It genuinely breaks my heart when I see people do this to you, as I see first hand how much commends affect you. It also pains me to see people tell you that you're not being real, or to go back to how you used to be, as I see the real you every day and you project that version of yourself through your videos. No one should ever critique anyone's personality, especially if they don't know them personally. If you don't like what someone is doing just unsubscribe or skip the videos you don't want to watch. People's shadiness amazes me sometimes! x

Can I just say, that I absolutely adore you Jamie. I love your personality, you are quiet, you are shy, and you are perfect. You are the kind of person I would become immediate friends with in the real world (and that is rare, because I don't have many). You're like this precious star that is so unique and wonderful. I genuinely can't say that I look up to any bigger youtubers, but I do with you, I admire you for YOU. You became a role model to me through your art, you constantly amaze me and make me want to do better with my own art. But the more I got to know you through your videos, the more you became a role model as a human being too. Don't ever change who you are for anybody but yourself, you're wonderful. :)
Unfortunately, the more subscribers you have the more dislikes you'll receive. Just remember all of the people who enjoy watching your videos :) Also no one has the right to critique your personality, as none of us see you everyday or know you very well, you know who you are & what's truly in your heart. One last thing - I would choose to take people saying I was too sensitive as a compliment - as sensitive people are usually the most compassionate, kind, loving, empathetic & loving :) which are all wonderful things!

I definitely know what you mean in terms of youtube community vs general public. The comments you tend to get from those two groups are a world apart. I'm sorry people are giving you such a hard time. You're honestly one of my favourite people to watch on TH-cam because I love your content AND your personality. "I want to make good quality videos so I can make friends." I relate to that statement SO much. As someone who only started TH-cam in February of this year, I'm still struggling to get off the ground, but people like you keep me inspired and motivated that I can one day get to your level and be a friend to you in real life

I'm so glad social media wasn't around when I was young, I'm not sure how I would have handled it. I like to think the best in people, but sometimes its hard seeing some of the comments. I once dated a guy who spent most of his time putting everyone down, guess it made him feel better about himself. Unfortunately, anyone can comment, no matter who they are or how old they are. I don't understand the purpose of a dislike button, since anyone can hit it with zero consequence to them. YT should have a star rating system, it would give you a better idea of what videos people enjoy most!
You can be sensitive all you want Jamie and we'll still love you! It was extremely rude for that person to critique you on your personality when it's true none of us know you completely only what you allow us to see. I'm glad you're working on your confidence and I know it can be difficult but you have Tom by your side to lift you up and all your subscribers who understand what you're really about. I don't find you being "mean", "rude" or "hateful" when you make these types of videos. You're a human being, with emotions and feelings. You're allowed to share those, that's not 'wrong' of you to do. Also, I think when you make these types of videos - you're standing up for yourself. I'm also a very shy person, and I constantly find myself playing a "character". So when I do finally say that something is upsetting or hurting me, I'm very proud of myself because I know I'm doing a healthy thing. You're on a journey to discover yourself, just keep that in mind. You're finding you're true self, and that's all that matters. People don't like change; that's what I go out of this video. People don't like that you're changing and that you're not a "cookie-cutter" TH-camr - and that's OKAY. But what's even more okay is that you're being you. That's all that really matters. Don't slow down the process of you because of others. You live your life for yourself. Not for random people that you don't really know. Just be you darlin', because you are GREAT!
I get what you mean about anxiety around TH-cam. I am a tiny, little tadpole in a huge ocean but I'm quiet scared about my channel growing too much because of them being restricted by some sort of niche. But then again, like you, of course I always want to to better. And btw, I think you are the loveliest gem of person and any other creator should be honoured if you were to collab with them!
Don't think that we judge you or have expectations about you or your videos, I don't know you personally ( I wish I did) but I think you do an amazingly wonderfully job and a very talented person and I will ALWAYS support you. You are a big inspiration for me. Never forget that.
Something I've learned from people is that no matter who you are or what you do or don't do there will ALWAYS be someone who doesn't approve. You just have to remember that they don't matter, the only opinion that matters, is YOURS. Be you, do whatever you want, be who you are. Don't let people be your only reason to be happy (and trust me, I had to learn that the hard way). I'm a very shy person, too, not to the point you are, but I'm extremely awkward and quiet, I don't have any friends where I live because everyone thinks I'm boring. I literally have people stop texting me once they meet me because they think I'm boring. You just have to realize that the good people/comments/etc. matter way more than the bad ones and that there are people (like me) who support you.

