Spot on with descriptions of Extel, and the boardman. Proper atmosphere back then, as opposed to zero now. Course bookmakers and independents have my full respect, but not the corporates!
Simon Holt a fine gentleman as well as an excellent commentator, very lucky to stumble across these interviews and just wish he'd have been at the right place and the right time to call one of my horses home in front (where's reiley placed at brighton and soapy stevens 4th at glorious goodwood the best i think)
Would have been in the "best mate" enclosure the same day as Simon in '74. 3 quid on captain christy 7/1...12 years old and felt like a millionaire. Had 2 quid on true song in the county hurdle 14/1 and gave half to my grandparents who brought me. Think attivo won the triumph that day and terry biddlecomes last ride was amarind who had run 2 days previously in the champion chase...those were the days!👏
U can keep your Cheltenham festival! The best part of the jumps season is Christmas time + the races leading to Xmas imo. There's so much more than Cheltenham. This year's festival proved that!
Willie Mullins made the season taken his team all over the uk at the end. Still too much racing in uk and until it’s addressed Mullins will continue to rule. Cheltenham have out priced themselves and I’m glad the people spoke this year. 8 quid a Guinness and 10 quid a beer no thanks
Love listening to Simon. Definitely one of my favourite interviews. Such a shame he isn't on ITV

Great interview simon👍
Magical Days
Good interview. Happiness over money every day of the week and three times on a Sunday.

For Red Rum to win the National 3 times in those days becomes more and more a miraculous achievement each year the fences get safer and safer.
Top commentator!
