Since DJ Vice(Giacomo) composed the themes for Team Star, I kinds figured he composed Cassiopeia's theme And since nobody knew who Cassiopeia was, he created a song that represented the Big Boss who the team looked up to.
It makes me so happy every time you finally put out your video covering the music of each generation. You know, sometimes it feels like no one else cares about the music in Pokemon as much as they care about the gameplay and the shiny new Pokemon designs. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one who feels such a raw emotional attachment to songs like Eterna Forest or Ever Grande City that tears well up in my eyes whenever I listen to them. Sometimes Pokemon music alone makes me feel like the world is worth living in... it fills me with such an overwhelming feeling of bittersweet wrapped up in a sudden and intense love for life, or maybe it's just nostalgia. Listening to the Lake theme I can't help but think of everything I've done and everyone I've met since I first heard that song as an 8 year old. Here I am now, 23 and thinking how lucky I am to have lived the life I've lived, how lucky I am to be alive. That's why I cry. There are a thousand TH-camrs playing nuzlockes and attempting insane challenges of all different sorts, and those things have their place. Even so, you are the only person I ever see give the music its time in the spotlight and I think that's a damn shame. When I watch your lists, I can sense that you feel the same way I do and it soothes my soul to hear your passion put into words. I really, really appreciate you for giving a little bit of representation to the part of Pokemon that I love most. Thank you Ron!
This is absolutely how I feel. The music in Pokemon goes unappreciated. It’s great to know there are some out there who share the same passion for these bangers as I do :)
the Area Zero theme has slowly become my absolute favorite Pokemon theme, it genuinely left me in awe when I was listening to it upon entering Area Zero the first time. those chord progressions are unreal. same goes for the AI Turo/Sada theme (and the other themes related to that final leg of the main story) and Terapagos. I also really love the Calamity Quartet theme, Kieran and Nemona's champion themes, Levincia, and all the Team Star themes, including Penny's.
I know you don’t do as many of these ranking videos as you used to, but I always look forward to your generation music rankings. You can somehow put into words what these songs make you feel and it’s so good! You did another amazing job!
I’ve been anticipating this video for so long! No joke, I was wondering when Ron would make a Top 20 Best Gen 9 Music video just last night! I’m so happy he extended it to Top 25 with many honorable mentions cause there’s just so many amazing tracks in Gen 9! My favorite tracks for this Gen have got to be the Area Zero and Area Zero underdepths, Battle AI, Battle Terapagos, South Province, West Province Riding, Kitakami, both of Kieran’s battle themes, Blueberry Academy, Coastal Biome, Battle Possessed Trainer, Battle Pecharunt, and so many more! That’s not even in order cause I can’t figure out which ones I like more! Scarlet and Violet and their DLC’s are just so amazing with top tier music and story. If the games weren’t held back by their technical and visual problems, they would be the best games in the franchise!
Yess Team Star grunt love!! I had this theme on loop for weeks after the game came out, its SO good for no reason wtf. The fact there's what, like, three climaxes?? The tempo changes, the instrument changes, ahhh its soo good. The fact that there's no battle with this theme that has more than like 2 pokemon should be a crime. That and Academy Ace Tournament - good taste in this list sir

It's great to see another Ranking for Pokemon Music after so long as it's not only something you're super passionate about but, it's just a grand time listening to all these themes again. You actually got me into playing games with the music on due to how passionate you are with it
Scarlet and violet has some great music. My personal favorite theme is the Academy ace tournament theme. It’s just a very lighthearted sounding song that makes you feel good. And it’s in my personal opinion an embodiment of what a Pokémon battle is. A fun, energetic battle with your friends. I also really love kirins theam
I'm so glad the Ace Tournament made it to the top 10, and TG7's commentary did it so much justice. I'd still put it at the #1 slot, myself, but 8th definitely makes me happy. It's so underrated.

As a related aside, as much as I have grumbled about Scarlet/Violet over the past year, I think your video forced me to finally realize/accept that my experiences in Paldea and Gen 9 as a whole might end up being my favourite of them all when all is said and done. Which is weird to type out. :P

Truly bless your heart Ron for being silent on the very best parts of each and every theme. This is why you are the goat of pokemon sound tracks countdowns
As someone who prefers Kieran's second battle theme to the Champion version, hearing it described as "abysmal" kinda hurt. I get why the latter is the more popular one though, I guess it's my preference for faster-paced music speaking here. I also like how his post-epilogue rematches play the second theme: it tells you that he got over his edgy phase and back to enjoying battles, but isn't the pushover you met in Kitakami anymore and is actually playing seriously now.