I want to talk about your " Sorry About Vlogmas " video. Whatever happened the first day you missed. We all love you so much and we'll always be there for you. I feel horrible that you fainted, you're such an amazing person, things like that shouldn't happen to you. Being apart of a huge disney community, you will have to be at certain events. As someone who has been watching your videos for ages, it's so obvious to tell you are one of the most genuine people on TH-cam. Aww Jamie, it's horrible how TH-camrs are expected to just put up with such high levels of scrutiny- it's really not anyone's place to judge you for 'who you are'. I've personally been on TH-cam for a long time even if I didn't have a channel back then and I've also seen a change in TH-cam with it's sudden popularity and the general public changing the community feel of TH-cam. I subscribed to you because you seem like a lovely, talented, person who really makes me smile every time a video shows on my feed and I immediately click it. Whether it's a vlog or an art video I don't mind because I subscribed to see more of you as a person, and sometimes it doesn't matter is the content is what I originally saw when finding your channel because if it's coming from you I know it's got to be good! I just love your personality, please don't let people get you down for being yourself. i recognize myself in you more than i do with any other youtbe, im verrry shy, never go out, cant talk normally around others.. and i honestly have to say, that it is a dangerous choice to do youtube... being in the public eye is the worst kind of thing you can do to yourself if youre self conscious and dont pull it off right, BUT i think you do!! You have a lot of things even the meanest people have to respect you for, which is your art and your awesomeness & niceness & personality. i think you CAN use it as a way to get more confidence (and also as a career option) but it will be far more harsh but once youre over it, youre over all the hate and might be able to handle it in a few years very well OR it might break you and will leave you more frightened of people than before.. i personally had to do small steps.. being forced to speak in front class only made it worse, i didnt "train", i didnt get more confident by making a fool of myself, it only got better once i was out of school and made SMALLER steps but idk thats just me.. You are making fantastic videos, it is just, the bigger you grow the more you have to ask yourself, can i show weakness on camera if the backlash will harm me? can i let them see my every improvement or do i need to put a character on to protect myself... Really only you can know what will be good for you. im proud that you allow to be yourself more nowadays...Just be careful, *dont take the mean comments to your heart!* and keep on doing your awesome videos! in a year every news article might be complimenting you for sticking through it and being an "influencer" with actual talent! :)

I like your personality! I don't really see, nor understand why somebody thinks that it's okay to tell you how to improve your self, there's nothing that you need to improve on , your being yourself and that's what makes you..You! I really enjoy watching your videos, I have multiple illnesses and find myself in the hospital a lot, so that's when I tend to watch a lot of your videos at once. They are short bursts of happiness that make me feel happy and, even if just for a few minutes take me mind off of what's going on around me! Even on your more serious videos, you always put your self across so well, and are able to make people really think. I am so sorry people don't respect who you are as a person, Jamie. I honestly adore you, the real you, any version of you that you want to share with us. I lost so much enthusiasm for my art and because of your videos I've built up my love for it all over again and now I'm having so many lovely comments about my art because of the helpful videos you create. I've just finished my 22nd drawing of Phil Lester (this makes me sound so strange but Phil just has a really lovely face to draw??) and I compared them all and you can honestly see the gradual increase in their realism of them from when I started watching your videos and because of your videos I am extremely satisfied with the way my artwork comes out. I've started a rough outline of a drawing of you at the moment but I'm a bit unsure as to tag you in it via twitter when it's finished because even though I am much happier with the work I produce, it's seriously nothing compared to your talents! I'm really hoping to get to meet you at SITC next year if you go so I can thank you personally as you really do make me smile, I have social anxiety so I'm terrified over the prospect of sitc and how to deal with that there but I've bought the weekend ticket now so I guess there's nothing more I can do! I have never understood why people have to dislike videos, that seems so weird to me... I think you're awesome, I looove your art and you seem like a really nice person! And I don't think being shy or introverted is necessarily a bad thing, the society just wants us to think that, but I don't think there's anything wrong with not being super outgoing. We're all different and some people are really outgoing and some are not, and it's ok to be either, just be who you are and don't feel pressured to be anything else :) I have always been really shy, and being around people and them expecting me to be outgoing is difficult, because I don't know how to do that because that's not me, I don't feel like myself when I have to do that, but if I don't, everyone thinks I'm weird or that there's something wrong with me and it sucks :l

The unfortunate thing about putting yourself out there and being in the public eye is that the more popular you become, the more people will dislike you. You kinda just have to not take it personally. Of course, I'm not talking from personal experience, I'm talking from what I've seen with other people. It doesn't matter how talented you are or how nice you are, there's always going to be someone who will dislike you just for the sake of disliking you. I can honestly say that I'm sorry that there are people like than in the world, and I wish that nobody had to deal with it but unfortunately it's just life. There are mean people in the world and there always will be, the only thing I can say is to focus on the positives. There are SO many people who love and admire you. I know that it's hard when you see mean things being said about you, especially when the things they say are not true facts, but you just have to try to ignore those people.

