd was their all-time favourite. Now wondering what to do for our next campaign, either this or Out of the Abyss. How would those two compare you think? RotF feels more curse of strahd-y since its a small environment and the elements are working against you and Out of the Abyss is so vast. Tricky tricky.
Currently playing OotA and it’s a lot of fun! Since I’m a player there, I haven’t read through either book fully. But personally I prefer the environment and conflict of this story 😁
Nice Overview! Are you going to run it from level 1 or are you going to continue with characters from Icespire peak? My players always gravitated towards the north and didn't care about Leilon so it would be great continuation. Also does the book come with a DnDBeyond key or is it either or?
From level 1! The book seems like you can pretty much skip the sandbox parts and start at level ~6 though, so it’s good for picking up after DoIP! And it does not come with a free DDB download unfortunately
Yeah, after reading through those sections, it doesn't seem too bad among the town because the roads help you ignore a lot of the travel difficulties, but exploring the far off locations will be a struggle... unless you have a ranger!
just finished reading through the module and one thing i found odd; chapter 3 states to not advance characters past level 6... chapter 2 states quests in that chapter give exp up until level 7. I'm guessing the intention is to somehow seed chapter 3 & 4 somewhere in the middle of chapter 2? then use chapter 2 quests to close the gap and get people to level 7 to be able to move on to chapter 5+ it's kind of contradicting in the level ranges it gives in those chapters.
My understanding is that the ch 2 locations can come up anywhere in the campaign, but are balanced for levels 4-6 between whatever else the party is doing. I think the campaign flowchart needs to be more like a web, haha
If itll come up in the future/you’ll make a Reddit post but could you explain how the secrets work in this source book? I don’t understand like the way they set them up, because it seems like what is explained in the beginning is what the characters could have but not outright saying what the players actually get to see or are given ,,,, if that makes sense
Oh yes the cover is very hard and plastic-like and shiny but firm, the paper is so thin and flat and so straight. The letters on each page are so black and inside colorful boxes.
I personally want to see videos like your DOISP vids. You as DM with your wife/friends playing in a summarized form for the segments. Next you do your DM tips vid. Those saved my ass for DOISP, so it would do the same for me/us for this too! :)
I really appreciate that! The guides will be similar. The gameplays however will probably be more like recaps of each session. Editing down the sessions and creating all the images was not really sustainable for my schedule, so I'm going to try something different. In the future though, I would like to have gameplays done for at least the starter quests!
What do you think would happen if my players would start following the people who get sacrificed and if they try to help them, because I know my players and I'm guessing they will do something like that. Any ideas ?
I'll be posting on the community tab when I'm ready to start scheduling! Things got a little pushed back, but make sure your subscribed so you won't miss the announcements :)

