I grew mine from seed here in the Philippines and its been 2 years since but my gosh they do take their sweet time to grow. Watching your videos make me wanna go and scream at the plant to start fruiting. :)

I have several that have sprouted from seed scattered throughout the yard. Yes, they do seem to take their time growing. I have one of my older plants that I bought a little over 3 yrs ago. This past May it put on a really good amount of fruit. Then in September it started to put on a second crop which is even bigger. They do take some time to start fruiting but they are well worth the wait. Best of luck with yours and thank you for visiting!

Thank you! Best of luck with yours. They are fast growing so it shouldn't be too long until it fruits. Thank you for watching!

What's the difference between this "Lolita" variety from other black cherry trees

I've tasted the red, orange and black (Lolita) varieties. In my opinion, the Lolita has a sweeter taste. Of the 3 varieties, thus far, the Lolita has been the most productive as far as fruit production goes. Thank you for visiting!

How old does the tree need to be in order to make fruits? I purchase last year and it’s in a 20 gallon container now but no flower or fruits n what kind of fertilizer should I give. Thank u

The nursery where I bought mine told me that these are fast growing trees and they usually begin to fruit after 2 to 3 years. The tree in this video was purchased as a mature tree so it should have fruited the 1st year, but it didn’t until the following year (probably needed to get acclimated to my area).
I use an organic 10-10-10 fertilizer 3 times a year. I also give my container grown trees a top soil dressing once a year. Please check out my video titled “My 1st harvest off a Mexicola Avocado tree growing in a container”. I talk a little about the top soil mix in that video. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Can you tell me which online nursery you purchased your 'lolita surinam cherry'? Thanks!

The Lolita Surinam was purchased from a local nursery in Vista (California Tropical Fruit Tree nursery). I have another Surinam that is the red variety. That one was purchased online from (fastgrowingtrees.com).

Greetings! I’m sorry I do not know of a nursery that delivers to your area. Perhaps someone reading these comments might know of one. Best of luck and thank you for watching.

I have about 5 (1yr) old seedlings i purchased and would kill for a twig of your black variety. "Got any enemies" lmao 🤣 seriousness

Lol, thankfully not since high school. Two of my Surinam’s, including the Lolita, are in full bloom right now. Hopefully, sometime during spring, I’ll have plenty to harvest. I just got thru germinating about 4 seeds I saved from my last harvest. I’d like to get as many of these packed into my backyard as I can, excellent flavor.