I just wanted to tell you that I LOVE every single one of your videos. I've been a subscriber to you for about 2 and a half years now and you have been such a big inspiration to me. (I do art......I guess that's how you would put it :). I am so grateful for all of the wonderful videos you have spent SO MUCH time and effort to put together for people like me. Not to mention you're crazy talented too. :) And when I watch videos like these, you remind me a lot of myself. ( I know that's really hard to say because I've never met you in person or anything like that, but just going by the things you say.) I used to be extremely shy, and although it has lessened since I went to middle school I still am pretty shy now. Whenever my picture is being taken or I've been asked to film a video with a friend for their youtube channel I just freeze up. I even have trouble sitting in class because I feel like I'm constantly being watched and judged. So this is when "playing a character" comes in. When you said that, I felt like I could really relate to it. I'm so afraid of being judged for who I really am so I play characters. And by the way, hopefully this doesn't sound like a "have pity on me" kind of comment, I've been able to break out of my shell enough to get some really great friends and I am also really grateful for my close family because I'm not shy around them. and now I'm just rambling... (side comment: I'm fine with just living in my little anime worlds, anyways ^__^ also another reason why I like drawing, I don't have to do anything social. Even though I really like being with people because people are amazing and fascinating, I just can't do conversations. hm..that's a bit ironic) By the way, sort of relevant, have you seen the latest studio ghibli movie, "When Marnie Was There"? That was great. So anyways, another thing I wanted to tell you (If you do ever happen to read this comment) is that I'm really sensitive too. You being genuine is something I think all of your real fans and viewers can appreciate :] and you said, back then, you used to play a character, honestly, I really believe that MOST big TH-camrs play a "character" because that's how they come across as entertaining. And then you suddenly get a video of them like breaking down and saying they don't know who they are anymore and stuff of that sort. I think it's good you're not doing that anymore, you may not be extremely confident, but at least you know who you are way more that those people might. That's really awesome. It's really stupid that someone you don't know can feel they have the knowledge and the right to "critique" your personality, how can you critique who someone is?! It genuinely breaks my heart when I see people do this to you, as I see first hand how much commends affect you. It also pains me to see people tell you that you're not being real, or to go back to how you used to be, as I see the real you every day and you project that version of yourself through your videos.

You are the kind of person I would become immediate friends with in the real world (and that is rare, because I don't have many). You're like this precious star that is so unique and wonderful. I genuinely can't say that I look up to any bigger youtubers, but I do with you, I admire you for YOU. You became a role model to me through your art, you constantly amaze me and make me want to do better with my own art. I'm so glad social media wasn't around when I was young, I'm not sure how I would have handled it. I like to think the best in people, but sometimes its hard seeing some of the comments. I once dated a guy who spent most of his time putting everyone down, guess it made him feel better about himself. Unfortunately, anyone can comment, no matter who they are or how old they are.
I don't understand the purpose of a dislike button, since anyone can hit it with zero consequence to them. YT should have a star rating system, it would give you a better idea of what videos people enjoy most!
You can be sensitive all you want Jamie and we'll still love you! It was extremely rude for that person to critique you on your personality when it's true none of us know you completely only what you allow us to see. I'm glad you're working on your confidence and I know it can be difficult but you have Tom by your side to lift you up and all your subscribers who understand what you're really about. I don't find you being "mean", "rude" or "hateful" when you make these types of videos. You're a human being, with emotions and feelings. You're allowed to share those, that's not 'wrong' of you to do.
Also, I think when you make these types of videos - you're standing up for yourself. I'm also a very shy person, and I constantly find myself playing a "character". So when I do finally say that something is upsetting or hurting me, I'm very proud of myself because I know I'm doing a healthy thing.
You're on a journey to discover yourself, just keep that in mind. You're finding you're true self, and that's all that matters.
People don't like change; that's what I go out of this video. People don't like that you're changing and that you're not a "cookie-cutter" TH-camr - and that's OKAY. But what's even more okay is that you're being you. That's all that really matters.
Don't slow down the process of you because of others. You live your life for yourself. Not for random people that you don't really know.

