Delighted you’re making trifle, Rik 🙏
Thank you. Best, Rik
Family legend has it that the first time my mother made a trifle, people kept coming back for more: she'd used guesswork with the amount of sherry she added. At least two cups worth.
Ha ha ha, love it! Thank you. Best, Rik
Smashing. Awesome trifle. 😊
Thank you. Best, Rik
I love everything you make !!!
Thanks you! It's all real home food. Best, Rik
Transported back to my Grandma's kitchen, l am in happiness mode.😊
Great memories and you know these type of trifles we all grew up with folks do not make anymore . It's a shame that these nostalgic treats are no longer made, this recipe is perfect for making with kids, both big and small, (especially big - more sherry) Best, Rik
Just as my Mum made it and now I do too, cream decorated with glacé cherries and skinned whole almonds totes yummy ! 😍
Love that! Thanks for sharing. Best, Rik
Just like my mam used to make when I was young. Difference was that we used to have a decent layer of Harvey’s Bristol cream sherry in there, not just a dash. Best bit of the trifle especially when the sherry soaked sponge mixed with the cream ;)
Yes, agreed. Best, Rik
Yes absolutely delicious my mum made trifles just like that fantastic happy memories ❤
Thanks you Laura. Good memories. Best, Rik@@lauradavies5346
This would be great
Yum Rik, I love trifle. Every time we all get together, before I have chance to ask them what to bring my family all five on me and say can you please do trifle Mum, and make it like Grandma’s trifle. I’ve seen many different recipes over here in Australia for some beautiful looking trifle but they all say, no, it has to be like Grandma’s, lol. So that’s what I do each time. The only thing different to yours is I don’t put alcohol in cos of all my grandkids but it still tastes great anyway. Thanks for your video Rik.
Thank you. Best, Rik
I like either canned pineapple or canned peaches better than the fruit cocktail, and I use the fruit juice instead of water for the gelatin.
For Washington’s Birthday, I make an all-cherry trifle, with cherry gelatin, canned sweet cherries, cherry jelly roll, and glacéd cherries on top. Yum!
Thank you. Best, Rik
👍🏻 Bless you, Rik, for bringing back memories of Christmas with my Mom! I always thought she made it up as she went, but she must've been following the same recipe. Only difference is that she also used glaced cherries that she first soaked in almond essence.
Thank you. Best, Rik
Don't go bananas on the sherry! The fruit cocktail and jelly fills me with so much nostalgia. This is semi-homemade and very doable. Thanks!
Very - do it - its a starting to be a forgotten desert everyone wants fancy but you know our Mums had it cracked back in the day! Best, Rik
Yum, Almost just how mom used to make it except she always used the juice from the tin in the jelly instead of cold water
Thank you. Best, Rik
Now that’s what you call a trifle. Not like the last one I bought in supermarket
Thank you. Best, Rik
I made this...I didn't have sherry or Kirsch so I used Grande mariner
Lovely! Thank you. Best, Rik
Wow Looks like a party I want in my mouth!
JELLIE!!? Raspberry jam on sponge layers, sherry, Bryd's custard, and topped off with whipped cream, cherries. Some things are worth the effort.
So good! Thank you. Best, Rik
😋took me straight back to my childhood, Sundays always a birds trifle after tea?😊cheers Ric from BIGMICK IN THE UK 🇬🇧 👍
Yes, fantastic memories, Mum making up a quick trifle. Best, Rik - this is the edited bit - Its nearly a forgotten desert to make these days , supermarkets all have them in, such a shame really for how easy they are to make.
❤❤❤❤😊
Thank you. Best, Rik
So happy! This is exactly what I do every Christmas, Easter and special occasions! Learnt for my gorgeous late mum, no other trifle beats this!! So easy but so awesome! x
Love that! Thanks for the comment. Best, Rik
Hi Rik, we use a tin of cherry pie filling instead of the fruit salad. It's lovely.
Oh Yes! Delicious Anne - so many combinations to make a trifle folks do not make them anymore its a shame. Best, Rik
Hi Rik that looks amazing. I put. Battenburg in the bottom of my trifle
Great choice! Thanks for sharing. Best, Rik@@maggie5510
Wow, the next one on my list. How about Xmas Gammon joint in the HYSapientia. 😋
I have to say the custard is very anaemic looking I feel I would need to add maybe some caramel colouring. Love a trifle to have after my tummy is already stuffed to explosion point! Thanks Ric
Thank you. Best, Rik
Brilliant mate 👍😊
BEAUTIFUL!! I shall try this for the holidays coming up!! Is this dry Sherry? Thank you!!!
Any sherry will do. Best, Rik
Hi Rik, hope all is well. I’ve been wanting to make one of these for ages, not seen sherry here since I’ve been here. Makro?
Chris, the sherry is in Rimping defo at the Airport branch (Nim City). There are 3 or 4 different ones, not cheap, all around 1k baht, mate. Best, Rik
Where did you get the sherry from Rik. I haven't seen it here.
Rimping mate - not cheap 1k baht. They have 3 different ones in. Best, Rik