Idk, I think Xenoblade is quite up there. Maybe even better. But I hear you; Pokemon does have a lot of good ones. Though, the only ones I really can recognize by name are gen 1... especially Lavender town, the battle theme, and the route 1 theme lol Oh I guess also Driftveil city as well.

Woah Woah Woah!!! Kieran's first two themes are abysmal?? I think that the first one is so fun and catchy, the second feels so weak after listening to his final champion theme but it was still good at the time.
Wow, once again, what a beautiful, well made video. Your Top Sun & Moon music video is what made me first start listening to and appreciate video game music in the first place. Watching this video, you remind me why I love your videos in the first place. You have such a positive and appreciative attitude I admire, and I love hearing all the instrumental choices I’d never understood before. Thank you for helping me to appreciate something I already love even more- it brought tears to my eyes.

Dude, the music videos made me subscribe to your channel, and they will forever be my favorite experiences on your channel. I waited so long for this, and I'm so glad is finally here. Thank you Ron.
Another masterpiece of a video! I have to say I sincerely adore your music tier lists, it’s one of my greatest pleasures to just sit and vibe to some of my favorite songs while getting an in-depth, nuanced, and passionate analysis of the track. I love that someone appreciates the instrumental complexity and beauty of Pokémon themes just as much as I do, and I love it when you point out ideas and motifs I hadn’t even considered that are embedded deep within the story and themes. I’m glad that you waited for the dlcs to get a full scope of the SV story and music, and it culminated in one of my favorite videos so it’s definitely worth the wait. The tier list encapsulated my favorite parts of Paldea, and it was truly a joy to go back through with a fellow music superfan. Keep up the amazing work!!! :)
I'm with you. Battle! Sada and Turo is such an emotional theme for me. ALSO EAST PROVINCE FINALLY GOT SOME RECOGNITION! I'm a music teacher so I always enjoy unique time signatures and the East Province music mostly is alternating between 5/4 and 6/4. Such a groove!
Great vid man! Carmine, Champion Kieran, Arven, Treasures of Ruin, and the Team Star Admin Themes were some of my personal favs. I also think the theme that plays when they ar revived is very underrated. It sounds so playful yet mischievious, which fits the lousy three alot. You should do a best character designs of gen 9 video, since the last time you did it was the character from gen 1-8
These videos are always some of my favourites. Love hearing the passion and joy in Ron's voice as he breaks down the tracks he's spent the last year listening to
Insane video, so glad u make these. Seems no other content creator cares for the music but I believe u left out the most iconic song of all of Gen 9. It's titled "Exploring Paldea on foot" and I believe it will be the song we all remember most besides Area Zero. There's something so soothing and legendary about just chilling anywhere in Paldea and hearing this banger.
@@puparomi I used to do it because I played pokemon on the go, in the car, in school etc. And because the red HP sound was annoying (in FireRed it went on forever as log as your pokemon life was in red). Now on the switch I play with sounds on (have only played Sword so far)
Thank you for making this video: I sincerely loved the Paldean games for their music. I felt that the sound in these games was brilliant and done so well. I love how every theme runs into and blends with the next one as you travel around organically, and I especially love the little touch that the sounds get muted when you splash into the water, as if you are listening under water.
It was a blast helping make the list on stream with you. Personally, I would've put the Team Star Students theme with the Team Star Boss theme, because it's just a lofi rendition of it.
Oh yes I've been waiting for this video!! The only obvious songs I think are missing is tte Kitakami overworld song and the folklore truth song that plays during Ogerpon's history!
I'm glad that there's someone here on TH-cam that really appreciates Pokemon music, just like much of us do. I look forward to all your top music videos! One area theme that I think is really slept on is Casseroya Lake. I think it ranks highly as one of the most peaceful, serene tracks in Pokemon, and it matches the area really well!
