What an amazing opportunity for Adam to pick the brain of probably the best rider in the world. Sam's willingness to give advice and share his knowledge really shows a lot about his character and what kind of person he is. An absolute legend. Great video.
Pinkbike this series you are running “privateer” is so so awesome. Can’t wait until the next. Advice from Sam on line choice....can it get any better! 🤘🏻
holy getting lessons from yoann and sam on line choice, training from well established coach and mental games from another established coach really this is worth so much thx pinkbike and thx Adam for putting himself to be judged by all of us
It’s absolutely amazing to see how far Adam has come. Good lad. I love this series. It’s amazing to see the top athletes being this down to earth, seeing how they deal with the stresses of racing. Good to see they’re human too.
Sam Hill makes it sound so easy with fairly basic advice, yet he is so consistently good. Must be more to it than he is letting on? Or maybe it's that everyone else over thinks it?
Mr Sam "never the main line" Hill, true to his nickname, seeing him share how he sees the track and how he stays away from the main line and why is always a treat. Kudos for him to take some time and accept to share his views. Now then..... There are many opportunity to see this, but i'll take the 1st one available. Look at 00:46. Do you remember last video when Todd told Adam that he was "from a physical conditioning point of view" there with his team of riders? Look again at this picture and you can see that this is total non-sense, and to be fair, doing a disservice to Adam. Sam Hill (Yoann, the Athertons, Gwin, Minaar, Vouilloz...) are all in the same shape (plus or minus). Do you think they look more like Sam Hill or Adam "from a physical conditioning point of view there"? 01:22, Pinkbike you need to get Adam someone who can get him on a diet to work for his needs, his physique is quite the opposite of Sam Hill's. Sam Hill's T-shirt is hanging on his shoulders and he has no gut, Adam's T-shirt is showing no shoulders and hanging of his guts. Granted Sam Hill's life is riding at the level he is at and his body geared towards achieving what he does, but if you want Adam to reach is potential, and see how far he can go, he needs to lose weight, eat better, and do a lot more cardio than he seems to do. 05:13 to 06:04 is should be engraved in gold!!! Beyond that i remember in episode 2 (i think) i asked why he isn't crashing, braking equipment, testing everything to his limits to see what his material can take and how far he can push it.. I am puzzled by Adam's question regarding working on corners. Did he truly mean for kids or did he ask it jokingly as in "hey man should i work on my corners"....
Sams logic is pretty obvious on any track, stay out of the broken holes and brake bumps save heaps of time. Problem is you can never remember how to approach the right line for the set up, you just get lured into the beaten path every time!
Hah I learned English at language courses at school and from yt videos, and I can understand most of what Sam says... But when I listen to Josh Bryceland I can't get a single word, its like another language 😂😂
Hes got a strange weight dynamic. Thin underdeveloped upper body, thick calves and small arms with a long torso. Roadie? A good 8 months of upper body and quad training would have been much better. Get the body up to race lvl. I dont think this entire project is that fair truthfully, considering the franchise owners financial ability to fund. The person should have had time to build up the body and get fit first. That is a smart and responsible choice given the funding capability. He was in bad shape in the beginning. Get fit first then go into the riding, ride training and time trials then the racing. If you want to build a winner, they should get all the conditioning and race prep prior to the actual race circuit schedule. At his age a solid year of upper body bodybuilding, quad, glute and strength training would have greatly assisted his efforts. Dont forget a nutritionalist to hold his feet to the fire cuz we all cheat :). This series felt rushed and not planned well for the rider. Like a false dream attempt. putting an older guy out of shape in a super dangerous position is unresponsable and dangerous. Its a good idea but to see the full potential of the target athlete much more planning should have been done. Imho
mjs1231 you realise adam has already had top 100 ews race results. Top 100 at an ews is no joke. So he was already fit, just maybe not elite level athlete fit. If you watched the whole series you’ll have seen where his strength and conditioning coach says that by the end of the regime his fitness (and skills) is close enough to the top racers to be competitive, his main weakness compared to them being his mental focus. Looking fit is not the same as being fit, something a lot of people doing weights down the gym should pay more heed to.
advice from Sam Hill,,,priceless..wow!!!! Best in the world..
super interesting and helpful