I get what you mean about anxiety around TH-cam. I am a tiny, little tadpole in a huge ocean but I'm quiet scared about my channel growing too much because of them being restricted by some sort of niche. But then again, like you, of course I always want to to better.
And btw, I think you are the loveliest gem of person and any other creator should be honoured if you were to collab with them!
Don't think that we judge you or have expectations about you or your videos, I don't know you personally ( I wish I did) but I think you do an amazingly wonderfully job and a very talented person and I will ALWAYS support you. You are a big inspiration for me. Never forget that.
Something I've learned from people is that no matter who you are or what you do or don't do there will ALWAYS be someone who doesn't approve. You just have to remember that they don't matter, the only opinion that matters, is YOURS. Be you, do whatever you want, be who you are. Don't let people be your only reason to be happy (and trust me, I had to learn that the hard way). I'm a very shy person, too, not to the point you are, but I'm extremely awkward and quiet, I don't have any friends where I live because everyone thinks I'm boring. I literally have people stop texting me once they meet me because they think I'm boring. You just have to realize that the good people/comments/etc. matter way more than the bad ones and that there are people (like me) who support you.

I want to talk about your " Sorry About Vlogmas " video. Whatever happened the first day you missed. We all love you so much and we'll always be there for you. I feel horrible that you fainted, you're such an amazing person, things like that shouldn't happen to you. Being apart of a huge disney community, you will have to be at certain events. But that's all part of the glory of being apart of such an amazing community, and being sick honestly sucks quiet a lot. But things happen sometimes that you can't fix.

I also want to talk about your wedding. The things you did to make it absolutely perfect was insane. Your wedding should be a happy relaxed day. Aww Jamie, it's horrible how TH-camrs are expected to just put up with such high levels of scrutiny- it's really not anyone's place to judge you for 'who you are'. I've personally been on TH-cam for a long time even if I didn't have a channel back then and I've also seen a change in TH-cam with it's sudden popularity and the general public changing the community feel of TH-cam. I subscribed to you because you seem like a lovely, talented, person who really makes me smile every time a video shows on my feed and I immediately click it.
Whether it's a vlog or an art video I don't mind because I subscribed to see more of you as a person, and sometimes it doesn't matter is the content is what I originally saw when finding your channel because if it's coming from you I know it's got to be good! I just love your personality, please don't let people get you down for being yourself. I know it's not my place to say that, and I can understand or at least imagine how horrible it must be to get so much hate, but remember at least that there are people out there who really enjoy watching your videos and you make people like us feel a little better every day.

i recognize myself in you more than i do with any other youtbe, im verrry shy, never go out, cant talk normally around others..
and i honestly have to say, that it is a dangerous choice to do youtube... being in the public eye is the worst kind of thing you can do to yourself if youre self conscious and dont pull it off right, BUT i think you do!! You have a lot of things even the meanest people have to respect you for, which is your art and your awesomeness & niceness & personality.
i think you CAN use it as a way to get more confidence (and also as a career option) but it will be far more harsh but once youre over it, youre over all the hate and might be able to handle it in a few years very well OR it might break you and will leave you more frightened of people than before..
i personally had to do small steps.. being forced to speak in front class only made it worse, i didnt "train", i didnt get more confident by making a fool of myself, it only got better once i was out of school and made SMALLER steps but idk thats just me..
You are making fantastic videos, it is just, the bigger you grow the more you have to ask yourself, can i show weakness on camera if the backlash will harm me? can i let them see my every improvement or do i need to put a character on to protect myself...

I really enjoy watching your videos, I have multiple illnesses and find myself in the hospital a lot, so that's when I tend to watch a lot of your videos at once. They are short bursts of happiness that make me feel happy and, even if just for a few minutes take me mind off of what's going on around me! Even on your more serious videos, you always put your self across so well, and are able to make people really think.

I am so sorry people don't respect who you are as a person, Jamie. I honestly adore you, the real you, any version of you that you want to share with us. I lost so much enthusiasm for my art and because of your videos I've built up my love for it all over again and now I'm having so many lovely comments about my art because of the helpful videos you create. I've just finished my 22nd drawing of Phil Lester (this makes me sound so strange but Phil just has a really lovely face to draw??) and I compared them all and you can honestly see the gradual increase in their realism of them from when I started watching your videos and because of your videos I am extremely satisfied with the way my artwork comes out. I've started a rough outline of a drawing of you at the moment but I'm a bit unsure as to tag you in it via twitter when it's finished because even though I am much happier with the work I produce, it's seriously nothing compared to your talents! I have never understood why people have to dislike videos, that seems so weird to me... I think you're awesome, I looove your art and you seem like a really nice person! And I don't think being shy or introverted is necessarily a bad thing, the society just wants us to think that, but I don't think there's anything wrong with not being super outgoing. We're all different and some people are really outgoing and some are not, and it's ok to be either, just be who you are and don't feel pressured to be anything else :) I have always been really shy, and being around people and them expecting me to be outgoing is difficult, because I don't know how to do that because that's not me, I don't feel like myself when I have to do that, but if I don't, everyone thinks I'm weird or that there's something wrong with me and it sucks :l