"It's classic Toby Fox. What I'd classify as Determination." That got the biggest smile out of me. Battle vs AI Sada/Turo invokes dread, an impossible opponent, and then your drive to fight back, the player clutching to gain the upper ground and Sada doubling down as she calls out ROARING MOOOOON!!! Absolutely terrifying.
i don’t know if there’s a single moment in main series pokemon with quite as much sheer sauce as the ai professor dropping a god damn master ball down from on high as the battle theme starts playing
I personally like Kieran's 2nd theme, because it shows that he's starting to go from battling for fun to battling to win. BUT it still shows that a part of him still loves battling for fun, but his obsession with winning is gradually becoming more serious.
27:38 always makes me think of Sonic Forces before anything else. Just feels like it'd fit perfectly in a Sonic game to me. One of my fave tracks too! Nothing can top the number 1 pick tho. I get just as emotional, its a beautiful piece. Great work on this video!
Thank you for this. The technical failures of the game stopped me from thoroughly enjoying it. I fought with myself who was on the brink of quitting the game, just to finish it. If not for the performance, this would have been the best pokemon experience. I’m so glad I finished the base game story but I didn’t have it in me to get the DLC. The story is peak. The maturity is on another level. It is as grand as what Gen 5 aimed for, but better because it was more relatable and it felt more real. I’m so glad I got to experience the story. It is the best story experience the franchise has given us. Yes, the franchise, including the series anime and movies. This game tops them all. It has been a while since I touched my Scarlet, so watching this brought back a lot of emotions. Yes, I was crying during Nemona’s themes; crying during Arven’s theme; CRYING during the three Team Star themes; and bawling during the number one theme. Thank you for this, fellow game music lover.
If you love good story in Pokemon games and you haven't already tried it, you should play a Mystery Dungeon game. In particular, I'd recommend Explorers of Sky. On top of having a story that puts mainline Pokemon games to shame (including Scarlet and Violet) it also has what might be the best soundtrack of any Pokemon game whatsoever! If you like Pokemon and haven't already played it, you're genuinely missing out on one of the greatest games of all time, and I'm not just talking about Pokemon games here. If you've already played it, feel free to disregard my message though.
@@nat298 Mystery Dungeon is childhood trauma; SV is basically poking that trauma with a pitchfork. I kinda see what you mean, maybe personally, SV’s story is more relevant to where I am at now, but yup, MD games are goated through and through.
@@claudeernestbarcelona2465Hey that's fair! I agree that SV's definitely more relatable in nature while Mystery Dungeon is a bit higher stakes, and I have no reason to argue with you over personal tastes. Glad you like MD though, as it is indeed goated.
I’m kinda sad how you keep insulting Kieran’s battle themes. Specifically, the first theme you encounter with him is my favorite; it just sounds like you’re having a good time, and embodies how Kieran is happy to battle you. Edit: I won’t disagree with his Champion theme slapping though😅
I was afraid that the Ace Academy Tournament wouldn't be on this list, but thankfully you were able to recognize that it is peak. You even drew attention to the often overlooked sick af saxophone section. You my friend have once again proven that you are a gentleman and a scholar, and your taste in music is impeccable.
I absolutely love these videos of yours! Your top Sun/Moon tracks video was amazing and I loved this one as well, such great picks + I love seeing your reasoning behind each one. Hard agree on the top picks as well - this game has such a wonderful soundtrack! Can't wait to see (hear?) what Pokémon OSTs have in store for the future!
Ron's ranking videos are like, the final time i can truly extract the full emotional experience from listening to a game's soundtrack even after playing the game every day and hearing each track over and over again, as well as playing the OST practically at all times elsewhere, it can all come back to me when Ron is there to put it into words ☆
The Calamity theme has to be one of my three favourite themes in SV. The others being Penny’s battle theme and the battle theme for the professor. Which do I like more? I’m not sure to be honest.
I actually used the area zero theme for my inspiration in an art class project. I wish I could go back in time and enter the crater for the first time again just so I could relive that moment when my jaw dropped hearing the peaceful vocals and melody. Great video!
