    Welcome to Perth. No surprise about QANTAS. They have really been on the nose lately but the leprechaun has gone and hopefully they will improve. If you are still in Perth we turned on the British weather for you. Pretty shitty out there. Make sure you go to Kings Park during the day and at night, it is a great view. Apart from that, get out of the city. 😁

    Welcome back to Australia, and to my home town, Perth! I couldn't make it to the meet and greet as I was working late, but I hope you have an enjoyable time here.
    Qantas aren't known for their catering, I'd say. I've flown with them a few times, and I don't think I've had a memorable meal. I've also had those powdery eggs before! Conversely, I've only heard good things about the catering from Singapore Airlines. I haven't flown Singapore Airlines in over 20 years, but I have flown with them before and they are generally excellent.
    My personal airline of choice, though, is Cathay Pacific, although word is they've gone backwards with their standards in the last few years since I've flown with them.

    Good to see you back. I've flown Qantas to Europe at least 3 times and Singapore Air about 8 so what does that tell you? 😂 I also love Changi airport. Tip for sleeping on planes. Neck cushion os essential! If yr neck is holding yr head up, how will you sleep? Eyemask ✔️ Earplugs✔️

    • @CharlieandRob
      @CharlieandRob  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried those things last year without success. Its hard to switch off on a long flight.

    • @travelgirl747
      @travelgirl747 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @CharlieandRob ok, all that means is yr not relaxed. You can't relax if your neck has any tension at all. Concentrate on it. Use an inflatable neck pillow and keep taking air out until you can drop yr head sideways, and it acts like a pillow. You should have no control of your neck at all. It's an artform! 😂Earplugs in, block everything out, and if you truly relaxed you WILL fall asleep. Also, take some Panadol. Never take Sleepers, its an unnatural sleep, but Panadol knocks me out. It's worth a shot.

For my international flights, I’ll be using Air New Zealand since they fly non stop New Zealand to Chicago where I live. When I get on a long haul flight I immediately set my watch to the time at my destination. Looking forward to other clogs from you to see what you visit in Australia!

      So glad to hear you're visiting Western Australia in 2025. How long are you here for? It's a huge state with lots to see but a lot of space in between. I finally got to The Kimberley in the north west earlier this year even though I've lived here more than half my life. Even if you don't get there look online at Broome, the Bungle Bungles and Horizontal Falls although there's a lot more to it. The south west of the state has a lot to offer too. Enjoy your time here. 😊

    For us in Singapore, taking SQ even for economy class is an upgrade from any other airlines's economy class. The one thing that seldom fails flying with SQ is the help you can get when you ask for something from the cabin crew, they are always willing to help and assist with a positive attitude. I once flew a long haul overnight flight and I just couldn't sleep. Every 30 mins I will ask for a drink and not once the crew shows any hint of annoyance. He even invite me to come to the galary to select a range of snack if I ever feel hungry.

If you ever travel to within Asia, you will find that hotels that don't offer a 'Western style' breakfast only offer things like noodles, rice, etc. Edited to Add: South East Asia and China. We went out on the first flight to Singapore and had a 3 hour lay over in Singapore before heading to Perth.We were lucky to go business class, having saved out for 3 years, never flown business before. For us the best experience was on the Singapore to Perth section as it was a more modern plane, mind you I was asleep for most of it. Last time I flew that route on Singapore Airlines, I took the late evening flight. They served food and drinks at the start, then turned off all the lights for most of the flight and only turned them back on for the last hour and second meal service.
    I never sleep on planes, so I just read and watched the videos the whole time. I went up to the galley to chat with the flight attendants and get a drink and a snack a couple of times during the flight while almost everyone else slept.

    Rob, when you got to Oz, you likely saw that Qantas is probably the most hated company/airline in the country. That Irish stooge Alan Joyce has destroyed any credibility the company had. I would never fly Qantas.....as an Aussie, I'm ashamed of them. BTW.....welcome back to Oz....and Rob, our Swans didn't do too well last week but at least they made the finals whereas Geelong didn't.

    A likely answer answer to the lack of in flight Cider. Seems airlines just responding to the demand from their customers on their routes.
    I get the feeling Cider consumption is just a tiny minority drink apart from the South West of England and even then diminishing the further away you get from Devon.
    Fuel cost of transporting the weight of unused Cider cans around the world might have been a calculation done by them.
    You cant always get what you want.

    If you go to Rotto tomorrow do not hire a bike. There’s a bus service that goes round the island, you can hop on and off at all the bays, they come every 15 to 30 minutes. Take drinks and snacks. You’ll cover a lot more ground and not get a sore a*se.
    I’m a cyclist and would not get a bike for a day trip.
