  • In this week's sewing tutorial I teach you how easy it is to make a hooded towel for your kids. These hooded towels are all the rage and can cost upwards of $30 US in the stores. You can make one for a few dollars and decorate it with any fabric you want. It's a great project to give as a gift for baby showers or for young children's birthdays. This is a great beginner project! Make these hooded towels for your kids or give them as gifts to family and friends.
    To make this Hoodie Towel you only need a few supplies:
    -bath towel
    -2 pieces of towel cut to 10"-14" square (depending on age of child)
    -2" wide strip of coordinating fabric
    -coordinating thread
    -some pins
    -rotary cutter and mat
    -rulers
    -marking device (chalk, etc.)

    Thank you I love that you curved the top of the hood, I am not a fan of the pointed hood. So cute!!

    Vanessa thanks for your wonderful tutorials. I just finished this hooded towel one for my granddaughter that my son requested. It was so easy. I bought a very plush towel for less than regular terry cloth in the fabric store. Thanks again for all your tutorials.

    This is my go to video for making Baby shower gifts. I do not make them very often so I need your video to remind me how to make them. This video is how I came to find you a few years ago!!! You have been such a blessing to me and taught me so many new things about sewing, cooking, soaping and taking care of myself by eating better!!!

    I made two of these - one for each of my grandchildren, an they're absolutely adorable! I used some towels that I already had on hand, so it really didn't cost me anything. Thanks for a great tutorial, as always!

    I made this today with fuschia bath towel and pink wash cloths. I trimmed hood with eyelet lace and it came out so cute. Did some fancy stitching (thanks Viking sewing machine) attaching lace to hood. So easy!

    Love your tutorials. They are always so very easy to follow. I searched for hooded towel instructions and your video was by far the easiest to follow. I also learned how to make wristlets from watching your tutorials. So I just wanted to say thanks.

    Thanks for this! Only thing I did different was sew the cut edge of the smaller towel to the big towel so i didn’t need to do the trim, just use the existing finished edge and was done.

    Really like the rounded hood versus those pointed ones I see in some other tutorials. Also, I use one of those bias binding gadgets that automatically folds the binding for me -- easier on my arthritic hands! Thanks for a great tutorial!

    If you have a serger (or overlocker) you can use that to keep the edges from fraying. Otherwise, try zig zagging down the raw edges.

    Do you think your hood measurements for an older child are big enough for an adult?

  • @suzannelee3215
    @suzannelee3215 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    for anyone sewing in cm's 10 inches converts to 25.4cm

    • @suzannelee3215
      @suzannelee3215 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      also the material accent strip is a touch over 5cm, length is of course the length of your hood.