@@BobWorldBuilder Drizzt is definitely still alive; the great thing about elven longevity. The dragon Arveiaturace is indeed a random encounter in Storm King's Thunder, but if you want a full-fledged writeup you should check out the old Dragon Magazine #231!
By far my favorite 5e module. Timeless and I would run this as many times as I want and never get tired of it.
10/10.
I'm just afraid doing them individually will take so long (minimum 10 weeks if I only made videos about this haha)
just found this series and have to say
a: you're a godsend, structuring such a free form book this well
b: you honestly just seem like the nicest guy
The Year of Chilled Marrow is -343 DR, when the Netherese were still in charge!
Yeah, a very different setting! Great opportunity for DMs Guild creators to fill in some adventures!
I'm pretty excited for this book I'll be using it for my first time DM'ing next Friday. Super excited, but also super nervous! Looking forward to your vids!
Wow! This will be an exciting campaign for your first run as DM! You're going to do great, and I hope I can help :)
Thank you for this clear introduction to Frostmaiden!
My pleasure! Thank you for the support :)
Thank you! I’m definitely planning to do one of those next! It was going to be DH ...but then this book came out haha, so we’ll play it by ear!
@@BobWorldBuilder Cool! Dragon Heist would be super helpful. I really want to begin a future campaign with it.
I'm gonna be starting this soon once my party finished Dragon Of Icespire Peak. Its gonna be fun transitioning them into Icewind Dale! Very excited your doing a DM guide for this 😀
Icespire Peak, Icewind Dale, it’s a match made in heaven!
I heard this is complex to run but amazing. You can cut Chapter 3 as a one shot
Yeah, chapter 3/4 are kind of plug and play events. Overall, it doesn’t seem too complex, but maybe not too cohesive. Hopefully I can improve that with the guides!
@@BobWorldBuilder I would not recommend new dms starting this off the bat. But veteran dms 100% will enjoy. 7/10
@@prtwriter4660 Uh oh, I'm new to DMing and this looked cool and well I got this as my first time DMing.
@@laserstarr ouch BE PREPARED. Chapters 1,5,6,7 are tough because if A doesnt happen then B begins. Meaning the party can end the adventure in the Island of Solstice or they'll end in Nercropolis later.
@@laserstarr yooo how did it go?! same boat here.. didn't buy yet but planning to. Only ran a quick 2 sesh dungeon for my friends so far.
Ive only gotten through Chapter 1, And i LOVE it. this is Open world done properly and right compared to Dragon of Icespire Peak
Really looking forward to your future videos!
Thank you! I still need to read through all the towns, but I can't wait to get started! :D
thanks for all your videos! Have not DM'd in 10+ years, and am preparing to run a 5th ed
Can't wait for this series to expand. I think that the adventure would be good inspiration for Frozen tundra settings
I caved and bought it last night, looks really fun. Going to run it starting next Tuesday.
Wow! You're going to be starting before me!
@legato Ya, spent money I shouldn't have 🤣🤣 couldnt resist.
@@BobWorldBuilder I'm a little jealous, my wife is having her session 0 for it tonight 🤣🤣
Haha now that's fast!!
@@BobWorldBuilder She actually had both her session 0s, but I'm going to start first as I've gone through everything on discord with my players.
Finaly another of your DM guide, yes! I'd want you to do them all! All of the adventures in 5e! I'd also like to see your rating on each of them.
PS. Do the Divine Contention before, just to finish the saga you started with the essential kit!
I appreciate the excitement! We'll still be doing some DOIP (and hopefully) LMOP alongside the Frostmaiden series
forgot to answer your question in the video, sorry : I'd ratter have short videos for every segment/locations.
Thank you very much! :)
As someone who is just starting up a campaign for this book, I'm very eager to see your following videos and have subbed :)
Thanks! Welcome aboard, and always feel free to comment with your own ideas for video topics about this campaign!
The art is awesome throughout! Glad to have you on board!
Would love to see in-depth guide/tips on how you can really flesh out each city so don't hold back on content there! The more the better IMO. Ps. great video!
Thank you! Yeah it seems like I’ll be doing each town :)
Nice review! Looking forward to your DM series about it.
Thank you! It’s going to be a lot of fun!
However you'd like to structure the videos, I don't mind. They'll be helpful either way. I don't have a ton of DM experience (I'm usually just a player) but my DnD gang bought me Icewind Dale for my birthday and I can't wait to get into it.
Awesome! You’ll do great! I hope you find the series helpful :)
I think a separate video for each town! Just found your channel today and so far love your work! Liked and subscribed!
I appreciate the input and your support! I think that’s the way I’m going to do the towns. The majority of people who commented seem to like the idea
You have a really nice, calming voice, perfect for a slow evening over dnd. I was wondering if I should buy Icewind Dale since I have Strahd on the shelf, waiting impatiently to be played but... Well.
Anyhow, thanks for the excellent vid! More power to your elbow! :)
Thank you! As someone who has like 4 other campaigns on the shelf waiting to be played (including Strahd), I still recommend picking it up :P
@@BobWorldBuilder Tbh you convinced me to buy it with that review - i'll probably wait for black friday or cyber monday to see if I can get a better deal on bookdepository! Till then I'll keep watching your take on the book :)
Poor Strahd will have to wait even longer~
@@BobWorldBuilder I agree no need to break up those two quests as they can be placed anywhere!
@@BobWorldBuilder I'm very excited for this adventure ordered it through the affiliate links and it's coming pretty soon can't wait
Awesome, thank you! :)
Bob World Builder that was my idea
Amazing video, thank you Bob.
My pleasure! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Just found your page and love the detail that you put in and would love a video for each village
Thank you! That seems to be the popular opinion :) I think I will make a poll sometime soon to find out!
Would LOVE to have seen some tie-in with the old Icewind Dale II video game from years back with the Severed Hand setting.
Yeah, I'm not familiar with the games myself but I know they are very popular, and it's surprising they didn't capitalize more on them
I have started to read the first chapter so far.
This is definitely on my list for solo play
That’s not Drizzt on Arveiaturace. It’s the skeleton of an old wizard that used to ride her. She has kept the saddle and occasionally will put the skeleton in the saddle to fly around.
Thanks for pointing that out!
@@BobWorldBuilder absolutely. I’ve been preping for this campaign and videos like yours have been really helpful for additional info and tips.
Omg. I loved this vid. Ty very much for doing this series.
Thanks! I hope you find it valuable :D
@@BobWorldBuilder Are you kidding me?? This series are the best. Due to your serie of DoIP I can make my players have fun. Ty very much Bob.

