  • The global outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic forced many governments, including Zimbabwe to take strict measures in order to curb the spread of the virus. The Zimbabwean Government in collaboration with UN bodies/agencies, NGOs, private sector and other civil organisations are instituting measures to help tackle the pandemic and support the most vulnerable communities. The Zimbabwe Livelihoods and Food Security Programme (LFSP) using the inbuilt mechanisms for programme adaptability, immediately developed a COVID-19 Response Plan and risk mitigation matrix covering policy support, ensuring continuity of field level engagement of beneficiaries and offering necessary support for adhering to testing, hygiene and social distancing requirements to programme staff, beneficiaries and partners. Roll out of this plan enabled the LFSP partners with concurrence of DFID, to repurposing up to USD500,000 existing programme funds to respond to the pandemic.
