Thank you for calling out the "smart" wallet companies. I especially dislike how ekster calls themselves a smart wallet, but the tracker card doesn't even seem to come with the wallet, only as an extra you can buy.

It took a while for them to get it to me. Their shipping followup was weird too. Doesn't seem like they have that part of their fulfillment really worked out even after their Indiegogo campaign.

I'm looking to replace my Nomad battery wallet. This is...a little over-engineered. With my Nomad, I charge the battery and if I happen to need to top off my phone in a pinch, the charge is there and ready to go. Since I rarely discharge it, it has lasted me just fine for the 8 years or so that I've had it. This seems like it's always "on" and therefore the battery will go through many cycles and I'd be surprised if you get more than 2 years of use before the battery no longer holds a charge. This is no longer a wallet, but a leather computer. It's too much.
I'm not sure you actually save any space with this integration over a separate power bank. If you only want power, I would stick with the battery bank that's the size you need. This wallet doesn't allow for that flexibility. As far as the smart stuff, it's not for me, but I can see the use case.
Mark- I just read the "Our Story" section of their website and they go to great lengths to explain the travails they've gone through (including corporate restructuring) to finally get this wallet into people's pockets. It's going to take some time to recover from all the bad press.
It will. Kickstarters (Indeigogo) who have a hard time with a difficult project will get nailed. I've backed dozen's of projects and ultimately, if the creator will keep everyone up to date and make anyone whole who has problems, this can be avoided. I too hope they can recover, it's a great concept.

I did order it directly from their site. Once thing that the community has also determine and I tested to verify is when you have cash in the wallet, the camera is blocked, so that's out if you have cash. That's with the bifold. If you have the vertical card wallet it's not a problem from my testing.

Overall seems a gimmick for me. I don´t share the same idea of spending 200 USD for a backup wallet. Seems more reasonably to just carry a power bank, they are cheaper and with more energy to charge things. Very sorry but the GPS thing for me need more testing to really see if it is worth it. I ordered this wallet based on your review. It arrived Jan 28th, 2023 and only the charger was in the package (which had been cut open and re-closed with staples. The problem is that they won't answer my emails. I will keep you informed as this plays out because I want them to succeed. Right now I can't recommend them.
One thing you forgot to mention is all that tech is useless if you don't charge it. My wallet was stolen Saturday. I just moved into a new apartment so I haven't got into my usual sharing every night routine yet. Wallet disappeared. I wish I had it charged so I could catch the culprit.
Wow, lucky you got one and it's fully functional... Given a mountain of reviews from people who didn't receive theirs and a couple of videos showing it failing at every function but the Bluetooth tracking, I also tried to order one, waited for over a month for shipping, got my refund via PayPal and went for an Ekster with tracking card. Still cheaper than losing your money to a non delivered or non working wallet with poor quality, as other streamers have shown. Thanks but no thanks

Ekster IS HORRIBLE!!!! I got the wallet and the rechargeable solar card stopped working about 4 months after I bought it…. They wanted me to pay almost 80 bucks for another card and would not replace the card…. I spent almost $200 total for the card and the wallet.. and four months later they wanted me to spend another 80 bucks for another card after only four months… F**** them …. I’ll never purchase from them again
I bought an Extos for far more money than I think it is worth...However I bought it because 1 day at work I dropped my leather bifold and it was windy as hell and blee my credit cards all over the damned place and other such items. Now that won't happen.

Nope, that's just like, your opinion, man . Wallet with an apple tracker is plenty smart and battery lasts for ages and its not based only on bluetooth of your phone it's based on all iphones bluetooth thats how you will actually be able to track it. This is not really a wallet , it's a phone with a leather case of a wallet gone wrong, which will eat battery like fat man candies.
Hmmm, candy 😂.. It is indeed my opinion and while I don't disagree that the AirTag is excellent (I'll be doing a round of AirTag wallets in the near future), it's still based on multi-point bluetooth which is still good, but not as good as GPS. Unlike an AirTag, which I would carry, this wallet is too big to put in my pocket, but I do like how I can put it in a bag and keep all these functions together.
It seems to be a mixed bag. Many have experienced non-delivery from the Kickstarter and even after. They never knew it was me ordering it, so I was just another customer and I received it, but regardless, many unhappy customers.

The customer service agent, "Serena," promised it would be sent within the first half of November. Now she claims it will be sent by the end of November. I find it difficult to believer her. I love how she plays the victim when the company is the one holding our money and many other customers' cash. Yes, we're all aware of the current slowdown in manufacturing, the lack of employees and distribution issues as of late. But the company makes no mention of these issues on their website prior to purchase nor, like Amazon and other companies, do they inform paid customers when there's a problem with delivery. Unless you chase them down, you will not receive any information. And even then, the information provided is full of empty promises or, at worst, outright lies. If you're going to do any follow up videos about this product, I'd like you to inform those considering a Volterman wallet to steer clear and let them suffer true "hard times." Thanks.

That's when Volterman reached back out asking me if I would be willing to cancel the dispute, but they still couldn't guarantee delivery. I told them no, I no longer want the wallet and then the refund was authorized. I also sent notes to their CEO and head of marketing via LinkedIn. Doubt that did anything, but maybe... Bottom line, you'll have to jump through a few hoops, but it's not worth supporting a company that has doesn't support its customers. I assume there are other smart wallet makers out there...

When fully charged, just running the internals it lasted for 4 days. Not great.
