Today we have a VERY exciting video featuring my Lola, where she will be teaching us Tagalog and Ilocano!!! She moved to the United States when she was 19 years old from Ilocos Sur in the Philippines and has such a cool and rich history. She's also a natural TH-camr as we see here. "iniibig kita" is more old-fashioned and very romantic, like Shakespeare's cheesy lines (poetic in short). and you can't use this to anyone, just to your lover 😊 while "mahal kita" can be used to anyone 😊
It's actually not a old fashioned, it's actually a different since adding ini can turn the word into verb so likely it can translate "I am loving you" well maybe not quite since i grew up in upland region of cavite mostly the old fashioned Tagalog is intact hell even Gen Z here can commonly say "Iniirog Kita" which also another I love you that can translate into "I'm in love with you"
@@veesenpai2285 And this is the difference between Filipino and Tagalog. As you grew up speaking Caviteno Tagalog, iniibig, iniirog would be more commonplace. Mahal is more commonly used by one that grew up in Metro Manila :)

I'm half Filipino. This is hyper-sentimental but my grandma passed when my mother was 12. This video gets very close to filling a void in my life of which I am not always aware. A+ content, guys!

As a Spanish speaker I learned that Tagalog has Spanish influence. When they said trabaho, I immediately say “trabajo (work) has the same pronunciation in Spanish”. Love your vids ✨

It’s a greeting that expresses “May you have a long life!” or “May you live longer!”
It can be interchangeably used for “Hello!”, “Welcome!”, “Cheers!”, “Success!” or any expressions of hospitality, joy, enthusiasm, empowerment and goodwill.
It’s similar to “Aloha!”, “Viva!” or “Banzai!”
Mabuhay is "Long live!" not just "Live!"
@@icecreamcake5381 _Mabuhay_ just means “Live” (Denotation). _Buhay_ means life. Adding _ma_ makes it a conjugated verb (pandiwa) which just means “live” or to live.
Although as an expression, it can connotatively mean “Long live!” because when you want something or someone to live, it automatically means you want that something or someone to live longer. So, yes _“Mabuhay!”_ can mean _Long live!_ also.

"Iniibig kita" is specificly said to your beloved like a girl friend or boy friend, wife or husband. Mahal kita is for the other loves. "Mabuhay" is long life, long live.
Iniibig kita is loosely translated as “I’m in love with you”. Mahal kita direct translation is I love you.
MABUHAY IS A ROOT WORD FOR MAHABA ANG BUHAY… and thats right its LONG LIFE, LONG LIVE. Hehe

This is so fun. 1960 is a long time and she still remembers most Tagalog words. Slay queen you could say “Go teh!” It literally means you go girl or also “Kabog” which I don’t know what it means but it can be a substitute.
Focus on your blooming can be translated as: “Bigyang tuon ang iyong pagyabong”

_Karapatan_ is right. _Tao_ is human. _Pantao_ is for humans.
_Bakla_ is gay. Therefore Gay Rights would be _Karapatang Pangbakla._
_pan_ and _pang_ are Tagalog affixes.
However, Tagalog doesn’t really use gender-based references. For example, Tagalog doesn’t have male or female pronouns (he or she). There’s a great sense of gender-neutrality in Tagalog.
He is strong = _Siya ay malakas._
She is strong = _Siya ay malakas._
It’s the same. _Siya_ is he or she. _Ay_ is is. _Malakas_ is strong.
So if you asked me, Gay Rights is better referred to as _Karapatang Pantao._ In Tagalog, whether you are a man, woman, girl, boy, bakla, gay, tomboy, lesbian, etc. - everyone has _Karapatang Pantao_ because gay rights are human rights.

Gay rights in tagalog is literally translated as "karapatang pang-bakla" but we just normally would say "karapatang pantao" (human rights) in general. 😄 Hahaha

We do not limit but instead, focus our attention to the LGBTQIA+ community who as we all know, are victims of discrimination and oppression.

It was ‘invented’ to have codes or a secret language that only the gay community would readily understand. Alright guys! Aside from all the different dialects that have no similarities...tagalog and English...we also have what is called "Gay Lingo (language)". You can literally Google it and you'll find almost a dictionary because there are so many words!
1. Pak! -- like an affirmation, in general when you did something awesome or agree with something or someone with a passion
2. "Gora te!" -sort of equivalent to "go, girl"...gora is derived from go and "te" is short for ATE (a-te which means big sister or anyone who is a girl/young woman)
3. Tarush! = either describing someone who is being sassy or that's what you'd be called if you did something fierce or awesome 👌
I encourage you to research more on this! The derivation of the words are really interesting and entertaining and shows you a whole new side of Gay Filipinos 😋
Actually, Filipinos know at least three languages. There is our common tongue, Tagalog, then English. There are other languages we learn depends on where you live in the Philippines. Ilocano, Ivatan, Kapampangan, Pangasinense are spoken in the northern regions of the Philippines. Bisaya, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Waray, Karay-a are spoken in the central and southern regions of the Philippines.
It is nice to hear both of you to speak tagalog. and I love your lolas.

@@kiel56 No, language. Dialect would be Cavite Tagalog, Bulacan Tagalog, Laguna Tagalog, Rizal Tagalog, Batangas Tagalog. Tagalog in itself is a dying language as Filipino has grown in usage. I speak Filipino but would never claim to know how to speak Tagalog out of respect for those of the Tagalog region.

Literal translation of “Slay, Queen!” in Tagalog is _Patayin mo, Reyna!_
However, these transliterations may sound awkward and way too direct in Tagalog.
The locally/culturally appropriate Tagalog translation of “Go, Queen!” or “Slay, Queen!” would be _Laban, Reyna!_ which means “Fight, Queen!”
But because Tagalog is usually gender-neutral, we can just say _Laban!_
The queen or _reyna_ reference can be understood contextually and locally depending on the situation that it is being said.

I think its wrong. Work ghurl can be like "Magtrabaho ka ghurl!" . "KAYA MOH YAN TEH” Or “GO TEH” Or “PUSH MO YAN TEH is "Go Girl!" There is a difference between the two.
I think "push" works best in that context but I've heard other people say "rampa", "bakla-in", "i-todo" or "todohin" before and I think they work just as well.

I am married to a Canadian and my husband only wanted to learn first my dialect ( Cebuano) so as not to confuse himself from one dialect to the other. The only thing right now I'm teaching our little one is for her to do " mano po" which is showing respect to the elders in Filipino way. Ask your grandma about it. You'll put a smile to her face🥰
The last phrase should be translated as "Pagtuonan mo ng pansin ng iyong pagpapaganda.".
Focus= "tuon" "pagtuonan"
Attention= "pansin"
Your= "iyo" "iyong"
Blooming= "pamumukadkad(when the subject is flower)" and "pagpapaganda(when referring to a person)"