It’s always intriguing seeing other peoples opinions because I’m more of a fast pace aggressive song lover so Pecharunts battle theme is by far my favorite alongside Kieran’s champion theme and the BB League Elite Four and Ruinous Quartet
Here's some of mine with no particular order: Mesagoza (Walking) - Fitting for what is basically Paldea's central hub, has the feeling of a dear friend who lives there that welcomes you as you are with open arms, and makes sure you felt safe and satisfied for the adventure that lies ahead. South Province (all versions) - It all started with that sandwich at the beach, and you and Koraidon/Miraidon have already found each other to be the greatest treasure. East Province (Riding) - It's undeniably Paldean (Iberian) with the overall vibes when you're within the East Province on Koraidon/Miraidon's back. Area Zero (Main & Underdepths) - It's like being in another world entirely, where you are not supposed to be there because of the ominous environment, but the urge to discover and carry on anyway to get to the bottom of the mess made the Great Crater what it is to begin with. Battle! AI Sada/Turo - There's a feeling of both thrill and dread while battling the AI version/s of the late Professor Sada/Turo, and the emotions cut deep both positively and negatively. Battle! Koraidon/Miraidon - It may be just a sure Victory Lap, but this is more of Koraidon/Miraidon thanking you personally for that sandwich back at that beach in the South Province, and returning the favor to overcome and win against the bully second Koraidon/Miraidon. Kitakami - Japanese countryside vibes don't disappoint at all since the Johto Region. Terarium - Coastal Biome - Driftveil City reference. Battle! Kieran (all versions) - From a shy and sweet boy, to an unstable little man, and back. Kieran was that great of a rival, and a well-written character to be given a first meeting, then a breakdown, and eventually a satisfying redemption. Battle! Terapagos - Terapagos can turn from just a little guy to a Legendary Pokémon that actually is out for blood after that Kieran and his Master Ball moment. Regardless, a Legendary Pokémon that can go both ways to either be friendly or unstable.
I love and appreciate what you have to say about music. As a visually impaired person music is the best way for me to understand action packed moments in games. I love how you uses a neutral sound effect to “cleanse the pallet “ so to say between each song. Where can I listen to these song outside the game?
I love Area Zero's theme. It reminds me of Making of a Cyborg from Ghost in the Shell, using traditional Bulgarian chants. So fitting to the aesthetic and story of the place! Wonderful video, like always!
Year after year, they still manage to create fire OSTs. It's one thing nearly all Pokémon fans can agree on
and sonic fans with sonic
Yeah especially bringing in Toby Fox like dude Pokemon ost is good enough without him so Gen 8 and 9 are just transcendent
Except for BDSP. They ruined nearly every sinnoh track :(
Since DJ Vice(Giacomo) composed the themes for Team Star, I kinds figured he composed Cassiopeia's theme
And since nobody knew who Cassiopeia was, he created a song that represented the Big Boss who the team looked up to.

Yes!!! I was hoping you’d make one of these for gen 9 eventually. Great list. Agreed especially on the Area Zero themes at the end.
Hi, I just subscribed, I really like your videos and how you also (most likely) love pokemon, like I do. Keep up the great work!
I can't believe I didn't notice the different areas had different wild battle music and overworld music...
For me, #1 is the Area Zero Underdepths theme. It is the ideal reprise of the Area Zero theme. I also just really like ominous/mysterious tracks.
I am now re-thinking my life, as I have always played Pokémon on mute since I was 8.
genuine question
HOW?
do you do this for every game or just pokemon?
Why would you do that?
@@puparomi I used to do it because I played pokemon on the go, in the car, in school etc. And because the red HP sound was annoying (in FireRed it went on forever as log as your pokemon life was in red).
Now on the switch I play with sounds on (have only played Sword so far)
You’ve been missing out my bro
Damn, I never thought someone would made such a mistake in their lives.
YESSS I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS FOR SO LONG
It was a blast helping make the list on stream with you. Personally, I would've put the Team Star Students theme with the Team Star Boss theme, because it's just a lofi rendition of it.
The sax solo in the Ace Tournament theme is the best 30 seconds of ALL of Pokémon’s music. It’s beautiful
I wish he did legends arceus
"It's classic Toby Fox. What I'd classify as Determination."
That got the biggest smile out of me.
Battle vs AI Sada/Turo invokes dread, an impossible opponent, and then your drive to fight back, the player clutching to gain the upper ground and Sada doubling down as she calls out ROARING MOOOOON!!! Absolutely terrifying.