Good Luck Adam for the EWS!! We are all supporting you! 💥🤘💯🎉🍾👏👊👍⚡️😄🍾🍾
Sam Hill priceless advice ... avoid the holes .... got it .
"yeah, you don't wanna be on the brakes as much as that dude..." Haha gold
Rob Bradshaw Came down here looking for this
I've been watching Harry Potter. Glad I'm not the only one using this awesome technique
Bryce Bott I did laugh when he said that😂 don’t think Sam quite knew how to respond to that
Sam's vision of Yohann- "running the track naked with a cyclocross bike.." 🤣🤣 pretty dead on
holy getting lessons from yoann and sam on line choice, training from well established coach and mental games from another established coach really this is worth so much
thx pinkbike and thx Adam for putting himself to be judged by all of us
Awesome! I just love watching these! Some riding with Yoann here some track walk with Sam there...living the life :D
It’s absolutely amazing to see how far Adam has come. Good lad. I love this series. It’s amazing to see the top athletes being this down to earth, seeing how they deal with the stresses of racing. Good to see they’re human too.
Basically Sam is riding another track, 95% of the times off the main lines
Daily uploads? Dam this is so good
Nice one Adam and Sam. Great questions and walk through. Really enjoyed it.
Sam, what a legend. That advice on sessioning corners is crucial
Awesome advice. Love the series. Way more positive than when he was talking to Yoann. Good luck adam.
Yes! Please keep this series going next year!!
Good luck Adam! This is/was the best series on pinkbike and I hope that there will be more than 10 episodes...
Super cool series. GO ADAM!
Awesome videos Pinkbike! Some wicked advice there from sam; good on ya! Good luck with the race Adam!
Adam hit the gravity racing jackpot by getting chosen to do this series.
Consistency wins championships. Sam really is the man 👌
Great to hear line choice from a mtb master. Insightful and interesting.
Best series ever. Come on Adam
Best episode so far!
So the best advise is pick the line with the least holes even if going slower speed will be consistent and your body will last longer !
In order to finish first, you first have to finish.
Did you guys forget to normalize the audio?
Sam is too much of a natural to be a good teacher.
Coming up on the next episode of privateer:
IT'S TIME TO RIDE
I think Sam is more Louis Theroux documentary Netflix type kinda guy haha
is the guy narrating the dude who did the beyond the peloton doc with Cervelo?
Its like when ronnie coleman went to train michael jackson. Lol
Underrated comment.
good series
@Sam Hill You're a legend man. Good luck Adam. I'm sure You'll make the top 50 man. Fuck Yeah.
How sound is Sam Hill???
I’m the dude at 7:15......unfortunately
0:40 "some truly money can't buy advice" well technically pink bike can buy that knowledge from Sam
Sam Hill makes it sound so easy with fairly basic advice, yet he is so consistently good. Must be more to it than he is letting on? Or maybe it's that everyone else over thinks it?
I used to ride dh with sam in wa and he is like *fast*
What kind of weird water bottle is Sam Hill carry in his hand it seems to be very soft plastic...such a legend.
I've been searching hard, fancy one myself - Hydrapak SF750
www.amazon.com/Hydrapak-B216O-SF750-SoftFlask/dp/B00LGUXME4
I guess Sam Hill is sponsored by Monster, clues are socks, shirt and cap. ;D
i wonder next episode
Is it just me, or are aussies just friggin amazing with bikes?

If you want to be fast...be smooth
I'd go 10 minutes faster just saying Hi and fan-girling over Sam
"The only sucker Id spike naked maybe"
please add subtitles in Spanish
Kyan Bowker please shut up
@Francisco fuenteabla should've told him to go vete a la mierda
Sams logic is pretty obvious on any track, stay out of the broken holes and brake bumps save heaps of time. Problem is you can never remember how to approach the right line for the set up, you just get lured into the beaten path every time!
OMG! with S. Hill.. nice
Beat Sam Hill! lol!
I can't never understand very well what Sam says !!!!! English is my second language... damn it I don't speak Aussie
Hah I learned English at language courses at school and from yt videos, and I can understand most of what Sam says... But when I listen to Josh Bryceland I can't get a single word, its like another language 😂😂
Soooo as a privateer why is he "supported" by a very large number of bike/equipment brands???
BobaFett MTB it's called privateer because he started of as a privateer, then got the luck of sponsor's and more
You obviously haven’t been paying attention to the whole damn series have you?
nope this is my first one. That would explain a lot XD
The goal of the series is to see if having pro backing will elevate a privateers results in competition. Well that’s what I think it is in a nutshell.
perrocon atakes just some TH-cam vid’s calm your ass
Who else lives in Australia
About 24.13 million people

Its a good idea but to see the full potential of the target athlete much more planning should have been done. Imho
i bet this 'older guy' would ride circles around you and all your brawny gym buddies. on an off day.
Adam is like 28 or so...and spending one year in the gym never made a good mtber
mjs1231 you realise adam has already had top 100 ews race results. Top 100 at an ews is no joke. So he was already fit, just maybe not elite level athlete fit. Your talking like he's 45
So boring