Me too!
This is just overlap haha, Divine Contention is coming the first week of October!
It's coming in early October!
Excellent overview Bob! I wasn't that excited for Icewind Dale initially, but this preview changed my mind. Also, what's up with these little gnome mind flayers? They're adorable.
Thanks Aviad! You're so right about the gnome mindflayers!! Idk where they come in yet, but I got a mini of one too and it's awesome lol
You should really do one for curse of strahd as well
Maybe some day haha, LMoP is also going to be in the works soon because many people have requested it
Bob World Builder please do, I’m running my campaign and have been struggling to piece things together lmao. But I manage. I just got my copy of Icewind dale so I’m definitely gonna make use of this video.
For Curse of Strahd, I highly recommend checking out the channel Lunch Break Heroes. Tons of good videos about that campaign!
I'm getting some vibes that 6e (whenever that's gonna come) will have its adventures set in the past.
Yeah, I think whatever 6e is, it will be something never before explored
I love the idea / setting of this book... Waterdeep too, but OMG, what a daunting amount of info. Just like CoS...I've picked up... glanced through it, and put it back on the shelf. I certainly appreciate this channel and series and have watched others' DM guides on this. Still not making it any more appetizing to attempt to devour 300+ pages. Yikes!
Awesome breakdown! I skimmed through this twice and still found info I somehow overlooked >_< Keep up the good work!
I’m glad you liked it! Hope your looking forward to the rest of the series :)
Arviaturice from what I recall, her mysterious rider is a wizard who died on the reigns but is magically in place so he doesn't fall off.
That's it!
I literally have a bard based on Miguel 😂
Now that’s a silky smooth voice
Thanks haha, Exactly the kind of comment I would expect with a username like "Swag Daddy" 😄
I appreciate this and I'll check your other videos out too! I picked this up as a resource (sounds like same as you) for a game after CoS and feel better about the choice after this overview.
Thank you Bob! Keep up the great content :D
You're very welcome! :)
Very good stuff, I'm not even going to run this but the content is good for inspiration
Glad you could still get something out of it! :)
I think the trick here is to have Auril escape the encounter in chapter 5 for her to fight them when they try to leave the city
I'd say id like to see mostly chapter 1 and 2 content. The other chapters are pretty straightforward.
Yeah I might actually do some towns, hit the latter chapter kinda early, then continue with towns
This is going to really come in handy as I prepare to run this for my players! Thanks for the great playlist!
Well... Ill run this being my first time DMing. If you can make all of the elements more cohesive I will be thankfull

I'm reading through the adventure and the only thing I don't like is the dragon just automagically flying out no matter what the characters do.
I'm so nervous to run this with my large party. I have 8 people, though one isn't joining for a few weeks and two will be on and off
It will be a challenge, but it will be great!
Make as much video as you can! Fresh dm here so i need every tip or info for this story!
I will try! Haha, thanks for your support :)
Those other adventures are
Im ALSO running a post apocalyptic attic world… what were the other details about that world? Inciting event, etc.
what i dont get is why WotC insists to always start their adventures at lvl 1. the frost maiden is a lesser god, and you finish the campaign at level 12.
Bob World Builder rise of timat started at 7 I think.
Palo Kan “nearly everyone skips the level 1 parts of such adventures, or plays through it at level 2 or 3.”
I’m not sure I agree with that.
Love this channel
Thank you! :)
Have you ever done something like this overview for ghosts of saltmarsh?
I haven’t! I’m currently a player in that campaign, so it would be a while until I do!
This was a great guide! Did you consider tying this to the prequel adventure, legacy of the crystal shard?
Canucklehead is what we Canadians call those of us who delve too deep into the Mackenzie Brothers.
Mackenzie Brothers? This has too many layers, haha
22:39 I wonder if anyone has ever gone back to a older edition campaign from 2nd or 3rd edition. Might work well for a time travel campaign
@@BobWorldBuilder by this story you mean RotF?
Yes!

How does Rime of the Frostmaiden compare to Legacy of the Crystal Shard? I was thinking about running LotCS first.
I haven’t played LotCS! Hopefully another viewer can let us know 👍🏻

@@BobWorldBuilder Adds variety while traveling. Different encounters, Different effects ( exhaustion, getting lost, etc)
Yeah, after reading through those sections, it doesn't seem too bad among the town because the roads help you ignore a lot of the travel difficulties, but exploring the far off locations will be a struggle... unless you have a ranger!
Good review
Looks like a good source book
I think it does a great job of balancing resource with adventure!
The character secret details are somewhere in chapter 7.
I ended up finding them! Thank you :)
@@BobWorldBuilder no problem man, keep on making great videos!
just finished reading through the module and one thing i found odd; chapter 3 states to not advance characters past level 6... chapter 2 states quests in that chapter give exp up until level 7.
@@BobWorldBuilder yeah it definitely doesn't seem linear lol
If itll come up in the future/you’ll make a Reddit post but could you explain how the secrets work in this source book? I don’t understand like the way they set them up, because it seems like what is explained in the beginning is what the characters could have but not outright saying what the players actually get to see or are given ,,,, if that makes sense
I know what you mean! I’ll be discussing them in a video at the end of the month about creating good characters for this campaign! :)

I personally want to see videos like your DOISP vids. You as DM with your wife/friends playing in a summarized form for the segments.
Next you do your DM tips vid.
Those saved my ass for DOISP, so it would do the same for me/us for this too! :)
Truly a great format.
I really appreciate that! The guides will be similar. The gameplays however will probably be more like recaps of each session. Editing down the sessions and creating all the images was not really sustainable for my schedule, so I'm going to try something different. In the future though, I would like to have gameplays done for at least the starter quests!
Bob World Builder A recap alone will be fine for us trying to get a feel and learn from it.
You’re doing Tempos’ work sir. :)
