Atmospheric and powerful cover! I'd like to share with you one of my dreams which is to hear real pipe organ playing some classical piece arranged with extreme drumming including lot of blastbeats. I think it might sound like hell!
Jesse Hook I know right? His hand are so tight it makes everything look effortless. And he's using some big sticks for his relatively small figure and absoulty shreds it. Totally in control of the rebound. Uses the "flying finger" for almost everything. Bet he has little to no wrist problems. Unlike me, nine years of self taught, sloppy drumming has take a toll on my wrists man! Humbles you when you see guys online, especially some of these newer channels with kids who have been playing for less time than I have, but are infinitely better. Shows the difference between a hobby drummer (I love playing don't get me wrong) and people who wanna make it in life with drums.
Agreed 100%. I played for 12 years, before a I sold my drums and didn't play for 15 years.. Now, I have a set of e-drums in hopes of catching up atleast half of what I forgot (during the 15 years I didn't play).. the road is long.. painfully long. But today, I noticed I can play (with my feet) 30s longer than 2 days ago, without any pain in my legs. Slowly getting there. After this endeavor, it's time to start working on my finger and leg control.. which will be another 5 years I guess :D
Actually Wanja does not use flying fingers at all - he plays everything with the push-pull (open-close) technique involving both wrists and fingers. It is great for power, endurance and stamina but is really hard to learn. He uses a mix of german and french grip and adds more power by thumb movement and a little bit of wrist on the first stroke and just closes his hand on second stroke. Seems easy but I've been learning it for six months now and believe me - it is hard as hell to get this down. Respect.
I just compared this cover to the actual behemoth drummer video that is linked to this... you are actually a tighter drummer all around. You blast beats dont struggle like his do.. Im not sure if that is just his style, but he always ends up playing on the back side of the beat, if you know what im talking about, and your cover is spot on the beat. Makes me jealous knowing that you can basically be in any band that you choose man. And you should definitely be in one. (I know that you are, I just havent checked them out yet, I haven't had time.. haha I will right now) Great job Wanja. You are my favorite drummer at the moment. Thanks for all your uploads. Thank you! Inferno is a great drummer (and one of my main inspirations) but he grew up without TH-cam etc (I remember him talking about that in some interview) and noone taught him how to develop a good drumming technique for playing fast and that is why he is sometimes struggeling at the fast parts. Still I think it is super impressive what he achieved even without a good technique! (And also keep in mind that he is a little bit older than me ;) )

My mistake, I misunderstood what a gravity blast was in the first place. After a quick research I found that the gravity blast is not at all what I thought it was. Let me correct my comment then: It amazes me at how well you master this blasting technique!
Best cover you've ever done my dude, and easily the cleanest cover of this song on the Tube (especially those fills!) Nailed it! Oh, and btw nice fucking audio mix. It's cool hearing you play with your gear properly mic'ed. Triggers were a tiny bit loud compared to the toms and snare but God damn that clean!

The whole song is not THAT fast. But it has many little tempo changes that often make the listener THINK that a certain part is faster than it actually is ;) Max tempo for double bass is 215bpm and the fastest blast beats are in the end and they are at 248bpm.

I don't want him to jeust record his acoustic drum bass, just at least change the sample. I agree, this sample isn't horrible but it's still a detail to me. I mean;actually you are right, this sample is good for the style of drumming but ther's just not enough bass in the sample(the ones basses that punches in the abdomen)

My drums are just mixed in a way that they overpower the original drums. So i don't use drumless versions.

It was created by the guy (Ivan from Craving) who mixed this and as far as I know it consists of around 10 bass drum samples put together.
