We save the cruel and ruthless Draconis Combine from the cruel and ruthless Smoke Jaguar.........cheers??? Anyways, definitely looking forward to getting this game. Still recall good memories playing Mechwarrior 2. I learn clan names for mech first, only learn Inner Sphere names after. Alway be the TimberWolf to me.
The thing is the Combine we see today is not the same that was leading them during the early stages of the succession wars. Plus the smoke jaguar were also getting quite brute with their approach.
Doesn't matter if you choose to go warden or crusader path in the game. Story was already written thirty years ago and is set in stone, Smoke jag and Nova Cat still get pushed out of Luthien. In the warden path your more so allied with Wolfs Dragoons merc company rather than House Kurita.
Thrustmaster's HOTAS is modeled after the thunderbolt II flight stick, mounting socket was also modeled after the later versions of the locking collar. That being said Battletech is late mid to late 80's retro futurism, it fits. (More than likely it was a stock asset they had, either from UE5 or out of MSFT lib from Asobo). Real irony is if you actually try to use that stick in MWO you're pretty much guaranteed to be hard stuck in T5 :P.
I was hoping the second half would be facing Perez or your other former superior. Solidifying that tou're no longer a clanner and everyone is trying to arrogantly take you down only turned to horror on just how tough tou are.
i never knew there were to ending i just picked to help MIia cuz i i liked being with the clan instead of running away like Ezra did (Spoilers) like i knew you can pick to go with Ezra when picking what side to go with but never knew there were two ending in MW5 Clans
You went in with your guys not even on full health and still won 😭😭 this has to be on story mode. The best I can do on normal is getting 3 nearly dead mechs to the area just before the dropship to get killed by the warhawk. It's so mean that there's no ammo refills in this level
Yeah, this was on story mode after I lowered the difficulty during the mission where you fought that bullet spongy Sokol. I'm replaying it on higher difficutly now while actually investing more time in outfitting the mechs myself and I have to say it makes great difference. The ammo shortage can be circumvented by using energy weapons. ER Lasers are great choice - I'm using them in many builds and the damage output is enormous.
@damsonn i got right to the end on normal but had to lower it for this mission. Can't believe how close I was. I might try again on normal with lasers, i just couldn't resist the ac20s 😂
Not at all surprised that Mia chose bondsref; not only is she fully-indoctrinated into the Crusader philosophy, those Enhanced Imaging implants couldn't have helped her questionable sanity and/or objectivity at all, either. Clanner 'culture' is utter trash, on-the-whole; even the 'nice' ones such as the Ghost Bears (mostly friendly, but kinda clingy :p) or the Diamond Sharks (most egalitarian towards their non-Warriors) are still far too alien. The Wardens aren't that much better; Ulric Kerensky never intended to fight *alongside* the Inner Sphere _as equals_ , but as 'benevolent protectors / parental figures who know best / better than any of you'... In other words, an even more sanctimonious version of House Davion's 'Father Knows Best' philosophy, only backed by a beyond-Star League-tier tech base and a Warrior caste than demands obedience from their non-Warriors, or else. I am not joking nor exaggerating; see how the Coyotes and or Steel Vipers treat their freeborn and/or non-Warriors, both of whom are ostensibly Warden, or the Cloud Cobras who massacred at least one of the Tanite worlds' populace. Still see the Smoke Jaguars as the near-absolute worst-of-the-worst, though some are even worse... leaving out any further elaboration for another time.
The Kerensky Clans are peak German philosophy (Marx, Nietzsche, and a few others) plus the mad ravings of Nicholas (Alexander was sane by comparison). He destroyed civilization and created the true meaning of utopia (should look up Thomas More's book that make the term). They are the paragons of collectivism and really should be looked into as the future plans for a certain group of people in power now in the US.
Mia's voice lines sound like she was in some sort of echo chamber away from all the other voice actors. Why does it sound such bad quality? its jarring
Voice acting was good, but her character writing was a bit self contradicting. Constantly talking about the clan ways and honor but then goes out with dishonor by ignoring the tradition of bondsman and bondref. I guess you could just chop it up to the EI scrambling her brains.
@@MrTBSCthat's kinda sad , I wonder if we'll see a career mode added in a dlc? Or more story dlc , especially with an ending like this showing that there are still battles with the clans to have.
It might use the same engine and assets but this is a full new game. the environments alone feel nothing alike compared to the procedurally generated flat boring worlds of mercenaries. if you knew anything about the series you would know this has been done with two other titles just in the other direction.
That writing is extremely rough. Clearly PGI's writers never took a course on writing for the screen. Just walls and walls of nonstop chatter that should have been trimmed down. I'm also still not over how Clan warriors are being portrayed as having basically Judeo-Christian ethics (killing is wrong, killing civilians is wrong even if they fought against warriors which is a cardinal sin in Clan society and is always met with brutal repression and has been for hundreds of years, etc.) even though they were, you know, raised in a society in which those values simply do not exist. The hardest thing about writing characters from different cultures is putting your own cultural baggage aside, and PGI's writers just couldn't do it. And Edo wasn't genocide at all. No one was trying to exterminate the Kuritan race. It was a punitive strike against civilians in collective punishment for Yakuza resistance. Clanners, who are very sensitive about things like genetics and genocide, would know the difference and not just use "genocide" as a catch-all term for killing some people.
Did the entire city of Edo stand against them, did every citizen grab a gun and start fighting back? No they did not, most tried to find shelter when the metal behemoths starts fighting each-other. I'm pretty sure that few are calling it a genocide, as it is not that. But it is an indiscriminate bombardment of an civilian target. It is using military force against non-combatants. It is killing children en masse for events they had no control over. It is precisely the the sort of "inner sphere tyranny" that they condemn. With that sort of attitude the only reason that Clan Smoke Jaguar has not committed the same sort of heinous acts as they condemn House Kurita for committing is not that they don't have it in them, it's merely a question of time until they do it. Extermination of an entire city and the one responsible for it is merely demoted (but still holding a pretty high rank) and "shunned", though apparently still able to gather a power-base around him with Clanners who agree with his actions.
"raised in a society in which those values simply do not exist." Just a little FYI here, this is wrong. Even Clans have lines drawn, Dietr Osis and the rest of the clans were also disgusted with what the Jaguars have been doing. Osis himself challenged Perez because of his actions. The basis some of their culture, like batchalls and such (originally anyway) were to reduce casualties and material lost. This was twisted over time but some of those ideas are still there.
What the hell are you talking about? lol Stop this "leftist" BS and putting your political views into this. If you actually read the lore, they weren't the only ones in the clans who thought what SJ was doing was wrong.
I can't beat the mission before this the ai is too god damn fucking awful, I'm ready to uninstall the game, can't even find any video on anyone else completing it.
Haha you need to properly outfit your mechs. Remember how clan wolf was the best clan cause they favored energy load outs well you need to do the same here.
I did the penultimate mission on normal difficulty if it's the one where you defend the base it wasn't too bad. Go light on ammo and fill up on armour, there's plenty off ammo refills on the map. Stay in the base and defend the generators. Each one you save gives you a mechbay. I equipped my mech for very short range brawling, ac20s and srms I think. If you can get behind mechs it's usually just 2 or 3 shots to kill but it burns through ammo so fast it's not really feasible in any other mission
this game made me realize, I do not care what so ever for Battletech lore. All I want is the mechs, the mech lab, and the explosions. I really couldnt care less about the characters, the different clans, the different IS houses. made me decide not to buy, as I do not play mechwarrior games for the lore.
