I sell the big ones for a living, i can tell you this model is really damn close to the real thing, scarily so! Just one little tiny detail, the lettering on the bonnet / hood that spells out Defender, the letters are in black, this means it has the black pack option. This would mean the plastic strip that on this model on the front running left to right just under the hood, if it was black pack the strip would also be in black.
But hey, this model is so good i am asking my boss to buy me one as a sales tool to sit on my desk so clients can visualise the options better

Model cars should never be bought as an investment. Too difficult to really tell if something rises in value. As far as these AR models go, they are pretty mass produced and probably won't go up in price a lot.

Would this be way too big for 1/12 figures?

We'd assume that 1/18 figurines would be a better match?

I can confirm I have almostreal's brabus g550 4x4²(mat black) I must say engine bay is MASSIVE different than this defender.

That's good to hear! The engine bay on the AR Defender is just disappointing.

Not sure why you're annoyed by the exterior storage box looking plasticky. I've seen the Defender at a car show and its cargo box looked like it was made of plastic even up close.
Your prison jokes are probably true. I'm sure in real life, the British Army are using Defenders fitted out with cages to transport POWs and the Met will have one or two built like that for German Shepherds to supplement K-9 bomb sniffing departments...