The unfortunate thing about putting yourself out there and being in the public eye is that the more popular you become, the more people will dislike you. You kinda just have to not take it personally. Of course, I'm not talking from personal experience, I'm talking from what I've seen with other people. It doesn't matter how talented you are or how nice you are, there's always going to be someone who will dislike you just for the sake of disliking you. I can honestly say that I'm sorry that there are people like than in the world, and I wish that nobody had to deal with it but unfortunately it's just life. There are mean people in the world and there always will be, the only thing I can say is to focus on the positives. There are SO many people who love and admire you. I know that it's hard when you see mean things being said about you, especially when the things they say are not true facts, but you just have to try to ignore those people.

I know what it's like to have artwork critiqued but I can't imagine having my personality attacked or that much hate mail. You are a wonderful person and don't let anyone tell you how to live your life you just keep doing you and try to only pay attention to the positives comments. :)

Yeah I wouldn't pay any attention to hate if someone's going to go out of their way to make you feel bad then I'd say the problem lies with them and not you. Also I think being sensitive and having emotions is normal I'd be worried if you didn't! 😉❤

I just wanted to tell you that I LOVE every single one of your videos. I've been a subscriber to you for about 2 and a half years now and you have been such a big inspiration to me. (I do art......I guess that's how you would put it :). I am so grateful for all of the wonderful videos you have spent SO MUCH time and effort to put together for people like me. Not to mention you're crazy talented too. :) And when I watch videos like these, you remind me a lot of myself. ( I know that's really hard to say because I've never met you in person or anything like that, but just going by the things you say.) I used to be extremely shy, and although it has lessened since I went to middle school I still am pretty shy now. Whenever my picture is being taken or I've been asked to film a video with a friend for their youtube channel I just freeze up. I even have trouble sitting in class because I feel like I'm constantly being watched and judged. So this is when "playing a character" comes in. When you said that, I felt like I could really relate to it. I'm so afraid of being judged for who I really am so I play characters. And by the way, hopefully this doesn't sound like a "have pity on me" kind of comment, I've been able to break out of my shell enough to get some really great friends and I am also really grateful for my close family because I'm not shy around them. and now I'm just rambling... (side comment: I'm fine with just living in my little anime worlds, anyways ^__^ also another reason why I like drawing, I don't have to do anything social. Even though I really like being with people because people are amazing and fascinating, I just can't do conversations. hm..that's a bit ironic) By the way, sort of relevant, have you seen the latest studio ghibli movie, "When Marnie Was There"? That was great. So anyways, another thing I wanted to tell you (If you do ever happen to read this comment) is that I'm really sensitive too. I can take constructive criticism but any negative criticism I've had trouble in the past letting go. (side comment #2: Have you ever read the book "Tuesdays With Morrie"? That is a FANTASTIC book that is sort of relevant to whatever thoughts in my head that I am attempting to express in this comment. (kind of. maybe. I guess.)) Well, anyways, sorry this comment is so long!! I don't even know if it made any sense. And I'm still just a teenager so I've got a lot of things to learn... (I really don't know anything about anything) But I know you are a real person, not just putting on an act for the public like some reality TV show and I think you're very brave to put some of your thoughts out on the internet like this. You being genuine is something I think all of your real fans and viewers can appreciate :] and you said, back then, you used to play a character, honestly, I really believe that MOST big TH-camrs play a "character" because that's how they come across as entertaining. And then you suddenly get a video of them like breaking down and saying they don't know who they are anymore and stuff of that sort. I think it's good you're not doing that anymore, you may not be extremely confident, but at least you know who you are way more that those people might. That's really awesome.
It's really stupid that someone you don't know can feel they have the knowledge and the right to "critique" your personality, how can you critique who someone is?!

The fact that you keep making content (which I DO love btw) after reading all this crappy stuff is pretty damn inspiring. Even though it feels horrible, people now have a better understanding and though you are strong enough to pull through.. you now have a stronger... more empathetic group of people who WILL back you up
