Never do a heavy first coat. Always do a tack coat first, lightly to get the paint to bond to the surface. The first coat should be slightly transparent because it's more about bonding than coverage. The black looks better in my opinion, good job!
Jake "Man of great patience!" the Snake :) Wow the work that must have been in real time. Needless to say the results speak for themselves, but still, holy crap! Truly, all in the lines of creating a one off, killer ride! Nice work Jake!
Jake, i wouldnt wear gloves while working with a wire wheel. The glove might catch the wheel and pull your hand in. If the wire wheel toughes your bare skin it really doesnt hurt or do much damage. Looking out for you bro
Be interesting to see how that stuff holds on the various metals. I have had some rustoleum stay just fine on stainless / aluminum after having used their etching primer. Other times, it flakes off super easily, especially on aluminum. And that was after a full cleaning, scuffing, prime, etc.
@@TheGardenSnake love ya Jake but it's still in the air after a minute and I can hold my breath for at least a minute and a half and I still don't think that's enough

The overspray must be literally everywhere! 😳🤣
Naw, the floor is where most lands and it doesn’t even stick. Literally leaf blower got it clean.
That’s a sick paint job! Nice work! Thank you

This project looks like a lot of fun. 👍
Yeah it’s really fun getting to take something this far
A good tip for anyone else trying to paint something like this, foam ear plugs are great for masking small-medium sized bolt holes.
I wish this comment could travel back in time haha
I like that little flip razor!
I see, i have missed out on the latest vids, imma have to rewatch a lot xD
Dude I was thinking the same thing
As a novice painter, you're doing great putting down those coats Jake
Light coats is the right way to do it

Yeah that’s a controversial deal with info on both side that makes sense.

Well will see, hopefully it’s ok
good job on the masking !
That motor would look cool the same color as the frame with parts of it painted black
I could see that
Maybe Matt black with gold or bronze Cerakote cam cover and ignition/clutch covers would be interesting.
Michelangelo!
Lol. "I can hold my breath... its fine."
Haha I mean I’m only out there for about minute with each coat even with stopping the camera
3rd video on my home page. Heck yeah
I really want to see Jake get a military KLR650 Diesel just to see what he would do with it
I need to join discord but honestly, my 2 jobs have me jacked up on everything
Dude please no gloves with the bench grinder. I’ve seen way too many accidents.
Was thinking the same
Yep no gloves. You lose some skin. Maybe a finger. With gloves you could lose the whole hand.
Use your head and it’s fine. You should see how I clean motorcycle chains when cameras are off 😂. It’s like the “safety” on my pewpews 😉
I had no idea this was a thing.
@@TheGardenSnake in all fabrication workshops it’s forbidden to use gloves on anything rotating. Definitely safer to not use them than to use them ❤
Hey Jake, how many videos ahead are the patreon members?

What more can you do to a 300L? Eat it? Dude. You need to accept the bike for what it is.
Uh… no
Coming along nicely.
Hey Jake - What is that folding knife handle with the Single Edge Razor Blade. I like it. (Share a Link!)
Those came from the military, someone gave them to me
@@TheGardenSnake Pretty cool.
all i can think is "damn... painting in a closed garage..."
I had the door cracked but I could open much more then that. Wind was crazy haha.
I think you are doing an awesome job!! Ignore the idiot haters 🙄🙄
Thanks. Don’t worry, hardly anyone is a “hater” here. I’ve been doing this for so long too that it’s pretty hard to get to me that way.
Damn no rumble again. Waited 17 hours to be sure. Its broken.
🤷♂️ I’ll work on it
