Before changing your nightlatch measure the "backset" to make sure you get the correct size, the backset on my nightlatch is 50mm, most are 40mm or 60mm
Hey, this is way too easy when the door is open. What shall I do when the door is shut, de Yale deadock is broken and it is impossible to open from the inside? I even can’t disassemble it because the screws are on the wrong side of the lock.
Recently my Yale key snapped in the lock..and I was locked out of my property had to pay for a locksmith to get back into my property at a cost of £150.00 that wasn’t even replacing the lock !
AWFUL VIDEO. The video says 'How to INSTALL a Nightlatch. There is a vast difference between replacing a night latch and installing a new one. Replacing means all the holes and recesses already exist whereas if you want to INSTALL a new one then you must drill new holes and cut new recesses in the wood door and frame to accept the lock and latch. I want to INSTALL a new lock on a new door, NOT replace an existing lock on an old door. If this video is HOW TO INSTALL a lock then the most difficult bit is preparing the holes and recesses which she does not show us.
Tried it, really not as easy as it looks. Done it in the end but a lot of stress.
What went wrong?

Great video - simple and to the point.
The arrows on the back of my existing lock were not aligned. When I align them it is the wrong angle to fit the bar. Any suggestions?

Use Keys to unlock 🔓 fr ok m Outside. I use my garden Back 🔙 Door. If None then try Window 🪟
Or Call professional Lock smith 🔐
Excellent. Thank you.
Good video. Does she drill pilot holes for the wood screws first, or would you recommend to do so? I couldn't see any under the mounting plate.
Would recommend pilot holing the screw holes first to a maximum size of 3.0 to 4.0 depending on screw thread thickness
If you now install a door pull the bar will now be short and what about the edge of the door where old lock was mortised in, what a mess!
You had me right up until you said "hack saw" 🙈

No mention of refitting a door pull, or making good the door where the old lock was located?