The music videos every once in a while are always a treat. Love how passionate you are about it
i don’t know if there’s a single moment in main series pokemon with quite as much sheer sauce as the ai professor dropping a god damn master ball down from on high as the battle theme starts playing
I personally like Kieran's 2nd theme, because it shows that he's starting to go from battling for fun to battling to win.
BUT it still shows that a part of him still loves battling for fun, but his obsession with winning is gradually becoming more serious.
Love this vid Ron!❤ the only thing that was missing, is the MOCHI MOCHI theme, absolutely a certified banger!
Fun Fact: The part where the BB Elite Four theme loops, it's actually a remix of the intro of the BW Elite Four theme.
ITS FINALLY HERE
I’ve been scored for this video since the game came out
Excited *
It's good to know that I'm not the only one who listens to these fantastic pieces of music every single day
I absolutely love these videos of yours!
Ron's ranking videos are like, the final time i can truly extract the full emotional experience from listening to a game's soundtrack
even after playing the game every day and hearing each track over and over again, as well as playing the OST practically at all times elsewhere, it can all come back to me when Ron is there to put it into words ☆
I already loved the vs team star grunt music, but you describing the details of it made me love it so much more
The Calamity theme has to be one of my three favourite themes in SV. The others being Penny’s battle theme and the battle theme for the professor. Which do I like more? I’m not sure to be honest.
I hadn’t thought about it previously but u raised a good point about the route theme being emotional. Its definitely ageing extremely well
It's sad to see this video not have as many views as some of your other video's have. An underrated video for sure. Loved hearing your opinions
OMG YES, I was waiting for this video!!
I actually used the area zero theme for my inspiration in an art class project. I wish I could go back in time and enter the crater for the first time again just so I could relive that moment when my jaw dropped hearing the peaceful vocals and melody. Great video!
Yay, I’ve been waiting for this video since the games came out! And I’m so happy that my top two favorite themes are yours too! 😁
I wish more poketubers would rank the music in each of the games. Thank you for doing this!
I just finished the DLCs and you post this. Perfect timing
Oh my god it took you 18 months! Finally I'm going to be able to listen to this video.
So glad to see treasures of run theme so high
It’s always intriguing seeing other peoples opinions because I’m more of a fast pace aggressive song lover so Pecharunts battle theme is by far my favorite alongside Kieran’s champion theme and the BB League Elite Four and Ruinous Quartet
Pokémon music goes under appreciated so when it gets appreciated I’ll take it
So _THAT’S_ where all the budget went…
I've been waiting for so long, but it will be worth it
Here's some of mine with no particular order:
Mesagoza (Walking) - Fitting for what is basically Paldea's central hub, has the feeling of a dear friend who lives there that welcomes you as you are with open arms, and makes sure you felt safe and satisfied for the adventure that lies ahead.
Yes! I have been waiting for this!
I love and appreciate what you have to say about music. As a visually impaired person music is the best way for me to understand action packed moments in games. I love how you uses a neutral sound effect to “cleanse the pallet “ so to say between each song. Where can I listen to these song outside the game?
You put these tracks into words better than anyone, which only makes me appreciate them even more!
Fantastic Video as always. Thank you for that :)
Amazing video! ty for sharing your thoughts on all the amazing music of Paldea! More videos like this please!!!
i’ve been waiting so long for this video!!
I love Area Zero's theme. It reminds me of Making of a Cyborg from Ghost in the Shell, using traditional Bulgarian chants. So fitting to the aesthetic and story of the place!
Wonderful video, like always!
I’m ngl, out of all three of them, Kieran’s original theme is still my absolute favourite.
13:10 I feel like the glitch theme is a genuinely good standalone track as opposed to the series main theme AGAIN
Always love these vids!
As someone who usually doesn't play these games with sound, this video was a massive experience! Thanks!
Seeing this upload made my day!
I didn’t even knew until the one cutscene where penny has her hoodie on in the courtyard that cassiopia or something was penny lol
Glad she’s 3rd
Better late than never. I waited a while for one of these. So worth the wait.
Been playing pokemon since red n blue dropped in NA and scarlet n violet have some of the best songs in the franchise
SV OST is honestly great. Kinda wish to see BB Elite Four Theme in the list here. Still great list
7:51 It is. (I assume you skipped some parts)
@@truegreen7My bad 😂
Area Zero's theme is the single best overworld theme in Pokemon.
Eat your heart out, Driftveil City.
