    Mate you never pack a Bergen without having your kit in water proof bags so if your stuffing a sleeping bag in your Bergen without it being in a water proof bag then you are asking for trouble in wet weather

      I use a waterproof Bergen cover, that helps. But I also put my sleeping bag inside my goretex bivvy bag when using one. Not a fan of stuff/compression sacks personally, but we’ve all got different opinions. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

      @@guerrillashadowman mate if you served I’m my regiment and didn’t waterproof everything you’d get a big NCO giving you a slap for being a twat

      @@guerrillashadowman Hi.I do the same.
      Makes more sense and takes up less room than individual stuff sacks.👍🏾🇬🇧

      @@guerrillashadowmanSame mate i went on a 2 day camping trip amd it was hammering it down with a 16 mile tab to where we was camping a bergen cover sorted it, and everything is inside the bivvi bag anyway so its all good

    Hi.
    I’ve had one of these now for just under a year. Bought it brand new, still wrapped, for £90.00. Bought the side pouches separate for £75.00 for the pair.
    I have used it for wild camping from Cornwall to the Lake District .
    It’s a very good burgun, and pretty comfortable.
    Loads of kit can be carried in it, if you want to.
    I find that the shoulder straps could do with being a couple of inches shorter, as once it’s on your back, and you pull the top loaded bearing straps Tomas short as you can, there still seems to be a biggish gap between the top of your shoulders and the pack, where really, I would have like a closer fit.
    All the best.🇬🇧

      Yes I know what you mean, better than older packs but still got a few things to improve. Thanks for watching 🇬🇧👍

      @@guerrillashadowmanIt’s really designed to be used with the DWD bionic spine system.

    Thank you for the review. I like to stuff my bag into a good quality dry sack, can really compress it down as well.

    I have never seen a pack with so much molle, very handy design, i have the dpm woodland u can get in the us for about 60 dollars. seems in surplus, when the camo pattern changes, gear with same pattern goes on the market, which is fine by me. I cut a plastic sheet to fill the bottom out like a stiffener. Great walk through on the pack.

    After using this 12 months on u have changed my mind on this bag , it's tough and durable I have mine coupled with 2 , 17 litre assualt packs with the virtus bladder on one side it's a great bag , although I'm not using the GU but opted for the 2015 issue I've used all over the country ,bI've combined this bag with the gen 4 genuine jayjays commanders pouch i also have invested in the 40 litre day bag and the 45 litre commanders pack which are also great to have I highly recommend virtus , soldiers have complained about the virtus system but today's soldiers complain about everything not matter how good the kit nothings perfect gone are the days when squadies had to make do with what they were given

      How do you go about storing your day sack?
      The topflap looks very small.

    • @guerrillashadowman
      @guerrillashadowman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jbjacquet I tend to use the 2 side pouches as a day sack on a plce yoke, so the yoke will fit easily into the hood or a side pouch

    Great video and new sub. Have you ever used the British army issue pack covers. Just wanting to find a opinion on how or if they are really waterproof

    • @guerrillashadowman
      @guerrillashadowman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi thanks so much for the sub 👍 I’ve got one issue pack cover but don’t remember ever using it in the rain, so to be honest I can’t say for sure. I tend to use civilian covers these days as when in public I like to tone down the camo and look a little less military.

      Thanks, I like to maintain a low profile online and in life in general. Also it fits with the grey man/ Shadowman hiding in plain sight theory. And it’s just part of my particular brand of stealthy wild camping etc. 👍🏻🇬🇧

    Hi, what about Back Length adjustment?
    I'm 202 height and most backpacks are short for me. I have TT Range Pack Mk2 and use it straps on highest position and it is cool, but I need another one backpack like this Bergen.

    • @guerrillashadowman
      @guerrillashadowman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aside from the shoulder strap adjustment there is no back adjustment. This is because the Bergen was designed to use a DWD dynamic weight distribution system. That is basically a thing that raises and lowers the bergen with a hand pump, I don’t have that DWD unfortunately, so without that it’s a fixed back length. Pretty sure the DWD only worked when using it with a webbing belt anyway so yes not perfect, and it is short, much like the old plce short back bergen.
