      yeah, but there's not a lot to organize, ey?

      If you can be organized you can ride faster- right? it's helpful to know exactly where everything is for quick action when you need to make it.

      @@Sergio_Math Howdy!! I unfortunately won't be making it to Transcordilleras this year. I am racing Atlas Mountain Race in Morocco at the same time of the year. Have fun!!!! It's a great event.

    Certainly travelling light which is the way to go. Did you not take any sleeping kit or just confident you would not need to sleep? I’m thinking of just taking pillow and a down jacket to Power Nap when needed.

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was confident I would not be sleeping for more than a short 5-10 minute nap so I did not bring any sleep kit. not even a pillow (that's what your helmet is for...) I always race with a down jacket for safety. You could do the same thing but just choose to sleep in a hotel.

    Awesome rundown! Thank you. Fellow production person here - I carry a length of 2” gaff tape folded up.

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  ปีที่แล้ว

      I need to add some gaff tape to my kit list. I meant to grab it but you know when the to-do list is 5 pages long sometimes things get forgotten!!!

    • @Techwonderland

      @@wattwagon So many things to remember… You could have taped the battery to your helmet though🤣. Tire boot, anything loose/flapping, etc. Awesome win though. Congratulations!!

    You're already a legend to my little girls. Thank you for motivating my children to cycle. They want to see every race you start. How did you attach the headlamp to the helmet? It looks like it was glued directly to the helmet.

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow so awesome to hear this!!! Glad to help get more girlies out on bikes!
      I will make a video sometime on that headlight- i get a lot of inquiries on it. I use a piece of 3M take from amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B07PHK4MVY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

    • @radicalvox8770
      @radicalvox8770 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wattwagon I also glued the headlight on and secured it with velcro cable ties. When I don't need it, it's covered with a white microfiber cloth secured with rubber bands. This protects the lamp from the sun, so it lasts significantly longer. Ok, it doesn't look super professional anymore, but it serves its purpose. A tailor-made bag would be better here. Are any of you good at sewing? anyone there? 😉

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@radicalvox8770 😂😂 I actually take the light off of my helmet when I'm not using it. OR better yet, I have two helmets so one is just for night time riding/ultra racing.

    How did you attach the Fenix light to the helmet? Just Double sided tape? Regards from Germany

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      howdy! thanks for watching! the fenix light is attached with 3M tape I found on amazon. the light isn't heavy so the tape easily holds it.

    The sleeve on the CO2 is to keep your fingers from freezing to it when you use it. If you don't have a sleeve grab anything you can (piece of cloth, gel wrapper...) and use it to put a barrier between the metal and your skin. Worst case scenario is if you or it is wet or sweaty. You'll instantly and painfully glue yourself to that CO2 and be stuck there for several minutes while your competition rides by. It's really hard to ride when you have a frozen stinging ball of metal in the palm of your hand.

    Great vid Cynthia, very organised. Is the frame bag the race apidura 4L? The bladder is suggested with the expedition but I guess it doesn’t matter as long as it fits 😂
    Well done on AMR

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i am sneaky and put the 1.5L in the 4L frame bag, they don't suggest it but it works for me so i do it!

    In addition to the 3 water bottles, did you have any other way of bringing water like a hydration vest? How many liters of water did you bring in total? Thanks in advance 🙂

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't love to use a hydro vest. That many hours with that much weight on my back is irritating! I have a foldable mussette bag from apidura that I occasionally use to carry a 1L bottle for the sections where there will be limited water supply!

    Is there a specific reason why you don't use a dynamo hub? Personally, I only have experience of ultra distance road cycling events and races. There the dynamo hub saves a lot of time from charging. I just put the Badlands 2024 application in and hopefully there will be the first gravel event ahead.

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I really like a light on my helmet. Time and time again I ride with a dynamo and never really use it if I have a head lamp. It’s a great feature for charging things! But if the race is short enough (45.5 hours at badlands this year for me) then I carry spare battery packs. Anything longer than 60 hours I’d consider bringing a dynamo!
      Good luck 🍀 hopefully you get in!!!

      I haven't found a specific brand other than what my ophthalmologist prescribed. I use dailies from this brand called eureka. They seem to do a good job.
