You don't need to keep beefalos fed as long as you ride it everyday, only stopping to pick stuff, cooking, etc. All you need is 16 twigs, grass or food per day (feed 4 every quarter of the day) or 20 if you don't want any chance of the saddle being dropped to conserve its durability. The feeding here is only to keep obedience high enough for you to ride. One trick you can do to conserve resources it to ride it and do your daily stuff until you can't mount the beefalo due to its low obedience. Then feed just enough twigs to ride again. But this way you risky the saddle dropping, however you can pay attention to the beefalo's animation, if you see him shaking then click on him to stop the saddle drop and feed just enough twigs to ride back again. One last thing the beefalo will follow you slowly when you dismount and won't drop the saddle, so you can pick any stuff nearby without worrying about the obedience. But when you get near it and wait for 1-2 seconds he will drop it(if obedience is low), but all you need to do is cancel the animation like I said before to avoid the saddle dropping. Also, avoid dismounting the beefalo nearby mobs when in heat, he will probably die.
And in terms of feeding, dragon pies are the way to go. In terms of farming, it's probably the only seed you need. 20days*4 pies each day= 80 seed. You can easily just get up to 40, then start them planting, and everytime your beef gets hungry, feed him a few pies (youtuber says 4 but I've been doing 3 a day just fine, and occasionally before mounting, i feed 3 grass). You can use him to hunt for meat against pigs or spiders or frogs ect. While he eats the pies and you really dont have anything to worry about. Occasionally betweem crop harvests, give the bird your extra fruit to accumulate the extra seed. It's mot exactly an early game process sure, but it should be easy once you get your base settled, and after he's taimed, it's like the absolute best. You run twice as fast (no drawback from a piggy back) fight super aggressively, and take little to no damage in general fights
A quick question: does the beefalo stay tamed forever after he reaches 100% being tamed and becomes perma-ornery? what will happen to him if i leave him for like 100 days?

Here's a nice tip if you wanna avoid feeding your beefalo entirely build a salt lick. It will last 15 days and will prevent all domestication loss so you will only need to keep your beefalo fed enough to keep riding it with the brush you could only feed it a couple twigs a day then ride it as much as possible leading to the rider tendency which imo is the most useful

Taming single player in ROG because you are so funny and made me think I could do it. A few things from ROG. They still go into heat after domestication. Doing that, bundling wraps are the way to go because no spoilage while bundled. I just slowly build up my supply putting 12 dragon pies in each bundle then choose when I am ready. No stress. Another way would be to make the fistful of jam with ONE berry and three ice, bundle it up too in packets small enough so they don't spoil after opening/using, gather enough to finish before you start. Same with the glossamer saddle. Catch 10, bundle. Catch some another day, unwrap add bundle.. saves a ton of time.
I have a question, once the animal is fully domesticated I assume you still have to feed it but do you lose domestication overtime and constantly have to keep at it? or does it just become keeping it fed to regenerate health?
It seems to take a lot longer for it to get hungry after it's been domesticated? After it's domesticated, if it asks for food, give it a couple sticks. It'll be fine for a long time again. Or even just give it one every day or two. If that doesn't curb the nervousness enough, put down some salt licks and you can even leave it alone for a few days - just feed it when you get back, those may prevent un-domestication but I dunno if it stops them from starving.

I had a hilarious bug with my ornery beefalo, named Vladislav. My friend wanted to ride Vlad, and when he got on top of the beefalo, Vladislav became invisible, and my friend was just floating when riding it. Vlad was a damned magician.

Jisatsu Saru actually it’s cause the %s are from a mod. I don’t think you can even saddle/domesticate in base DS. You won’t see the specific Stats shown here (the numbers under his sanity health and hunger) in base DST unless you do have mods installed.

It’s okay to give them 2-3 grass/twigs per ride. It’s way suitable than feeding them multiple resources it’s not like your making a pudgy anyways, maybe you are that is if you’re playing passive. Good luck surviving against Giants though.
Beefalo are great to get the pieces fore the Shadow pieces battle, but it takes so much food that iul die if u don't know what iur doing, and the thing can die living u using a HUGE amount of food fore nothing xD
Cant seem to get this one. On the ps4, can't see hunger value. Doing it blind. Something must be going wrong, I feed him to the max everyday and he's in a pen with salt licks. Is he overfeeding himself?
If Twiggy tree's are in your world. Tame that cow temporarily for quicker map exploration. Then kill him before winter. You can get all the material's back with killing pigs on said cow.
