    My favorite thing to do when I need help with my XH2S is to watch Maarten's videos. There's something about the tone and quality of these videos that makes everything so easy to understand... Honestly, I think Maarten would be an excellent teacher if he chooses to go down that path haha!

    Thanks Maarten - I've been waiting to see updates on V3.00 so this is very helpful. I think your section on 'following specific people in a busy crowd' is of real interest to all of us who'd like to use the X-H2s for field sports. This is most likely the player with the ball and there are players passing between the lens and the subject all the time. Very interesting to see it still doesn't always stay with the subject - and this this a critical point when shooting sports action. I have do doubt it can track trains and lone cyclists - there's nothing really to distract the system - this is easy. It's when there is interference with the Subject in the foreground or background that the AF-C really has to work. I have found that generally speaking, AF-C Setting 2 with 3x3 Zone works best in this scenario - I'd be really interested to see if you percieve any difference in tracking a specific individual using 3x3 zone. I think you'd need to be tracking humans in a chaotic scene - your Brio train is too pedestrian to offer a realistic performance test for sports action. Thanks again for updating us - the X-H2s is a big chunk of change to spend and I'm sure many people want more confidence that the AF-C is actually a concrete upgrade before investing (My personal experience with the X-H2s was that is was not significantly better for sports action vs X-T3 in A-FC when first launched....so this update is very interesting.)

    I must admit I'm totally knocked out at the AF improvements of these latest firmware updates.
    This is a knockout video camera, with a spectacular video image, arguably the very best Log codec in the business, and those inimitable film simulations.
    I have to admit I loved the X-H1, and used it to shoot video for several years, but the Stabilization and AF issues caused me to finally give up, but all the while I was using other cameras I waited expectantly for an XH2...never imagining that Xh2S.
    Now, I'm in a bind. I have two video cameras I absolutely love, the Panasonic S5IIX and the XH2s. But I think the shoot is going to drop for the Fuji. Why? Because it's such a joy to shoot and the results. Internal pro Res 6.2K did it for me. And the wider lens selection, including many wonderful third party lenses shoot and look like native lenses.
    Even with the Fringer adapter, the AF on Canon Ef lenses is great. And it gives these great lenses another life.
    But, with all that I find it mysterious that the Fuji just inspires me to shoot like no other camera. And all this while I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Panasonic. A wonderful camera all updated and caught up. Always happy to shoot the S5iiX, but the Fuji takes the cake.
    I know this isn't popular, but I really think the ASP-C sensor is better for video.
    Who knows. I might even shoot a photo or two, but,....naw. Probably not.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that the APS-C is better for video, particularly at lower resolutions - otherwise there's just lots of data that has to be combined or discarded.

      Seems to be a lot of chatter with the X-H2/T5 on AF issues even though it has the same algorithm as X-H2s. Wonder if it was originally optimized for a stacked sensor and shoehorned on a slower 40MP readout.

    Great test. Confirms what I had written in your previous test on the H2S that the AF is very strong. With people in crowded places, I tend not to use wide tracking, and a lot of times not even zone, but I have found focusing rapid and mostly reliable. I have found face/eye to be inconsistent with inanimate objects but far more consistent with actual faces. Is it just me or does that Bluetooth tripod grip look very uncomfortable on a large body like the H2S?

    So strange that the X-T5 is suppose to be the "camera" that fuji wants you to have, but the focus is still not great. I wonder if any firmware update will give the X-T5 with similar performance.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  ปีที่แล้ว

      Why do you say the focus is "not great"? In many aspects is as good as the competition and in some cases exceeds it. We are, of course, all wishing for the X-T5, which had an interesting fail in my review, to be brought up to this level.
