- I'm a huge fan of 38 Special and if you grew up in the 80's like me you'll know that they were on top of the world for a good stretch with so many great hit songs and incredible albums that rocked!!! I decided to cover this amazing song "Caught Up In You" off of their 1982 album "Special Forces" and give it an "Unplugged" feel with acoustic guitar and piano. I hope you enjoy my rendition of this awesome tune!

My girlfriend loves this song and I really just can't stomach the overall sound of the original but your version is pleasant to the ears despite my not enjoying the track. You really smoothed out the harshest elements of this music and I appreciate your work as I attempt to learn it.

Thank you Dr Joe! I'm so glad you liked my version and very sorry for your vocal cord damage from acid reflux. I actually had an issue with that for a few years and overcame it and you can actually heal your vocal cords if you focus on that. Thanks again and best of luck!
@@KurtGottmusic thank you. I'm gonna try. I sure miss singing. Last time I sang was last year, I did Hey Jealousy, Gin Blossoms. I have a video of it on my channel. My voice was shot but last video I have of me singing. My computer crashed and lost all my videos of me singing but this one, recorded on my phone that was me drunk, in a bar with my nephew. Lol.

Great job, man! I think you owned the song. Really beautiful arrangement, well sung/played. If anything seemed less than optimal (and this is just my opinion!) it was the use of vocal harmony. You singing with yourself on the chorus was *really* emotionally impactful, but doing it so much on other lines detracted a bit from that impact. But I must say again, awesome job on the whole thing!

I love this rendition. The harmonies really make this version stand out much more than if they were left out. As a .38 Special fan, this stripped down arrangement hit the right mood with the piano and harmonizing vocals which were needed since the original had so many layered sounds. Thanks so much for sharing.

I guess it was a little bit of both reasons, the open chords sound better on the acoustic and dropping down a whole step to the key of D really was much better for my voice and vocal range. That's great that your band covers this song the original way! The song is great no matter how it's done but the original way 38 Special played it is totally rockin!

Hey Matthew I don't have all the chords written down but I dropped the original song down a whole step from E to D because it was more in my vocal range. I play entirely by ear and I'm not the best at tutorials... maybe if I have some time I can write them all down and post them in the description section under the video.
