Thank you! I did not know my rogue could select thieve's tools for a bonus skill! I hated not being able to pick the lock on the chest near the carpet bagger lady. Im gonna try this. I am looking forward to your cleric and especially your sorcerer builds!
My rogue is a Halfling Spy Sharpshooter. He now has long bow proficiency which makes him a very effective sniper. Even with expertise in thief tools, he has been known to fluff picking a lock at which point my cleric starts buffing everyone else's skills and as he passes around the thief tools (which has actually worked).
Now THAT is how you set up a ranged rogue. I love the cleric backup plan as well. I had one chest that everyone failed. It is still in the game... mysterious and locked.
@@allanmuller3486 I didn't. I spent all my spell slots on combat spells. And sadly when the game ends, there is not going back. I finished it on stream Sunday night. It was so satisfying. But still that chest remains...
I watched this video after I made my character and played abit, I went for a geralt (from the Witcher) sorta build just to role play a bit, I’ll be honest he is very accurate to geralt but that also sorta screwed me a bit beings I didn’t go for the preferred selections that you talked about but I’ll be sure to use these tips for next time 😃
@@actuallychamp6250 thank you 😀 you thought about doing more solasta content, and builds like this, out of the many I watched yours stood out the most. Your personality and honestly your voice just springs out. 😃 👍🏻
I am unsure why you suggested NOT equipping two shortswords early on, as having a second attack ups the damage a lot. Plus, it means that you can fire your bow, switch to melee and close in for the kill in the same round. Also, a rogue can 'tank' in emergencies, by only attacking with the off hand and choosing dodge as their main action to avoid being hit.
TWO swords the way as soon as you can, but you can't get that and the bow. Get there as fast as possible. Dodge tanking is genius. I'm going to do that next Sunday in my home game.
@@actuallychamp6250 Not at creation no, but if you select a shortsword as you recommended, you still get 2 daggers and a short bow as standard. I place a shortsword and dagger in my first slot and a short bow in my second. I upgrade to 2 shortswords ASAP. Then it is just a case of swapping from 2 swords to a selfbow as needed. If you start with a bow equipped, you can fire, switch to the swords and still get an offhand attack in when needed.
I started with default characters without a rogue, and played so far until sleeping beauty quest, all fine. Traps are harmless, and locks are usually picked by dwarf paladin. Or in worst cases by wizard)
Sylvan elves also have a movement of 7 squares instead of 6. That's nice. I wonder...Why play a rogue over a ranger, though? At least, in this game. I get why in tabletop 5e D&D.
It’s interesting how this game proves the rogue can blatantly ignore the two weapon fight rules to attack with their bonus action and it’s not broken. freely using their action to dodge or reaction attack for additional sneak damage and they’re still not quite as good as other martials. Even with power attack feats removed.
In the main game sure, just pick low life as a background and buy lockpicks. In modules, not all think to allow for a party without a rogue and don't think to give lockpicks as a treasure, so you can face doors and chests you cannot open.
Wow I don’t know how you only have 502 subscribers! This video was excellent, informative, and entertaining. I hope you haven’t stopped making videos.

Great discussion on how you build your rogue. Very clear. Well done.
Thank you. Builds are a ton of fun.
Informative, clear and direct! Subscribed!
Great channel! Hope for more content!

Play what you love. Min/maxing is just another flavor.

My guy is a spy already so your comment that the Darkweaver's poison ability doesn't help in this case was great. Thanks.
Hey champ are you making content for the dlc ?? Please do great stuff !!!

Sylvan gets an extra cell of move too.
OOOOH I didn't even think of that! That's right and AMAZING.
Had to watch this several times. There's a lot of info here to digest
I'm glad you found this informative. :)
5:56 when dual wielding you cant use some spells. Like Blur and Life something

Your twitch doesn't have any Solasta videos on it...
is this build applicable in BG3

I did it for complementing skills and expertise. As a Sylvan you have proficiency in Longbows which rogues don't have do it adds to damage output.
I also like the climbing speed boost you get

can i replace the the rouge slot for a hunter or is that bad ??

Listen to Munoz. He is a wise one. AND have a high dex helps, but you can pass the lockpicks to every party member so who knows who will roll well.
Thank you both I ended up going with a Rogue instead of hunter.😀
Dragon age origins made me a fan of rogues
No, I just like stealing everything.
