+Deniz Maral A sky can be created in many ways but one of the most popular ones is to use IBL ( image Based Lighting ) This let's you plug in a ( semi ) dome containing real life light data. This feature is found in the Mental ray renderer. This is a free plugin that needs to downloaded and installed. her's a link to help you on your way. mhtutorialsth-cam.com/users/201507/04/q-i-cant-find-mental-ray-in-autodesk-maya/ Mike
Nice tutorial, but what really annoys me personally (not serious feedback) is watching you making 3D models without aligning almost all vertices on the grid. It's just what I'm used to because of Game Env Design. And you could say I have a fetish for symmetric or well-proportioned geometry (halves, quarters, golden ratio). But I guess it doesn't really matter when just making something that's supposed to look good.
+MegaKosan It all depends on what you are going to use it for. But hey, there is nothing wrong with being a perfectionist. I do these tutorials when I can and in my free time and like I said in this video, a proper model would take hours. It's intended to give people an idea how to model somthing like this, Mike
Currently in college studying game dev and just love your tutorials!
Always gives me confidence that im doing things right
+Adrian Williams (Adrianw1992) You're welcome

+Mike Hermes Its okay i'm not in a hurry, there are alot of awesome things to model!
Can I use the mirror tool and will it be easier?
+Laissez - faire You could but I don't really see the advantage in this situation
Hello Mike, I use Maya for Mac and when I jump to rendering I just have "Maya Software" to render. How can I have sky in rendering?

Mike
why wouldn't you UV the duplicates before you duplicate them thus cutting UV work in half in some instances? ex. air vents, and doors
I would
How are you doing this "J to snap" and "V to snap" thing? My Maya is'nt doing that.
If you hold J while rotating it will snap in section of 15 degrees
ooooh you have to be holding J before you grab the circles.
Awesome video mike!
Keep it up!
Suggestion anime figure ;)
need it for irl room proj for school :3
+Blackst4r Thanks !
As for Anime, sorry but I don't do characters
Mike
What do you press at 6:29?
+theAnimatingboy Or 6:30
+Mike Hermes I tried that but it just deleted the line in the middle where i selected the 2 faces but i will try and see how i went wrong.
+theAnimatingboy If you have faces selected the faces will be deleted. If you have edges selected, the edges
+Mike Hermes Never mind i have done it :)

Mike Hermes I know, it just breaks something inside of me everytime I see something that isn´t grid-perfect :D
+MegaKosan Good luck with that :-)
+MegaKosan What do you mean with 'aligning almost all vertices on the grid' ? Care to share an example? and why it's better? (Curious noob here)
+TheDorianTube What I mean is put your walls on the floor and don't have them float in the air
